No. 14 hasn't played much these past few weeks due to the spread offenses the Buckeyes have faced. If I had to guess, he's been in on maybe 10%-15% of the snaps during the past three games. But this weekend there's no question the personnel on the offensive side of the ball will mandate Grant be on the field for most of the game. Question is: Is he ready?
There have been mixed reviews of his play thus far this year. Some say he's the same bust he has looked like for the past few years; Others have said he has turned a corner. My take is, he's a carbon copy-case of Andra Davis. If there are any Browns fans here, you know what I mean. He has no problem when he has to plug a gap right in front of him or take a guy head-on. He runs into trouble when he has to move laterally, or a player gets going downhill at him. In both cases, he lacks the speed and agility to make plays and spends a lot of time whiffing or over-pursuing.
I could be proven wrong, but we'll definitely find out more Saturday night. Zach Boren is not walking through that door.
