PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
it was actually a pretty good article all around. i dont know how to post the link but its on espn cfb home page.
Normally wouldn't post a link from the WWL, helping Bull out with this one.
FWIW, actually a decent read.
Look for his take on Oregon's Nick Aliotti's reaction to Wazzou's Mike Leach's modus operandi in the Ducks win over the Cougars from Saturday.
*EDIT* - DUPLICATE THREAD, RoseyCheeks had posted a similar write up last night:
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
I thought it was a decent read, too, and chuckled with he used the word mediocrity. Heh.
I'm sure he will be reprimanded and fired for undermining the mighty SEC.
*Breaking News* Mark Schlabach has been fired. Clay Travis has been hired as his replacement.
Our Honor Defend!
Because it's true....I'm so glad someone at ESPN actually said something truthful and has facts from this year's SEC 'marquee" match ups to back it up. Love it! Even LSU vs Bama will be 'marquee' since LSU is still in the top 15 (JOKE)!
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
This type of talk must be Tressel's fault or some how linked to tatoo's for trinkets.
Sorry, but this is horseshit. Ohio State isn't shellacking their opponents? Try averaging 45 points per game, good enough for 7th in the nation, followed by only giving up 19 points per game, good enough for 22nd in the nation.
Top 10 offense + Top 25 defense = a really fucking good football team. They're not getting any love because people have decided not to give it any love. Rankings are biased, and as this season indicates, they are often really really wrong. So, basing your opinion about Ohio State's schedule on a flawed, arbitrary criteria that you know is flawed and arbitrary is stupid.
I posted this yesterday, but it seems relevant to the present discussion. Mediocrity seems the right word:
For those who are curious, over the last three seasons Alabama is 20-2 against the SEC with an average score of approximately 37-10. In that time only LSU and TAMU have played them close, and UGA gave them a game in the SECCG last year. Next time somebody starts praising SEC depth, those numbers should help you respond that, yes, after Alabama there are a lot of other teams in the SEC, not many are very good at football, however.
edit: if you remove TAMU and LSU, unsurprisingly, the numbers get even worse: average victory becomes 40-7 and includes wins over #14, #12, #11, and #21 teams. Yep, plenty of depth in the SEC.
