Tressels, Fickells and Urbans,
Sometimes it just works out that way...
For whatever reason, invisible forces align the stars just for you.
You are blessed with a moment where time stands still and waits for your return.
Everything is effortless. You can't explain it...it just is...and you are lucky to have such strong, stark clarity.
As Wordsworth penned, you "see into the life of things."
Breathe in through the nose, out through the mouth.
Think Florida A&M in Ohio Stadium with a mid-day kickoff. :)
...and sometimes you have to put the hammer down and go get it.
The hype-machine is firing up for this one. This game is being billed as one of the biggest ever at Northwestern. ESPN Gameday will be there. Kickoff is under the lights. One of college football's biggest traditional powers is coming to town.
I've been to Evanston a couple times for the Ohio State game and Ryan Field is not Ohio Stadium. It is like a glorified high school stadium that temporarily has trouble handling the onslaught of Buckeye fans. It's hard to get a hot dog when OSU visits. The PA system tries to create some commotion for opposing teams. It's just an odd place.
Distractions abound for this game...it won't be handed over just because...
Last week, the win against Wisconsin wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped. It was good to see Carlos back and running over defenders. It was also good to see some crisp passes from Braxton in the first half. But, OSU went a bit conservative and let Wisky get back into the game.
Against Northwestern, I think the Buckeyes need to put the hammer down and keep it down. The Northwestern offense and kick return game (with Vendric Mark) has put some points on the board. I would love to see some pressure from OSU's defensive line to take some pressure off the young linebackers and secondary that is now missing Christian Bryant.
Also, Hurbanball needs to play four quarters with the full understanding that the biggest play in football is the touchdown. OSU's offensive line is nasty; especially with Corey Linsley on the field getting them in the right scheme. I would love to see them push around the Wildcats and set the tone from start to finish.
Focus will be important. Northwestern's defense has been extremely opportunistic; Braxton needs to show the accuracy from last week again this week in Evanston.
I hope the clarity we experience this Saturday is an extremely satisfying Buckeye performance in Evanston.
Sometimes it just seems to work out...but sometimes you have to go get it.
