PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Prolly already is, just from gas alone.
He's in for a rough ride if they can't tighten the ship....looks like they could easily lose to Sparty, Brasky and NW right now.
He gets another year, even if they stumble the rest of the way, and starts next year with a short leash.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
He's got some good recruiting classes, so there's that. So that may buy him a couple years, unless they really shit the bed and drop 4 or 5. That team is bad, no way around it.
Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. The sign said: Disneyland Left... So they started crying and headed home.
I thought it was interesting that several people over on MGo were ripping Hoke for not wearing the headset during critical times of the game, i.e., when they needed to call a TO to avoid delay of game. I thought TTUN fans generally defended him for the whole headset saga. What gives now?
What gives now?
What gives now?
Can't block and they can't hold the rock, tackle like shit, play call poorly and they're 35 miles from Detroit. Awesome.
Yes he does have some 4-5 star receuits coming but can he coach them? I say NO
I dont care if they are 5, 4,3 or 2 stars...stars mean nothing, people need to realize that player development is the most important part and Hoke cant develop players

I'm just amazed he still doesn't wear a headset. Way to be engaged with your team, coach!
The problem is these dumbass UM fans saying we are going 12-0 or 10-2 before the season started. Any michigan fan with half a brain saw this team going 7-5 or 6-6. Too many holes, not enough talent, especially in the trenches where games are won and lost. To UM fans like myself, this loss was not at all shocking. In fact I was shocked we were even in the game in the second half, I had us losing by 17. Couldn't believe we had a shot to win the game.
I thought they would be 9-3 or 10-2... They seemed like they had solid talent. But Gardner has been a big disappointment I would say
Gardner giveth, Gadrner taketh away. Actually, before the unbearable ending to this game, I was going to give Gardner some props. He was shaky in the first half but led a nice comeback in a tough environment in the 2nd half without Lewan and no running game whatsoever. It wasn't his fault they lost that game last night. To me, it's on the defense (in the final regulation drive) and then the heretofore previously solid kicking game in OT. I knew why the coaches played it safe in OT and I was in agreement with it at the time. Gibbons has been solid for the last 2 1/2 years. With 2 chances to win it in OT from 40 and under, I liked that outcome better than trying to unnecessarily force something downfield.
60% of the time it works.....every time
I must have missed where he ever givethed something. I'm pretty sure the only quarterback he's outplayed was Tommy Rees (maybe Akron and UCONN guys but I dont know or care) and that was more of a race to the bottom.
It wasn't his fault they lost that game last night.
It wasn't his fault they lost that game last night.
Maybe, but Hackenberg went out and won that game for PSU. That's something I've never really seen Gardner do.
Side note: Has Hoke ever won a road game?
Don't be an ass. The dude threw for 3 TDs and ran for over 100 yards last night behind an offensive line that gave him no help. If it wasn't for Gardner, there's no way it's a 34-24 Michigan lead deep in the 4th quarter. Nobody's disagreeing that Michigan screwed the pooch last night or that they suck on the road, but there's no need to be factually inaccurate in order to make your point.
I don't think I'm being an ass. I just don't think he's a good qb. It's been downhill for him ever since the OSU game last year, and even that wasn't very good.
And I stand by my comment that Hackenberg went out to win that game. He's played like that in every game I've seen. He's had some problems, but he's a freshman. I don't see that same attitude in Gardner.
Also, for the record, I didn't downvote you. I'm not sure what was so bad about your comment that someone would, so I'll upvote it to even it out.
Edit: My comment about Hoke was definitely me being an ass. He went to my highschool, though, if that makes it better?
Take it from Bret Favre, at any moment, "football" can hit you right in the nuts. Don't worry, it will only take a month for the swelling to go down.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
To the guy above who asked about Hoke winning a road game, he is winless on the road against teams that are .500 or better.
OK, either you're a hysterical Michigan fan or just a troll. I predicted 9-3/10-2 and it made plenty of sense. I figured Michigan would go undefeated in non-conference play (they did) and that they'd be similar in performance to the 2011 and 2012 teams that went 6-2 in conference.
Last night was obviously a miserable outcome for Michigan fans but why you thought it would be a 17 point game in the first place makes no sense to me. Under Hoke, Michigan's only lost by that kind of margin one time, and it was against Alabama. I knew there was a real shot of losing last night, but not by 17.
They almost lost to Akron and UConn back to back games, two teams that are seriously bad football teams. Granted PSU isn't great or even good really, predicting UM would get throated isn't that far fetched.
6-8 on the road in three years so far - headed for 7-11 through a bowl game - and that seat is Toasty in '14. But I think it may cause a couple staff changes in January.
Their next 5 games are
vs THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
I have trouble believing TTUN wins 2 of the next 6 games. Hope NU and Wisky win out just to make us look that much better.
Note PSU lost to UCF and Indiana.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Hoke is going no where. His success in his first year has bought him enough time to not go three strikes and your out short after winning the Sugar Bowl. They likely need to make some coaching changes on the staff after the season is over. Borges and Funk may be gone after the season, maybe Funk sooner. One UM fan did bring up a good point about Bret firing Canada last year and their OL and run game improved as a reault. Could the same thing possibly happen in Ann Arbor?
While Ohio State's players hurdled the brick walls of Michigan Stadium in their throwback uniforms to celebrate with Buckeye fans, Michigan tailback Michael Shaw sobbed uncontrollably while walking off the field. - Grand Rapid Press (21-10 OSU)<
Hoke isn't going anywhere. Brandon will at least give him a full cycle of his own recruiting classes (4 years) before potentially cutting ties. As Michigan saw from their last two coaching searches, the program may not be the optimal destination for a head coach that it's fans think it is, which will allow for a longer leash for Hoke.
I know us as OSU fans love to bask in the glory of a UM loss, but the team up there still only has 1 loss on the year and Hoke pretty much came into a situation where the program had minimal talent on both sides of the ball, so he wasn't going to turn them into a top 10 program overnight. When Meyer came to OSU, Tressel had stockpiled some impressive talent, which allowed Meyer to seamlessly transition an underachieving team into a winner. Hoke didn't have the luxury of a stockpile of talent and he just benefited from some great luck and great breaks during his first season, which seemed to have made his program look much better earlier than they really were. Not every rebuilding program gets to play in (and win) a BCS bowl game that they have no business playing in against an opponent that also has no business playing in a BCS bowl (Va Tech). The perception of that Va Tech game really helped (or harmed) expectations at Michigan for years 2,3,4.
I don't see um ever have a good team again. He has brought some talent in, but it doesn't seem to matter so far. Despite their record, they're not a very good team. I give it another year or 2 especially if they keep losing to tOSU.
Pokud si můžete přečíst to pak budete mít zlatou hvězdu na den!
I hope he stays so we whip the tar out of them every year
It's crazy how before they barely beat Akron everyone (meaning people not on 11w) thought he was a great coach and really coming for Urban and the Buckeyes. Now we're talking about firing his fat ol' self for being incompetent and not liking the way the headset feels on his silky brown locks.
