As an Ohio State fan, I'm sure the off-season has been as long and grueling on you as it has been on me. With the NFL Draft starting on Thursday let's take a look at how Ohio State players have performed on selection day.

Ohio State players have made their mark in the NFL draft over the years. 347 Buckeyes have been selected in the draft since its inception in 1936. 69 of the players were first-round draft picks. Information in this article came from The 2013 Ohio State Football Team Guide.

Over the next five days I will share with you the 347 Buckeyes who have been lucky enough to get their name called on draft day. Today we will start with the 1930s and 1940s. At the bottom of the article you will find the schedule for this series.

Before we get to the 48 players from the '30s and '40s here is some trivia.

Thought of the '97 squad (which would have been drafted in '98) that didn't send any to Sunday ball...odd considering the all the talent Cooper sent to the pros.

Looking forward to the next episode...great read (as usual) Remy.

Hovenaut,
I would have thought the team without a draft pick would have been in the '40s or '50s, not a Cooper team from the 1990s. There were only two drafts without an Ohio State player selected: 1998 and 1939. I think that's a pretty good run.

Hovenaut, a question for you. I accidentally made this a forum post instead of a blog. Is there a way to make this a blog?

As always, thanks for the kind words they keep me doing this.

I'm usually checking in via Android, and though I haven't contributed since the launch of the new site I do see if I click my user name I'll have the option to check my account, log out, create a new forum post or a new blog post.

Looks like they're still a go...worth five stickers (or a drink or two at the lounge for the really good material - and you're on your way).

Thank you sir. Did not see the blog option until after I posted the article. Still learning things on the "new" site. Next up is learning how to adjust the size and location of the pictures.

Do you plan on doing one of your "100 Days till Buckeye Football" things like you did last year.

Deadly Nuts,

Yes, I'm working on it right now. I plan on posting them when we get to that magic time. However, one thing I'm worried about is that the 100 days series will get buried.

When the season starts I'm concerned the same thing will happen to The Rundown, The Series History and The Ohio State Effect articles. It seems that forum posts have a short shelf-life unless they get a crap load of comments.

I'm hoping Mr. Priestas will allow the 100 days series (and the other articles) to be placed on the main page.

Very cool REMY, my brother has the letter signed by Curly Lambeau offering Merle Wendt in 1937.

That is nice piece of Buckeye memento to have.
