PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Might need to start another column...
His (Weeden) career is probably over. At his age he won't be doing anything more than holding a clip board. That's if he even gets to do that.
It WAS over when he got hurt but then Hoyer went down. So i guess if Campbell gets injured he would come back.
Which, with the Browns' luck, it will happen.
And knowing that luck, Campbell will probably go undefeated as a starter, too.
Of all the Browns QB's I have watched....he is by far the worse. Reminds me of an NFL version of Joe Bausserman
HANSMAN'S FAVORITE POSTER.
Thats one good looking guy.

"A troll by any other name is still a troll".
I was surprised he hadn't really gotten a shot yet anyway, and since it doesn't really matter, why not?
Browns just don't have enough weapons to scare anybody, and when the opposing D can easilly stop the run with 6 in the box it isn't going to matter.
He does look good holding a clip board.
Just a thought...Would Tim Tebow be a bad choice for us? With the lack of any running game and clearly no options at QB would bringing him in for the rest of the year be an upgrade? Then draft a qb or maybe a free agent next year.
Cant be any worse than what the organization has already.
"Better Luck Next Year"
I would say that there is no chance...but it is the Browns.
I signed him on Madden just for the heck of it with the Browns. His passing numbers were atrocious but he was carrying the ball a lot and at a 4.6 ypc clip.
As a Chiefs fan, I'm actually happy Campbell is starting over Weeden.
We are aware of Campbell and his "quirks" from his years in Oakland. He doesn't move very well for an athletic guy and holds onto the ball a lot. Those are horrible traits when you are about to face KC's defense this week. Let's just say, he definitely isn't Case Keenum and he was sacked 5 times. Keenum throws quick and accurately. Killed our DBs in those quick passes.
And Campbell is injury prone, so get ready to see Weeden again sometime soon.
Trust me, I'm one of the few Chiefs fans that is not complaining about Alex Smith. We've had Tyler Thigpen, Matt Cassell and others. I totally feel for you guys. Having a decently competent QB is a big difference.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Campbell's not the answer. You're right about that. The traits you mentioned about Campbell are the same issues Weeden has: doesn't move well, holds onto the ball too long, has red hair, etc.
Part of the reason Hoyer had success in his 2 games was that he was quick on reads, decisive, and got rid of the ball.
At this point I'm looking to next year, but at least I've seen that when they get good QB play, this team can be successful.
I'm sure Campbell isn't going to come in light it up, but I hope that his decision making is at least slightly better.
It has to be, right?
This should work, right?
Class of 2010.
Ugh. I really hope he stinks too. If the Browns play their way out of a competent QB again (A. Luck), I'm going to lose my shit. With all those quarterbacks up there on that long list of starters, how many were actually supposed to be "franchise quarterbacks" by someone other than the delusional front offices and equally delusional fans?
I count maybe two including Tim Couch and Brady Quinn, but even Brady Quinn was a stretch because he 1) lost every big game he played at Notre Dame and 2) dropped to the bottom of the 1st round for a reason.
The other so called "franchise QB's?" Washed up veterans (Dilfer, Garcia, Delhomme, Wallace, etc.), late round worthless picks (McCoy, Frye) or duds drafted in the first round who didn't deserve to be picked when they were (Quinn and Weeden).
So that makes Tim Couch essentially the only "can't miss" QB the Browns have missed on. Why are they so afraid to do so again? Especially when most of Tim Couch's failures had nothing to do with him. They need to stop drafting lesser caliber QBs and expecting them to do big things. Weeden was ranked the 4th/5th best QB in his draft. By drafting him in the 1st round doesn't make his talent any better than drafting him in the 2nd. I realize hindsight is 20/20, but you can't expect the 4th or 5th best QB in a draft to be elite just because you drafted him high.
The only way to compete in the NFL now is to have an elite or above average QB and the Browns won't win until they do so. End of rant.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I still think McCoy was better than a lot of the guys they've trotted out there, he just keeps getting his head knocked off.
How Troy Smith never found his way onto the Browns roster will always be one of the universe's great mysteries.

To be honest, you have to be thinking it can't get any worse. I believe he athletically brings a lot more to the field then our current mouth breather.

With as bad as Pittsburgh has been, we're still the laughingstock. FML.
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
Heard they thought about starting Hoyer:
He would STILL be more mobile than Weeden
Agreed. I was actually excited about Hoyer. So, of course he gets hurt.

It has been nothing but laughable for years.
As a die hard Browns fan, you guys dont understand how bad I want Johnny Manziel playing in Cleveland last year. Is he the most polished, or projected to be the best QB in this class...probably not. But he will be a very good pro imo and will bring a new vibe to Cleveland where it is actually cool to play for the Browns again.
The Browns arent as far away as some ppl think. The defense is one of the best in football. They have one of the top 3 TE's in the NFL (statically #1), a top WR who the Browns re surely going to trade to get more picks. QB, OL and WR are the main concerns with the team. A CB to go opposite of Haden (Roby?) is also a concern. Fix those areas and the Browns are in the playoffs next year.
Who knows, it might just work. I'm game for whatever makes them better.
Please no... I don't want Manziel.
I feel like Manziel is the rich man's version of Colt McCoy (I say "rich" because, well, he's rich)..... Short, mobile and not a very strong arm.
Add the fact that he acts like a total douche most of the time, and I will have to say no to him.
I agree with you about how far away they are. I've said all year that they are a decent QB away from being in the playoff hunt.
Wait. Did you just use the words 'Colt McCoy' and 'mobile' in the same sentence?
Plus, all those chucked up prayers he gets away with now will hardly give me the warm fuzzy's once he enters the league.
I'd take Mariota and Bridgewater over JF every day if the week and twice on Sundays. I don't want any part of his off the field shenanigans, especially after he is given a multi-million dollar contract
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
I agree that I don't want Manziel, but, he has lived his entire life with a multi-million dollar contracts...his parents.
My honest opinion
Wouldn't take Manziel for anything. Mariota and or Bridgewater is what I'm hoping for. Even with one of them, we need more weapons on offense. Nobody scares the hell out of defenses on our present offense. Gordon is good, IF he can stay out of trouble, and our Te is good, other than that, we got zip. No RB, No QB, and no clear cut #2 WR. But other than that, we're just fine. O-line needs some help too.
Honestly speaking, with clevelands lack of ability to make first round picks work, I'd wait til tbe zecond and draft mccaron or murray. Need to grab a playmaking wide receiver or a stud o lineman first. Because without an upgrade at wr or o line, who the qb is becomes irrelevant. I wouldn't bet against cleveland moving josh gordon before trade deadline...sure he can play, but he's just a bonehead. Here are teams that need wr help who are contending, and would be willing to move a draft pick or two to grab gordon for the stretch run. Not sure why thy haven't tried to hook up with atlanta or indy again. They have both lost their number one wideouts and could use gordons production. Move gordon, add a pick, draft a wr or sign a free agent, draft a stud lineman or pick up a free agent...then get a qb and rb. Cleveland is more than juat a qb away from being a contender. Need to upgrade line and skill spots as well.
Fun fact: The Chiefs/Browns matchup this week features the highest combined win total of any NFL game this week. Browns are even contributing three to that total!
