The MSU at Iowa game this Saturday figures to be an ugly low-scoring affair that could potentially devolve into something like the infamous 6-4 contest between Iowa and PSU in 2004.
The over/under for the game is currently 38 points, easily the lowest number for this week's games.
Iowa's offense has been okay so far, 48th in total offense, but MSU is #1 nationally in total defense. Meanwhile, Iowa's #7 defense will be facing MSU's #103 offense. Iowa's best offensive weapon, the burly "FB" Mark Weisman will have to pound away against MSU's powerful front seven, which is pretty much custom built to deal with traditional pro-style power rushing attacks. On the other hand, since MSU's pedestrian rush attack probably won't make much headway against Iowa's #7 rush defense, that'll force one or both of MSU's shaky rotating QBs (Cook or Maxwell?) to make plays on the road against a solid Iowa pass defense. Good luck to both offenses.
It might be fun to make up some other over/unders for this game:
- Total turnovers: 6 o/u?
- Punts: 15 o/u?
- Offensive TDs: 2 o/u?
- Dave plays: 51 o/u?
- Average amount of time a non-MSU/Iowa fan watch the game before faling asleep on the sofa: 18 minutes o/u?
