PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Just put the Ohio Buckeye on upset alert. Just a tad of sarcasm in his voice with a very faint voice. Hes a P.....
Picking Penn State, and he went to Pitt.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Don't understand the point of this, as Herbstreit said the same thing, also said Alabama was on upset alert.
But in response to your question, absolutely, I don't think we've yet delved to the true depths of that yet.
Just wait till he gets to Lee Corso age.
If he is still on the air at Corso's age, my god have mercy on our souls.
Not something you want from a doctor come prostate exam time.
My main point besides the fact he went against us was how he said "the (sounding more like duh) ohio buckeye). I sensed a great deal of sarcasm in his very faint delivery. I guess Im wrong? He did not refer to us as Ohio State.
Oh I'm with you, I didn't mean that first part as it sounded I guess. May hates OSU, that's not a secret, he gets views and comments abound for always talking about the Bucks that way. Sarcasm is his only way of communication.
I dont understand the point of upset alerts. Arent teams always on upset alert, every single game ever played?
And I agree that we need to stop taking the bait all the hacks keep spoon feeding buckeye nation. These guys know that their bosses dont pay attention to content, just ratings and page clicks. When they havemt met their quota for the month they just talk shit about the Buckeyes. Its like an overly inflated stock market bubble waiting to burst and collapse the market...we need to just stop falling for it so that the media collapse can happen.
Yes. Yes he is

Beano Cook went to my High School in PA - and boy was he crazy before he died.
Beano Cook correctly predicted that Urban Meyer would become Ohio state's head coach when the tattoo scandal broke.
Did not know that - thanks for sharing
Upset alert my... well you know. There is no way our boys lose at the shoe under the lights on the national stage. UFM will not let it go down like that. I expect to see our boys bring the juice and step on PSU throat. My guess good guys win by 21+.
I think the main issue was that he forgot the "state" in our name
THE Ohio State Buckeyes not Ohio Buckeyes. Also, why do we care what Mark May says?
All I can say is I personally couldn't care less what he says. I bet I'm not alone, and not just among OSU fans. OTOH I can see people saying PSU might upset us. We haven't dominated and PSU just upset TTUN. Our defense HAS to play better than they have. We really need to pound PSU and make a statement.
I like your style UNHOLY
Mark May hates Ohio State post #532
...Waiting for the ESPN sucks spinoff post.
Yeah Mark Mays a douche popsicle who knew?
I've watched espn off and on all day. I've heard herbstreit put us upset alert (which in a way is understandable considering the game and our last 3 games). I watched CFB live and listened to one of those goondicks say yea osu is 19-0 since urban came to town but shouldn't they apologize for some of those wins since they're in the B1G. Then, of course, Mark may and his ignorance. Every day I watch espn college football related things or read them online I see this same stuff every day. It's never gonna change until the buckeyes win the title or "big game". And frankly it doesn't make a shit to me and I could give a damn less. All we do is win and I'm gonna keep on enjoying them while everyone else keeps on hating. Winning isn't easy, but somebody has to do it
IS MARK MAY THAT DUMB?
That's like asking if Travis is a troll.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Or asking if bears shit in the woods.
or if a one-legged duck swims in circles
I like football
or if M*chigan sucks.
Or is Ohio State is the best team in the B1G
Or if Ohio State fans secretly have a man-crush on Mark May
60% of the time it works.....every time
Hes an idiot.
I saw the title, scrolled down, and typed "yes."
Now that I've posted, I need to go back and see what the actual topic is ...
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
LOL. He's still salty from 72-0.
IS MARK MAY THAT DUMB?
You guys do know that these "opinion" shows are as scripted as pro wrestling, right? Mark May probably enjoys poking gullible OSU fans to get a rise out of them, but that doesn't make their show any less choreographed.
Pro wrestling is real.
Toledo - Ohio's right armpit

You think this commentary is scripted?
"I'll fire when I'm god damn good and ready! You got that?" - Pete "Maverick" Mitchel
Thank you for this. I sure do love me some Jim F-ing Ross!
Who is Mark May?
Some dude who wears women's panties. I looked it up on the internet.
Some people think having all these michigan homers and anti-OSU guys on ESPN is good for the rivalry. Yeah, yeah-I get it-biggest fanbase in the nation so it draws in viewers. Isnt michigan's fanbase comparatively large? Wheres the OSU homer that always has bad things to say about them? Dont we deserve one?
I'm not sure if Michigan has the largest fan base in it's own state. Talking to a guy who worked in a Chrysler automobile factory outside Detroit, and he says the Sparty/Wolverine fan ratio is almost 50/50, up there.
Yeah, you might be right. I work right next to one of the Chrysler buildings. MSU fans around here are level headed and willing to talk ball. UM fans are easy to rile up though.
On a side note, I swear after they lost to PSU I didnt see a single UM shirt/hat/jacket for that entire week. Might be the first time I have ever seen that happen.
I get up to Detroit quite a bit and I would say the ratio of TTUN fans to MSU fans is 10:1, in favor of TTUN. Just my perception. The only thing MSU has going for it in SE Mi. is their games are broadcast on WJR 760AM, a Detroit station.
Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. The sign said: Disneyland Left... So they started crying and headed home.
I live in West Michigan and it is about a 50-50 split. MSU fans are realists that enjoy when the football team wins, but are more focused on Basketball and UM fans are delusional as they always think UM is the best team around. I have ceased trying to have rational discussions with UM fans because you rarely get a response that coincides with reality. Even when they lose a game, you get some excuse or reason why it happened, almost erasing the result in their minds. Last year after the tOSU game, I had to listen to these morons posit that if Gardner had been playing the entire year, that they would have blown out tOSU, blah, blah, blah.
After every OSU over UM win I hear the "all time record" and "winningest program in history" argument. Like immediately after the game clock hits :00
Since 1945 (the advent of the modern era):
1 Oklahoma 75.95% 592-183-13
2 Texas 71.88% 558-215-11
3 Nebraska 70.23% 551-231-9
4t Ohio State 74.66% 541-177-20
4t Alabama 70.58% 541-220-19
6 TSUN 71.23% 531-210-15
7 Tennessee 67.96% 522-240-23
8 Southern Cal 69.26% 519-224-23
9 Notre Dame 69.24% 518-226-15
10 Georgia 66.46% 512-253-22
How is 1945 the advent of the modern era? The top programs in the country weren't racially integrated until the late '60's or early 70's. I would think the modern era has got to be considered at least 20 years past the date you picked, if not more. Mind you, the stats may not be any kinder to Michigan during that time but I'm just not sure what the relevance of 1945 is other than being a data point that helps your argument against Michigan fans.
1945 is widely acknowledged as the beginning of the modern era as it was the first year for large adoption of the two platoon system.
Moving the date up 20 years helps you out a little (but not that much) because it eliminates much of the dark era immediately pre-Bo.
The real kicker is if you run the numbers you have to go back to the 19th century before TSUN actually moves up to the top for all time number of wins.
Between 1869-1899 TSUN played 123 games. That is 39 more than Ohio State, 53 more than Nebraska, 78 more than Texas, 99 more than Alabama & 113 more than Oklahoma. That's the secret to being the all-time winning program...start your program decades before everyone else and pad your stats against teams that no longer exist.
Michigan's fan base is no more delusional than OSU's. Both are extremely delusional, just like you'd expect from any rabid fan base. And before 10 of you guys immediately down vote me, please consider the large number of posts and threads we've seen on this site over the past year that make it sound like how Urban Meyer will never lose a game at OSU, Braxton Miller will win the Heisman and be a first round pick this year, What is Meyer doing recruiting while Michigan lands all these top players/Meyer is the greatest recruiter ever and Michigan's top recruits would never get playing time at OSU, ESPN hates OSU and nobody else, blah blah blah.
The only, and I mean ONLY difference between two fanbases right now is that OSU's fanbase supports the better football team. That doesn't make OSU's fanbase any less delusional, it just makes their delusion less negative than Michigan's. The underlying craziness and delusion among both fanbases is extremely rampant, and you will see what I mean when OSU eventually loses a couple games under Meyer. You'll see all kinds of crazy posts ranging from "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING" to "TEAM X DIDN'T BEAT US, FICKELL'S STRATEGY DID", none of which will be rooted in any type of logic.
I get that you guys hate Michigan (as well you should - we're your most hated rival), but please don't try to convince me that OSU's fanbase is perfectly sane/logical while Michigan's is off the reservation. They're both delusional, plain and simple.
I stopped paying attention as soon as you said "Michigan".
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
MICHIGAN congratulations MICHIGAN Daithflu MICHIGAN you just MICHIGAN won MICHIGAN one hundred MICHIGAN million MICHIGAN dollars MICHIGAN Paul MICHIGAN McCartney MICHIGAN is MICHIGAN dead MICHIGAN
Cut to the chase hello-heisman, your wolverines suck soo much, you are on an OSU blog site trying to get some decent football discussion, or hiding from your fellow UM fans as you transform into an excellent Buckeye fan.
I'm not sure if I should be insulted or complimented by your last post.
I will say that while I generally like the discussion on this site, I will never foresake Michigan for Ohio State. I'd rather die at the hands of a specialized biological weapon that smells like the worst fart a 350 lb man could ever conjure, leaving the awful scent as my last memory of this earth before dying shortly thereafter in a mix of flame and stink.
Been to a couple Brady Hoke meet-n-greets I see...
No. Those would have ribs and good food involved, not just farts.
YOU TRIN TO TELL US YOUR ACTUALLY A LIVING AIR SUCKING ENTITY----COMPLETE WITH CARBON AND OXYGEN, AND H20.............. and you root for the team named after a shit eating mammel !!! (a BUCKEYE FAN FEINTS ) NO WAY !
Wrong Hello_Heisman, there is a difference when your team is actually good (us) and when your team is like the post colonial version of Great Britain (you guys). I liken Michigan football to the old lady with all the make up and jewels on... past your prime and refusing to admit it.
your team is like the post colonial version of Great Britain
your team is like the post colonial version of Great Britain
Perfect analogy. Except I kinda like the British.
So you're saying we should call ourselves the cougars instead of the wolverines? Or maybe we're old enough to be jaguars instead?
By the way, Post colonial Great Britain acquitted themselves well in WW I and II so I'm taking that part as a compliment.
Michigan's fan base is no more delusional than OSU's.
- At 12-0, Ohio State was overrated. They played no one. Yet an 8-5 M*chigan team(that Ohio State beat) was underrated.
- "IF DENARD HAD BEEN HEALTHY, WE WOULD HAVE WON"(Ignoring that Simon didn't play)
- Hoke is struggling because of RR recruits.
Yes there are Ohio State fans that go overboard, but not to the extent of most M*chigan fans. They are up there with Notre Dame, and Tennessee fans when it comes to being delusional.
BVW - OSU fans are the only people in the country who don't think that their fanbase is delusional. In a shocking coincidence, Michigan fans are the only people in the country who don't think that their fanbase is delusional.
OSU fans are nationally known for being just as pasionate (and delusional) as all the schools you listed above, plus the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State and just about every other big national football brand you can think of. They're all equally delusional, just in their own unique way.
OSU is a great football program and has a great fanbase, but there is nothing about your fanbase that is in any way more rational or above the fray than all the other big name programs out there. When it comes to college football fandom, we're all overly emotional and irrational like 13-year old girls, and that's just how it is.
Mark May..cowboy troy is cooler than you...and there's not anything cool about a rapping cowboy..
Of course we're on upset alert. Most underdogs tend to pull an upset because they have a strength that can exploit their opponent's weakness. In fact, much of college football boils down to this very fact.
We've been suspect on underneath routes to the tight end, and -- oh, I don't know -- Penn State's offense tends to not just utilize said routes, but to thrive upon them. If Hackenberg isn't rattled by our pressure and the crowd, we could be in for a seriously long night.
I'm no fan of Mark May, but this is common sense.
The "upset alert" is a cop-out. It is the commenter's way of being able to say "I told you so" if it happens, while not actually making the actual prediction. It is basically calling the game both ways.
Make their asses quit! - Nick Saban
Ehhh, it's not just that. I mean, the point of ESPN's college football shows is to normally provide analysis -- and when you're scouring this week's slate of games, OSU/PSU is a natural choice. Sure, to a level it's ego; but in reality, it's a pretty legit observation -- even if it's incredibly simplistic.
An example of May "calling it both ways" was when we played Wisconsin, where he picked UW for the upset and then criticized OSU for not winning big enough.
Yea, that's pretty crappy. From a broadcasting point of view however, calling for an upset creates interest from viewers who would otherwise not be interested in the game. That is not meant to deflect from the fact that May is a schmuck.
Btw, I'm impressed that swype accurately recognized "schmuck".
Agreed, May's the prototypical "schmuck"; capable of doing nothing more than offering contrarian, incediary opinions (usually countered by his lisping foil, Lou Holtz) designed to do nothing but to move the needle. Nonetheless, I don't think he's trolling here; it's just that anything out of his mouth that isn't complimentary toward OSU is seen as such -- even if he's raising a good point.
I would post a picture or two here, but it is probably a bit too NSFW so I'll just provide a link if you are interested. Thujone is a genius, but he does have a bit of an obsession with the male anatomy.
I wonder if I will ever see the day when this troll no longer bothers grown men and 11W is free of forum posts about him. Because if that day ever comes, Mark May will slowly disappear into oblivion and no one will care.
A man can dream..
STOP TAKING THE BAIT!!!!!!!!
Heres what I don't understand. Mark May and Clay Travis etc always put us on upset alert to try to prove we are a bad team. If they were smart(hint they aren't), they would pick us to win by 21 plus and then after the game when we win by 7-13 say how disappointing we did. Its hard to bitch about a ten point win when you pick us to lose ass clown.
Mark May puts us on upset alert almost every week. He's bound to be right eventually. However, I think this is more fitting:
He must have been wearing panties when he made that upset alert.
Outside of the posts on here, I have found a way to completely avoid the MM. I seriously am happy to say I haven't heard his voice yet this season. The perk is, I don't have to hear Reece and Lou too.
Unfortunately I get to read Travis Haney's crap on ESPN every now and then because I disdain him yet can't stop reading his stuff because it is so out there. I actually find him comical. MM is a hater, Haney is just out of his gourd! His latest debacle is how to beat the top 5 teams. Every other team gets actual criticism and analysis, but OSU: positives "they have gotten some speed at RB and QB now" and how to beat them "I can see any team beating them, they are not as good as the others". He states a coach says this, I doubt it. I doubt a coach would say something like that straight up without the author having some liberty.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Muck Fark May
I dont have a problem with May calling an upset at all. Its a reasonable pick, though not at all how I think it will play out. I do, however, think that it is unprofessional to call OSU the "Ohio Buckeyes". While i think Hoke's references to OSU as "Ohio" are a bit contrived, I do get that its part of the rivalry. (my personal view is that references to OSU as O$U and Mich as Scum are a little silly, but i get that as well). May doing the same thing is another matter; he can pick whomever he wants, but he should avoid trying to denigrate teams. In theory, he is supposed to be impartial, or at least somewhat professional (though i assume he does things like that to stir the pot and fits in with his role as an imbecile).
Who is this Mark May character? Does he have any credibility?
Mark May is so dumb that when he hears it's chilly outside, he grabs a bowl and some hot sauce.
Mark May is so dumb he got hit by a coffee cup and told the police that he got mugged.
Mark May is so dumb that he tried to climb Mountain Dew.
Tried to climb Mountain Dew.... lol.
I remember when i was in elementary school, the joke was that Mountain Dew was the sweat between Dolly Parton's....... errr......mountains.
Having zero talent as an analyst leaves him desperate to do whatever it takes to stay relevant. Trolling the team with the largest fan base in CFB will certainly do that.
What about our instruments??
I'm putting Mark May on DUI alert. I'm bound to be right at some point.
"You might outsmart me, but you'll never outwork me"
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
Is Mark May that dumb?
That's like asking is the sky blue? Is the grass green? Does the sun rise from the east and set in the west?
Class of 2010.
Until our defense shows that it can dominate a football game (or at the least defend the forward pass), I think it is fair to say Penn State is good enough to win this game.
That said we should win by 20.
Putting the Buckeyes on "Upset Alert" isn't anything "dumb". Penn State is a better team than most think.
MARK MAY (and his known historical hatred of OSU) putting OSU on "Upset Alert" is just typical Mark May taking a jab.
Yes he is. He also wears women's panties. Pretty sure Craig James killed some hookers too.
The Zooker picked PSU to upset tOSU. I guess he has more guts than May.
I wouldn't expect anything less from Mark May, as they say down here in the South "Bless his heart!"
Only helps the Buckeye cause, from a motivation standpoint. Billboard material.
I may not be able to outsmart too many people, but I can outwork 'em.
If you shoved Mark May's brain up a gnat's ass, it would roll around like a bee-bee in a box car. That is all...................more bourbon.........
