First, this team was dealt a bad hand before the season even started. They lost their reigning two-time B1G offensive player of the year and all around difference maker, Braxton Miller.  Let's see how they bounce back before everybody ties an anchor to them and shoves them in the lake.

One need only look at other similar situations where QB's were injured early in a season. It tends to really deflate a team when their leader goes down. Immediate example that comes to mind: 2009, Oklahoma lost Bradford during their season and they finished 8-5.

Let’s all take a deep breath and just accept this for what it was: an illuminating loss. Spotlights on the O-line, receivers, especially.  Quite obviously, there is much work to be done for all positions therein.  Some reassessment of the depth chart and perhaps giving some true freshmen a chance at playing time earlier than expected is a takeaway from this game.

Also, not eluding criticism would be the coaching staff.  Obviously the play calling continues to leave something to be desired.  The readiness of the O-line is questionable.  But when you mix in all of the youth and lack of experience the combination of all those factors is not exactly a recipe for success.

At many key positions, including the oft-hyped “skill” positions, this remains a young team; also one with a dearth of depth & experience at its disposal.

Let's see what happens next...
