Making sure I am reading this correctly...

From the OSU website-

"Possession and consumption of alcohol are subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Ohio and/or City of Columbus which state, among others: No person shall have in the person's possession an opened container of beer or intoxicating liquor in any public place."

I think that has long been the rule must use solo cups.

Pour it in a red solo cup or you will get ticketed. If Urban sees you with a blue solo cup he will make you pour it in a red one or you will be ticketed amd escorted off campus.

That's on the books in NC too, but like NYBuckeye said, go with a solo cup if you're in doubt. It's one of those laws that's only enforced if there's another reason the cops need to visit your tailgate.

Yea-I think that's the "rule" anywhere you go outside of New Orleans or Las Vegas, whether it's a sporting event or a concert.

Yeah it's the law... No public consumption.

The police around campus don't really enforce it much though.

Keep it in a cup and don't give the cops a reason to talk to you.

Bingo.

They really do NOT want to see open cans, bottles, liquor bottles, etc...

Put it in a coup and don't  be a jackass and you'll be absolutely fine. You have to REALLY try to get in trouble for alcohol following those two simple rules.

I'm not sure what kind of cops you've come across, but every time I've tried to put it in one, it has ended poorly.

Well played sir, well played.

I did say not to be a jackass to the cop you're putting it in...

I have had cops flat out say "pour that beer in a cup or I will ticket you."

I also had a couple friends down for the Michigan game a few years ago who are Michigan fans (I'm from Toledo) and the only guys who got ticketed were them. Kind of funny kind of sucked since I was hosting them.

Moral of the story, as everyone mentioned, drink out of a solo cup (red) and you're good.

Drivin > Disco > Drivin.
To the people in the bathroom, how's it going in there?

Me too.  They were very cool about it though.

Yah this is a law. Most cops just turn their head, as long as you're not going to crazy. Some will ask you to put it in a cozy, or a unmarked cup. To hide the fact that you're drinking in the public.

Had a Sheriff Deputy, ask what was in my cup once. I was honest said Miller Lite, he said, sorry but you'll need to get rid of that. I started to pour it out, he stopped me and said "No, No , No just chug it!" I laughed and obliged.

They have always been pretty cool, if you are cool. Some are power trip pricks, but you have that with anything in life.

You can't really count on them being this lax south of The House of Sorrows.

Don't act like an idiot, use a cup of some sort and you'll be ok.

Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...

Has always been the rule, trust me I learned that the hard the way! $120 per violation and they are sneaky and will be in plain clothes and cars. Keep in a solo cup and you will be fine. I was caught while I was looking for the cups in a box.

I always start by putting the beer in cups but usually a few hours later I'm loaded and just drink from the can. Luckily I've never been ticketed though. Don't be a dumbass like me & just use a cup.

Stand behind an orange snow fence and you'll be fine. Five falls in Columbus for me and not a single open container arrest.

Last I heard and this was sometime ago, when Gee came back, he more or less asked CPD to get vice off campus (that was a Holbrooke initiative). So basically, in a red solo cup and you're fine as uniformed officers don't really don't worry about such trivia.

Speaking of red solo cups. Do you know that foreigners are fascinated with our use of them?

As long as the alcohol is in cups they dont stop, I saw it multiple times last year the Wisconsin game cops stopping where cans were visible.  Also make sure they cant see you pouring the beer in the cups because they know whats in there.  I saw that one to and it wasnt Gee that did this it was Karen Holbrook that instituted the rule but Gee never changed it

That was part of the Hamsterdam storyline... very nice.

Cleveland ordinance states that public consumption is illegal too, but i defy you to find a Browns fan in one of the Munis who isnt completely obliterated 30 minutes before gametime.  Put it in a cup, don't broadcast it, the police have better things to do.

The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...

You've already been answered, but I just want to emphasize that if you are seen with an open can of beer, you will be ticketed; if you pour your beer in a solo cup, keep your empty cans in a trash container, and don't be a complete idiot, you're good.
