PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Really Tom? Really ? What an awful plan in second half
Lackluster play calling for sure. Miller was burning them with the pass.
Full ball control mode, to compensate for the effectiveness of Wisconsin passing the ball.
Going to have to be more effective (on both sides of the ball) if they're going to play for a championship.

I love how you always have an excuse for anything even slightly against OSU.
It's obvious to see that the offensive production in the 2nd half was absolutely pathetic.
Its not an excuse its a fact. If you think you could do a better job id like to see it..
Not making excuses at all here. But beating up a team, a coaching staff who is 5-0 (17-0 if we're counting) seems a little far-fetched.
I'm glad they won.
Are there some things that can be worked on? Absolutely.
Go ask a Purdue fan how they feel.
Or a Wisconsin fan, who's team lost one game they should not have lost and another they might have won.
This wasn't exactly M...igan-UConn tonight.
Didn't dv you by the way, hope you're one the first ones praising this team should they play that "perfect" game.
I'm not sure about that las statement. I think that was the best we'll face before a bowl. Now to win a championship on the other hand...
Was Jim Bohlman back doing the play calling in the second half? No speed plays, no Hall, no typical Urban? or did Wisc adjustments shut-us-down?
A lack of J. Hall was most surprising for me. All night it was Hyde and Miller toting the rock with a little Dontre sprinkled in for effect. I know they had a game plan coming in and they stuck to it (with results none of US can bitch about), but I still feel J.Hall could've done some slippery things inside.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Our secondary didn't help matters either. Hell, Abbederis looked like Victor Cruz out their tonight. 200 plus yards, by himself is aweful any way you look at it. Front seven did their job with the running game for the most part though. Totally agree, play calling in second half was just puzzling. Gonna have to do better than that if we hope to leave Northwestern with a "W" next week.
Not just Abbederis having an all world night........Stave the quarterback was made to look like Joe Montana with Fickell's playcalling. :(
THE URBANATOR AND HIS BOYS' JOURNEY HAS JUST BEGUN; 26-0 IS COMING BABY!!
I think our pass defense caused us to go into kill the ball mode.

Get Halll in the game slot the kid..

That was Tressel ball in the 2nd half
Herman passed out at halftime; Tressel just happened to be at the game and filled in. Seriously though, I can see him slowing it down in the last 10 minutes to preserve the victory, but it seemed like the offense lost some creativity and diversity in the 2nd half. I think they should have kept the tempo up at least in the 3rd quarter. Can't argue with 17 straight though.
I think some of this looks more obvious in retrospect than it did at the time.
The first drive of the third quarter was the one that ended on the two deep passes: the near catch by Spencer which had an uncalled pass interference, and a pass that Smith almost hauled in.
Second drive had three runs to make it 4th-and-1, then Hyde got stuffed. If the line can't be trusted to get the job done against a good team in that situation, this isn't a bad time to find that out.
The third drive we scored.
Fourth drive had a couple of passes and a couple of first downs, but ended when Miller slipped in the backfield on third down.
After that we seemed to be in "kill the clock" mode; both drives had one bad play that kind of blew up the rest of the drive (there was also the one run by Hyde when it looked like he made a mistake WRT to the first down marker when he went out of bounds). If the argument is that we should have passed more in the fourth quarter and risked incompletions, that's a defensible opinion, but it seemed that we prioritized nailing down the win over "style points," and that's a defensible opinion too.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
Urban has the final say. I suspect he told Herman NOT to call many passes after the lead got tp 31-14 and NO passes in the 4th quarter.
Tom take off that vest!!!
lets go bucks!!
Being like Tressel isn't a bad thing.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Had Melvin Gordon the Third not been injured in the 2nd half, we might not have had the opportunity to play 'Tresselball' to finish the game.
cant we just give wiscy some credit for playing the way we know they can play? this played out how it usually plays out plus we got the win which isnt always a gimme. just read where wiscy hasnt lost by more than 7 points since 2010! they play bama ball without the 5 stars. just be glad they cant recruit better.......
