During the Pats Jets game on a potential GW field goal in overtime, two members of the Patriots field goal block team stunted. They had no effect on the play, but the kick was missed. But a flag was down. The player looping around on the stunt was called for "pushing a player into the pile," a 15 yard penalty that turned the FG from a deep miss to nothing more than a chip shot. It turns out that the rule he violated was pushing a teammate into the field goal protectors and that the rule was for "player safety." Now I'm a little angry right now, so tell me if I'm being irrational, but who the fuck does that rule make safer?
