As we prepare for a crummy-weather contest, I cannot help but think of the 09 champs sports bowl between the badgers and the hurricanes. The badgers were supposed to be obliterated by Jacoby Harris and the athleticism of the canes. But UW had a secret weapon: a 50 degree day with rain.
Now in wisconsin in december, it is my experience that any temperature above freezing calls for shorts and a party. Naturally tolzien, clay and the badgers were loving the 50 degrees. Every single cane was wearing cold gear and I swear I remember guys shivering on the sidelines. They had probably never played in a game under 60 degrees their entire lives. The canes would be off offensively all night. Harris was sacked 5 times and hit several times more. The wisconsin ground and pound wore the cane defense down and came out with a 21-14 upset.
The canes are not in the SEC, but I swear from that moment on I was convinced that if every SEC team was forced to play a bowl game in the north during winter, this SEC bowl dominance would not have happened.
Thoughts? Or is this a dead horse?
