The Football nation blog on the NCAAF page over at ESPN had a simple question they put to 65 college coaches:  What one word describes your program?  There were some interesting answers (I thought Hoke's was going to be "BBQ", so I was disapointed.)

Meyer chose Fast.  What one word would you choose?

Illinois’ Tim Beckman: Family
Indiana’s Kevin Wilson: Cusp
Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz: Developmental
Maryland’s Randy Edsall: Hungry
Michigan’s Brady Hoke: Together
Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio: Committed
Minnesota’s Jerry Kill: Hungry
Nebraska’s Bo Pelini: Exciting
Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald: Focused
Ohio State’s Urban Meyer: Fast
Penn State’s James Franklin: Perseverance
Purdue’s Darrell Hazell: Hungry
Rutgers’ Kyle Flood: Hungry
Wisconsin’s Gary Andersen: Youthful

Glad to see another great answer from Meyer.  Hungry and family seem to be so overused these days.  Can't wait to see how fast these guys are!  9 Days!

Interesting that Urban is the only one on that list who chose a quantative adjective.

I was actually surprised hoke didn't say "hungry"...  but then the question is about the team not himself...

But going in if you said 4 of the coaches would say hungry what kind of odds could you have gotten that Hoke wouldn't be one of them?

How did Hoke not respond "hungry?"

He ate three times right before he was asked

One word to describe the team not coaches. Or he would have said hungry.

I believe the SEC players put their pants on one leg at a time like we do.

I could swear together means "Domino's".

I got this ish Domino's.

I was certain Hoke's answer would be "Peppers".

I would guess it would be "umm" , "err" or "uhhh"

The "umm" , "err" or "uhhh" were implied.

I don't understand why so many teams are hungry. I thought the NCAA's allowance of unlimited meals and snacks for scholarship athletes went into effect immediately....maybe these teams have a lot of walk-ons...

Rather unsurprisingly, the worst teams are "hungry".

"And then we got some crab legs."

I know a guy who can get a good deal on crab legs @ publix.

Youthful? What the hell, Andersen? Even if it"s true, you'd think he'd be able to come up with something better than that...

I wish Urban would've played the psychology card and said 'Disrespected.'

BrooklynBuckeye's picture

I know what you mean, but I think he was still playing the psychology card: he was inceptioning pundits and recruits.

The only reason Hoke didn't say "hungry" is because his stomach probably audibly gurgled and he didn't want to be redundant.

Treat every opponent as if they are capable of beating you, because guess what? They are.

I hear Hoke has a new motivational chant............."I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!"

The best one here, by far, is "developmental."  Kirk, you've outdone yourself yet again.  There is no way you can spin that to sound good.

Yeah I thought that was hilarious lol....

And when we win the game, we'll buy a keg of boooooooooze!! And we'll drink to old Ohio 'till we wobble in our shoes.

Thought Hoke might have gone with deep-fried, or custard-filled.

The deep-fried is the popular choice, and rightfully so. Giving the UV for stellar usage of custard-filled.

Well played.

Well those players shouldn't be hungry. Didn't the NCAA grant them more food?
