PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
The guys on the field tonight are very good, very capable of shutting teams down, but when your scheme tells you to play ten yards off, you have no chance...not with a team that wants to throw quick, or run double moves and go deep...bad coaching tonight, not the players
Get Bell in there, Props should be given to the quiet safety CJ Barnett, played a great game!
yes! that tackle on third down was huge!
Barnett is great, anyone who questions it is crazy.
Totally agree, Barnett is is really good...desmond took a shot at him on Gameday...what a tool.
Ahhh, the smell of Chris Spielman's Dirty Socks...
Barnett is the only guy that is making plays even though they seem to be playin off them there is constantly guys running wide open 10 plus yards down field it seems like every game
^ best post ever ^
Agreed on not pressing the receivers. IMO that is Everett W. philosophy / coaching more than the players decision. I don't understand why we would not want to be more aggressive. Perhaps with C. Bryant out they were concerned with help from the safety spot. Pitt Brown did look like he was late or out of position a lot of the fame. Bradley Roby kept leaving his feet on tacking, he needs to clean that up ASAP. In short, coaches need to be more aggressive with bump and run if they want to be successful.
Those with no experience.
I wouldn't be surprised if Vonn Bell emerged from the bye week as a starter
yeah, the guys who are backups, because they didn't win the starting job, will clearly do a better job
The people that are calling for back ups now are also the first people who will boo them when they don't perform as well as the starters (a la armani reeves)
Urban and Co know a few things about their personnel, I never understand why fans think they know about some hidden gem that the coaches somehow missed.
A. Fucking. Men.
For example, I've got nothing against Von Bell, but it's kind of annoying to me when before the season people kept going on and on about how he'd eventually start over one of Bryant or Barnett, and how he should be starting now... and it's only because he was a 5 star recruit. We don't know what kind of player he is or could eventually be. The same thing happened with guys like Curtis Grant and Etienne Sabino.
They're not on the field because there are guys ahead of them that are currently better. The scheme is what needs to change.
I agree, Vonn Bell will be starting after the bye week. Pitt Brown just put a bunch of bad tape out there tonight. It'll be a tough session with Coombs all in his face.
I honestly don't think its the players but its the philosophy of Withers and/or Coombs. They like to play zone cover 4 and try to keep everything in front of them. it might be because Barnett and whoever else playing SS does not have the speed to recover over the top. Doran Grant at least showed capability of playing press man and when healthy Roby is legit. Maybe Vonn Bell is the answer because Pitt Brown did a terrible job of wrapping up tonight.
