PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
What's the latest? Saw over on Bucknuts he might not be here next year.
If true, that is very sad as I thought he had loads of potential.
Mike Gesicki are you listening?
That's horrible news. And with Gesicki looking more and more like a PSU commit. Damn.
I know he was drinking the "Happy Valley" kool aid over the weekend but I hadn't heard anything about whether he was leaning one way or the other. Did I miss something?
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
If he does and Gesicki chooses PSU, holy hell that would be a very poor turn of events for us...especially with the Blake Thomas career ending injury during pre-season practice.
I'm not a bucknutz member, can someone tell me why he would not be with us next year?
Probably because he got into the doghouse before camp by underage drinking and having a fake ID. Also being from CA and possibly being home-sick.
Damn that would be awful. I really liked that kid. I know he messed up over the summer with that whole fake ID thing but I was looking forward to seeing him play especially after losing Blake Thomas.
No offense to Baugh, but if you screw up with a fake ID, you should pay the price! Don't run from your problems. Be a man and face the consequences if there may be any left.
Agreed, man. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you respond to them, how you learn from them, and how you grow from them that really defines a person.
Would hate to see him miss out on a great opportunity, if this were the case (he is trying to run from the situation he got himself in to).
Plus points your way! Couldn't agree more!
You are basing that off of a thread on 11W where the author's only source of information is that he saw something about it on Bucknuts? A) He got in trouble with a fake ID when he was 18 years old and in college. I and 99% percent of my friends had a fake in college (does not make it right but it leads me into my next point:) B) Granted, it was incredibly stupid especially for someone with so much to lose, but let's not act like he assaulted someone. C) How do you know he has run from his problems? Have you been at practice and witnessed him not being a man and facing his consequences?
I do NOT have insider information but I gotta tell you, if this thing does happen and he leaves, I will NOT be surprised. The kid wasn't here 3 weeks and he was tweeting how he missed California. I believe this is the kid that never even visited us before he committed, right? Pluse, as the previous poster stated, he came out here and immediately got into trouble which stunted his development a bit.
The only other thing I can say here is that one of his friends did tweet him a couple weeks ago and asked him when he was going to get into a game and he stated that "he was red shirting." I hope the kid sticks it out, he's obviously athletic and talented. I hope to see some of it before he makes a decision to go, if indeed that is what he is thinking of doing.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got nine guys who better go do it again. Do it a little harder next time." -- Urban Frank Meyer -- I LOVE THIS DUDE!! :)
Sounds as though Marcus has possibly been pouting since knowing he most likely will redshirt. Maybe loafing a bit on scout team along with that initial issue he had could certainly have been a cause for some turmoil. That kid is accustomed to being a star on every team he has been on since he started playing most likely. Now he is a long way from home and is on the scout team. Be interesting to see if he comes back after Christmas.
Is this from the Bucknuts rumor mill that initially broke this thought, or is this just a speculation?
He got snagged by campus police for suspicion of under age drinking. The campus police brought him back to the dorms where he left out again that same night?? Now he was suspended after that weird incident and me thinks he didn't follow through with the mandated procedures to get the suspension lifted.. Me personally I thought something was wrong with him from the jump when he commited to tOSU sight unseen I don't think the staff got a true evaluation of what kind of person they where bringing to the team????
"GIMMIE THAT BEAT FOOL!!! IT'S A FULL TIME JACK MOVE" Ice Cube jack for beats..
I thought something was wrong with him from the jump when he commited to tOSU sight unseen
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Perhaps. But I seem to remember a kid named Troy Smith got in a little bit of trouble (NCAA not legal) early on in his OSU career and turned out to be a pretty good player.
Seems a bit premature to write a kid off already, don't you think?
Sounds like his trouble is a little terminal. Maybe the spot gets filled with a elam, prince, solomon thomas, juju, not a bad trade if he can't get a grip.
Speaking of disappearing acts, anyone heard anything on Tim Gardner since he was sent home?
Last I heard he is determined to come back better than ever.Hope he makes it with that attitude.(gardner)
These situations need to be kept in mind when bringing kids over from CA (or any far away warm weather place).
Ohio is different from what you are used to, and your family is far away.
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
This thread lacks any meat. We have no idea this supposed issue that was discussed on Buck Nuts. We have no way to evaluate the reliably of the information. We don't even know what the information is. Also, Baugh did play versus FAMU. Maybe there is something to this and maybe there isn't but threads like this are how rumors are started. 11W posts should be better constructed.
The Bucknut article said he loafed on the scout team when he discovered he was going to red shirt. UM does not like that. He thought he would play a lot this year, and when that did not happen, the inside word from Bucknuts is it is more likely he will stay in CA. and not return. Remember, he did not visit before signing, and did get in the doghouse.
Plus one for adding something.
That is still heavy speculation! So what the article is implying is that he assumed he would get some PT right away despite the fact there are 2 senior TE's on the team right now, and was a budding sophomore at the time?
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Who are the 2 senior TE's on the team right now?
you all are right, I forgot they are actually a Junior and a REDSHIRT Sophomore (which is still a junior!!)
So really, my point is even stronger! At no point should Baugh thought he was going to see the field for long this year. And I'm pretty sure he didn't or he would be a fool when we all know Urban has been very high on these two TEs.
and it also makes me laugh at the Concern over Baugh and Gesicki when really there is no reason to be concerned about the TE position for another year until 2015.
I just think this is complete nonsense to spread a rumor so thin!
I believe both of our #1 and #2 TE's are juniors, iirc.
Heurman is a junior and Vannett is a sophomore. We don't have a senior TE on the team.
FYI: Heuerman is a Junior, Vannett is a Sophomore.
Edit: Beat me to it. Sorry for the repeated info.
Also have JT Moore at TE hes a red shirted Jr kinda wondering if he's gonna stick around another year considering I don't see him getting significant PT aside from special teams.
Heuerman is a Junior and Vannett is a Sophomore...and also I'd appreciate if Urban was never referred to a UM again. I about upchucked!
"Anything less than flagrant is just playing grab ass!"
Red shirt Sophomore btw.
Who called Urban UM? that wasn't in my post. Only time I say UM is when I describe Michigan. The reason I call them that is everytime you ask a Michigan fan to spell it, they always start with "UM".
Lets rewrite this shall we,
Saw over on Bucknuts he MIGHT not be here NEXT year.
Talk about rampant speculation! since I am not a BUCKNUTS member, did they give anything definitive to state this? GRADES, TROUBLE, HOMESICK or ANYTHING to come up with this reasoning outside of him not playing right now?
I'd hate to show my FAUX OUTRAGE over something that someone MIGHT have heard through a friend of a friend who was on "the pot" one night!
Also, with the way the TE is being used, should we really be this concerned to say all this above?
Look about 5 posts up. He started loafing on the scout team when he found out he was going to get a redshirt.
hearsay! there is nothing to prove this and it speculates a players feelings which probably happened one day when he first heard about it and he is over it, if he was ever upset about the news. Gotta give these kids more credit than to start saying he is leaving the team because he wasn't completely happy with getting a redshirt. I'm pretty sure most players aren't happy with a redshirt.
I mean, why don't we write a post and discuss Braxton having bubble gut today and will it effect him for the Michigan game. Its ridiculous to write off this kid on such a thin storyline.
Talk about the sky is falling.
Too much talk and not enough common sense..The TE does well when KG is in the game. When Braxton is in, the TE is mainly used for blocking.IMO ,if the guy is good enough to play, then Meyer will keep him around.
I think he will end up staying. He will get plenty of PT in the future. Heurman will be a senior next year and Vannett will be a junior. When Heurman leaves Baugh will be a redshirt sophomore and have 3 years to play. If he leaves, it's because he was in Meyer's doghouse. Just my opinion.
I use a family member's subscription to check the Boarding House (where this info came from), and the authors at Bucknuts ask to not share the info anywhere else. Personally, I think 11W has everything covered perfectly and I rarely check another OSU site, but I feel like we should respect the author's intent that those rumors stay on the Front Board over there. I hate being this guy.
11W is the best, and free.
Lobs it to the endzone... Touchdown Devin Smith!!
It's ironic that you are calling people out for sharing this info from a paid site, but you are using a family member's subscription to check Bucknuts. Isn't that a little hypocritical?
I completely understand the other point of view. The family member wants me and others to use it, though.
If that's the case... I'd like for members of 11W to share the info. You can't have it both ways. This is kind of a "do as I say, not as I do" situation. You're taking from Bucknuts livelihood by mooching off of a family member's acct. It's the same as someone posting the info on here.
My family member used to get the Bucknuts magazine and share it with the family. They view the subscription to the website the same way since the magazine is obsolete.
Nothing but upvotes from me, Buckeye_in_SEC_country, you've shown me a glaring hole in my perspective I had embarrassingly missed. I'll try to be better about that attitude. Thanks and go Bucks.
This has come up time and time again. It isn't secret info. Part of what subscribers are paying for is to be the "smart one" with the "scoop" that can be shared with nonmembers.
It is perfectly acceptable both legally and morally to share paraphrased bucknuts info here or anywhere else.
Do we have anything more concrete than "saw over on Bucknuts?" I have seen posts on Bucknuts stating that Chris Fields was transferring and that Jamel Turner had passed away. I think we can hold off on these types of stories here at 11W.
It's from the Boarding House, which is innuendo for innuendo's sake. That said, many rumors there do turn out to be true, but this is just a source's speculation. He may very well transfer, but don't take this as any more than a speculation.
I'm glad we have the Twitter analysts here today. Now I understand the situation so much better.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Is Jamel Turner still dead on Bucknuts also?
I'll say this about Baugh: he's a really talented player and hopefully he turns it around. He's made some bad decisions but the team has not given up on him.
That's good to hear, thanks Birm.
I jumped onto this thread at the right time.
Thanks for weighing in, Birm.

Lets hope he's the type of player that responds to a challenge and works hard over the offseason.
Yep, thank you for chiming in, sir. The inside insight is always appreciated.
I'm really not a fan of dogging a kid on the roster.... He made a mistake that happens a ton in college. He doesn't get a free pass, but let's not make it out to be something it isn't...
Not at all, he was young and made a mistake. I am sure we all did that. Just has to work hard and get back to where he needs to be. I love the kids upside and talent.
We're our own worst enemy on this type of thing. As of today he's a member of the team. Until that changes, there's no point worrying about it.
