2017 & 2018 schedules

Meant to post this a few days ago, but a poster on Bucknuts last week stated that he was told there's news coming in the next few weeks regarding the open slots for Ohio State's 2017 & 2018 schedules.

On those schedules Ohio State only has 6 home games, and as Gene Smith mentioned, they would like to have 7 each. Hopefully it's two marquee neutral site games, instead of two cupcakes being paid to come get crushed in Columbus. I'm thinking a huge neutral site game could bring in enough money to overcome the lose of one home game.

Come on man. UNLV and Oregon State were just announced for those years.

Not sure, but I think 305Buck knows the UNC games have been replaced.  I believe there is still an open slot for both years, despite the UNLV and Oregon State scheduling..

Edit: I just double checked and confirmed, as of now there is still a slot open in both 2017 and 2018.
Oklahoma/UNLV in 2017 and TCU/Oregon State in 2018 are the only non-conference teams scheduled for those respective years.

There's only 11 games in each of those years. Still an open slot.

There are only eleven games scheduled in each of those two years.  We know they play twelve games.  Thus, not set.

No way we are playing anything other than a cupcake the week before Oklahoma in 2017.  2018 could be decent middle of the pack opponent.

Kentucky would be a perfect fit in 2017, nice tune up..and shut up the SEC

It pains me that the Georgia series got cancelled. Wasn't there a Tennessee series that got canceled as well? And then Vandy pulling out the game last year. I want badly for Ohio State to shut the SEC up.

Correct on all 3 counts I believe. They just don't remember whats its like to be above the Mason-Dixon line...been a few years for the South :)

If I'm not mistaken, the B1G will be going to a 9 game conference schedule at some point.

305Buck's picture

Yes there's 9 conference games in each of those schedules. Still need to schedule one additional OOC game for both.

There is no way we add anything other than a home game against a MAC or similar team in 2017. That is a very strong B1G slate with 5 road games including crossovers @Nebraska and @Iowa that we won't typically have. And we already have a premier non-con game with Oklahoma that year.

In 2018, MAYBE they try to get a premier neutral site game, but I don't think anybody should be surprised if it just another MAC home game.

Pretty much agree with everything you said. One can only wish.
