I invite anyone more web-savvy than I (which is most of you) to jump in here and tell me if I am way off base but:
I just read A CALL TO ARMS TO ALL BUCKEYE FANS EVERYWHERE! on this forum in which the author asked OSU fans to avoid generating web traffic for those talking heads who generate clicks by bashing our beloved Buckeyes. I fully agree and will do so, but it got me thinking if there are other ways to use web traffic in our favor. That is, of course, if it even makes a difference.
Regardless, ever since tattoo gate I have felt guilty patronizing the ESPN webpage. But there is really just too much good content across the sports spectrum for me to avoid their site. So what I did is set my ESPN bookmark to Ohio State's CFB Nation page. Hence, every time I want to go over there I generate a hit for my scarlet and gray alma mater before moving on to the portion of the site I want. I suppose I could do the same for Yahoo and go straight to their Buckeye page as well.
What do you think? Is this going to too much effort to generate meaningless web traffic data or can we actually send a message that there is high demand for positive OSU content?
