It seems every year, the same things are said about the Big Ten... "can't compete with other conferences"
I would like to say that I believe that the Big Ten is on the upside, but I'm not so confident. Ohio State and TTUN are doing some good recruiting, competing with the "big boys". I think that Northwestern and Penn St have the ability to do such, I'm not sure how long O'Brien is going to stick around at PSU. I believe that his end goal is the NFL, and who could blame him. Nebraska is barely average in the recruiting department and seems to be falling apart at the seams. Wisconsin seems to get the most out of their recruits but they would benefit from some athletes. Illinois can't even seem to keep their instate talent home. Indiana, I"m not really sure as to what they're doing. I think Wilson is a bright coach, but that hill in Indiana might be a bit much to climb. Minnesota seems content on JUCO players. Nothing against them, but not many powerhouse programs build thru the JUCO ranks. MSU lands a good recruit every year, but they need more than just the one or two. I could keep going, but I think everyone gets my point. In order to compete with the other conferences, these other schools should really put more effort in towards recruiting.
