PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY KNOW IT
6'4 250? Where did he find all that weight? I can't wait to see him get some real reps next year as Miller's backup. Dude had a rocket launcher arm at Glenville; I can't imagine how he throws now...
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
I thought it was 6'5", but either way dudes a bus. I wish they'd let him throw at least one ball deep down field. Heard so much about his arm and all that, I'd like to see it. But I think he'll be fighting to be the backup next year not sure it's that clear cut by any means.
Who do you suppose could seriously contend for the #2 slot other than Cardale?
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
Oh right right. So much talent on this team I forget about the young up and comers like Mitchell and Barrett.
He'll be back-up in two years unless Collier takes it away...
I was talking Mithchell the MLB.
I meant that Jones would be the backup QB in two years unless Collier takes it away from him.
gotcha haha. I thought there was some Mitchell QB recruit I had missed somehow.
I wonder if that Mississippi school that used him last week as an example of how not to use twitter, will now use him as an example of how to run like a starting QB. Eat it SEC, we're coming.
Cardale is huge and athletic. Maybe we should have tried this kid at LB ;)
I have a pretty good feeling that he will be starting for in years 1 and 2 A.B. The kid was a much more polished passer than Miller in high school. Sure he lacks Miller's elusiveness and speed, but he is not a joke as a runner. He will also have been in the program for three years by the time Braxton leaves. I have high hopes for him, and thanks to twitter we at least know he has his priorities straight in regards to Buckeye football. I mean come on, this kid is so dedicated to the team that he literally does not have time for classes (or at least did not when he was 18).
Seeing him on the field was like watching a Kaiju lay waste to a city.
Cardale 'Godzilla' Scott...hmmm
Cardale's arm strength is out of this world. There's a lot more to playing QB than arm strength, obviously, but last year my Dad and I showed up way early to the Cal game. The QBs were tossing some deep balls as part of a drill. Cardale waited a few extra beats on his, threw them a good thirty yards further than Brax or Kenny, and did it casually without paying the slightest bit of attention to his form (which sucked- he was basically throwing off one foot).
Kid has a cannon. Ever since my Dad has been hoping he gets everything else together and wins some playing time down the road.
I don't follow recruiting real closely so I was surprised he was a Fork Union Military Academy grad. I think that's pretty cool and should say a lot about his character.
spent a year there after Glenville. Despite an errant twitter post he appears to be doing things mostly the right way. I heard that he has 3.3 GPA so he's playing some school. His development will be interesting, but it will be a dogfight for playing time.
Great arm, good runner - but did you notice that he lost count of the downs at one point? I don't remember when it was exactly, but he had just given to the back on a zone read on 3rd and long. They cut to a close up of his helmet/face as the punt team started to come out on the field. He looked at the sideline, got a dazed, quizzical look like "Why are they coming out?" looked down field at the electronic scoreboard, then got an "Oh, crap, that was third down!" look on his face. Classic. I'm not trying to be hard on him, I am sure he was super geeked to be in the game and pumped with adrenaline. He ran well. It was just a funny moment that I caught and thought "Not quite ready for prime time if you don't know the down!"
The more he plays ..... the better game manager he will become
J.T. Barrett is going to give Cardale all he can handle for the back-up role. If I remember correctly the staff was high on J.T. Barrett's leadership skills.
Should be an interesting battle.
