The surprise. Exceeding expectations. Stepping up when something is asked of you, doing it unselfishly, and bringing your teammates along for the ride. Those are just a few of the requirements that nominees and recipients of the Zach Boren Award exhibit.
In the 2012 season, Urban Meyer's first, we witnessed a man on a mission come in searching for leaders. One in particular rose to the occasion -- A fullback, asked to play linebacker. And boy, oh boy, did he ever. Not only did he play the position with smarts, but he acted as a leader and put a collective "Wow" on into all of our minds.
I know its early in the year, but I think we can all throw Smooth Jazz Kenny Guiton's name into the hat. How can you not be amazed by the way he's risen to the occasion. We are absolutely lucky to have the best backup/starting quarterback in the entire country. And so, without saying much more, let's make it official.
