There has been some chatter on here recently about the prospects of Braxton going pro after this season. I was (and still am) firmly in the camp that thought there was little to no chance for Braxton to go pro after the 2014 season. This isn't a knock on Braxton. I have always felt that QBs that come from a spread offense (read: not pro style) generally get knocked for never playing under center and being a "dual threat" or running QB first and passing qb second. Whether this is fair, or a reality, that is where I am coming from.
Since Braxton has appeared much improved as a passer this season, especially the past two games, the chatter has grown that he is as good as gone, a camp that Birm is firmly in.
2014 is a deep draft for QBs, not just at the high end prospect but is also full of senior QBs and deep flier guys as well. As a pro prospect, it is possible that Braxton falls out of the top 10 for QB prospects, maybe even farther. I would think him going pro would take some impressive individual work outs, combine, and pro day in order to move into the top half of the draft.
Walter Football has Braxton has the 16th best prospect
(Laughingly) CBSSports doesn't even rank him....
and SI had this to say...
I think Braxton has great potential and has the tools and intangibles to be a successful QB in the NFL. However, right now I think he would be best served by his senior year. At this point I think he iis probably the 8th - 10th best pro QB prospect, looking at 5th - 7th round projection. What does everyone think?
