PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
He had excellent coverage on Abbehoweveryouspellthis' socre, fail on the tackle.
He bit on playaction on the long gainer.
He's better than this, and he'll show it.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Accidental downvote. Sorry bro.
They are picking on him.
THEY HAVE NO OTHER CATCHING THREAT! The one that they do have will be playing on Sunday's for many years.
Roby is supposed to be the best cover corner in NCAA? He is getting torched no excuses!
So did Patrick Peterson and Revis in College, I'm dispointed in his play and he's having a rough go, however every player has a rough game...He'll learn and make the necessary adjustments...Now on the good side he's flashing alot of run support skills for his position...Look at some of the positives and know that he's going to be at it hard tomorrow to work on some things.
He played average at best against Cal too. I like the kid and hope the best for him but I'm not pleased with his bad play tonight. This defense can do more when he can blanket best WR.
I'll give you that. Perceptions are fickle. I remember watching a 100% Grade A, All-American cornerback play 10+3/4 games of hellascious football, only to have one slip against Tia Streets be his most memorable highlight for me.
Lots of football for Roby. 7,8 or 9 more games left for him to play, this year.
Sticking his nose in there so much in run support probably made his stock rise, IMHO.
****igan smells like old water that hot dogs were boiled in. FACT
said about no NFL 1st round pick ever......
Oh wait, maybe Ryan Leaf......
Oh wait......... fuck that........lets go Roby!!!!!
edit....Watching the Buckeyes sometimes stresses my out.
Do you think that Roby looks good tonight? Made some nice tackles but has been average on coverage.
He is getting beaten pretty badly on that island.
He looks good in run support and tackling but Abbrederis is taking him to school in one on one. He better hope he has a team that plays cover 2 draft him or he better start thinking about coming back for another year.
I'll bet that his draft position went from mid first to 3-5 round. He has looked poor all year on coverage.
PURE NONSENSE. HUNDO says no chance past 2nd. I'm calling you out, Nathen.
Well, Roby stock going down a bit....Aber stock is going up. Gotta give Aber credit. He's a player.
Roby- Mid to late 1st, mid 2nd at worst
Abberscrableletters- prob high 3rd to 5th all the way to UFA, a steal as a slot at ANY 3rd or higher pick IMHO.
Withers needs to have a talk at half - did Roby pull something on that early tackle?
I think Roby is playing hurt. I'm listening to the replay, and he was hurt midway thru Q1. Hopefully he will be 100% for Northwestern.
If Roby cant handle Aberdarass, pull him and let Kenny G cover him.
"The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win." - Wayne Woodrow Hayes
If you are going to be considered a lockdown corner then you need to be able to take away the other teams top WR. Unfortunately for us we are finding out that we dont have one. I like Abbrederis and will admit that hes good but he isn't a top ten WR in college football and that scares me going forward. I actually called for the defense to have Roby man up Abbrederis all night and I am very displeased with the result as I am sure Urban is also.
Abbrederis runs excellent routes, separates well and can catch anything.
Not defending Roby here, he's had an awful first half, but Abbrederis is turning in the game of his life tonight.
I'm discouraged with Roby, but pissed there haven't been adjustments in coverage. They know Wisconsin is throwing, they know they're looking to #4 first, get him covered.
Honestly, I love OSU, and I love Roby, but damn Aberdarass is making him look bad. That boy will be playing on Sundays for sure!
I mostly agree but I think most expected Roby to get the better of 4. 4 getting better of 1.
Jared Abbredaris is what's wrong with Roby.
It might actually be a positive for the Bucks if they can continue to get away with single coverage on Abbredaris. UFM is daring the Badgers to beat OSU in the air. They have Roby alone on an island with Abbredaris. The one two-deep scheme that Abbredaris beat was not on Roby.
And the other 3-4 plays he's burned Roby? Am I watching the same game? Roby looks not good.
Roby is getting beat obviously, but their QB made a GREAT throw on that first TD where almost all CBs would get beat. He has been beaten a few too many times; I hope he takes it personally and comes out in the second half and makes some big plays
All it takes for this thread to implode is a Roby pick six.....
Come on Stave, serve it up!
Getting ate alive for an entire half and then thinking one pick 6 is going to solve it is ridiculous. If he plays an entire 2nd half lights out and gets a pick 6 the he only finishes even. It still wont change the 1st half or how lazy he looked in coverage in his first game back. The bottom line is he has not performed up to his ability this season.
Put Doran Grant on 4? Maybe that will light a fire under his arse?
@Brutus1972 - Guess you didn't get the sarcasm.
I'll still take Roby on my team, most people I know have bad days every now and then.
Awfully close to calling you a prophet, Hove.
I give a ton of credit to Stave because many of his passes have been RIGHT ON THE MONEY, and Abbrederis made some really good catches.
Wisconsin's O-line is pass blocking very well too, especially in the end of the 2nd Qtr.
I still think Eminem is mental.
Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. The sign said: Disneyland Left... So they started crying and headed home.
+1, totally.. However it looked like Roby was getting away with it too.
Refs called holding on Wisconsin once, but I dunno, anyone think they are getting away with it most of the time?
I was at the game. All night on the edges.
YES! Like every passing play. And it's was obvious, blatant holding...no question. I just re-watched the game as I thought I was just being a homer last night during the live broadcast in thinking W was getting away with it. I also looked to see if OSU was holding as well. I only saw one play that I thought coulda been called and wasn't. Thanks for the affirmation. I was impressed with Stave and I think OSU was surprised as well with his accuracy, but frankly, I doubt it would have looked so good had he been sacked as many times as he would have had the game been called well. Usually once an OL gets 2 hold calls, they stop holding for a bit. Our D-line was getting to the backfield fast, but was getting held obviously. And yes, I know that when you're OSU, you have to beat the team and the refs. Been like that for the 40 years I've been watching college ball.
I think our staff may have under estimated Abbrederis. that kid can play. May need to bracket him. Roby will be fine, but he cant do it all on his own.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I hate abrederris. Hate him. That said, roby is all alone. And I'm pretty sure stave is locked on him from the snap. Just executing and running solid routes. Willing to bet they are making the necessary adjustments in the locker room. And coombs is probably crawling up robys ass right now and lighting the fire.
He just needs to be good now
"Because I couldn't go for 3"
There's your answer!
Roby does make clutch interceptions though!
Robb didn't do anything g there but catch a bad throw caused by pressure! He held ab. All night and was burnt multiple times at cal. This is not the all American we were spoiled by last year. I really hope he finds himself again.
Pretty safe to say Roby doesn't grade out as a champion in this one.
Just going to Chime in here but for most of the game he's been 1 on 1 with a future 2 rounder. Give him some safety help and he'll lock on him without worry
4 is a solid WR but what your not getting is that Roby is supposed to be the best pure lock down corner in B1G. A few catches is fine but 4 absolutely torched Roby tonight. Having a bad night just doesn't cut it for me, he has under achieved so far this year on coverage.
He still needs to work on technique. Maybe he will get that at the next level. He still does a lot of things really well.
I'm sorry but Roby does NOT look like the same Roby from last year.
I agree, he was abused all night. The int was a gift.
What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.
I know he came back this year because he said that he was afraid that he wouldn't go in the first round but the way he's playing right now, he's actually playing worse than he did last year. I'm not saying he can't get back to form but as of right now, I think he's actually hurting his draft grade.
Terrible night. 200 yards by #4.
Offtopic but does anyone think Roby held a lot this game? He was all over #4 and got flagged once....
Insert witty remark
I noticed quite a few times actually. I love Roby, but he didn't perform as well as I'd hoped tonight.
Oh well. Still 5-0.
Correct. He was eaten alive on the fake one way go other way routes.
I remember thinking at the start when Roby got hurt and they said that Reeves was going in to replace him, "Oh shit! Not Reeves!"....lol But the last few games Roby has had, it's like Roby never came back.
All night long. Sadly if he didn't he wouldn't have been able to cover him at all. I wonder if his mobility was affected by the rib injury early on in the game.
Perfect coverage on TD.
Ticky tack calls on interference/holding calls.
No big deal. He'll get those back.
Aberda......is good, but there are A LOT of more talented receivers out there.
Roby got torched tonight and I pointed this out two weeks ago too. He's just not playing to the level that he needs to if he's going to be "Mr. All-American." His body language almost looks like he's not even trying.
Roby is still good but is effort isn't imo. I think this game will be a wake up call for him though and he'll start putting in a lot more effort and taking less plays off. I can see him having a big rest of the season. All the credit in the world to Abberderis though, that kid can play. The good news is we won so it's not like he cost us the game.
Roby got his ass handed to him tonite but I truly believe he will have a really good game next week..
"GIMMIE THAT BEAT FOOL!!! IT'S A FULL TIME JACK MOVE" Ice Cube jack for beats..
#4 is good, but he is no Sammy Watkins or Marquise Lee. Roby is normally good in coverage, reminds me of A. Winfield in run support (except for the wrapping up); had a bad night, learn from it and improve your play.
He's no Winfield. Period.
didnt roby hurt his back, i think that threw off his focus tonight and then he underestimated #4/wes walker tonight, i think he will be fine.
lets go bucks!!
How do you not adjust after a 159 yard first half by the guy?
No, a hip pointer.
I think Robey's problem is he's a little to full of himself. He's not quite as good as he thinks he is.
Its easy to look bad when, 1. OSU didn't get any pressure on stave half the time. He had all day, and 2. Stave always looked for Jared.
Watch the replay. Stave had tons of time and Roby had to cover for a long time on a lot of those throws.
Add in that they left him on an island out there with little help. The game plan was to shut down the rush, done! The offense didn't help the defense much late either but they had a lead all game. The D took risks and got hurt sometimes, worked others.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Roby's INT led to the game-winning TD. Just Sayin....
Diesels pressure caused that INT. Was thrown right to him.
There have been plenty of balls thrown to the DBs this year. I'm just glad they're starting to catch them.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
no pass rush will cause this every time! no pressure on stave is whats wrong with roby plus abbrederis is really really good! period
When you give a receiver like aberwhatever 4-7 seconds to work Mel Blount could be out there and it wouldn't matter. The only plays I can remember where Roby really got burned were the two deep outs off play action.
Hence the result of poor officiating. Those 4-7 seconds are the result of holds nearly every passing down. A different game if called even a few times. We need to begin to review the officiating in as much detail as we do the players and coaching. They should be held accountable if they are going to play this big of a role in outcomes, "look tests" and bowl games & championships.
To be honest I just thought he might have been too aggressive on a few plays against a WR that is strong enough to fight through it. Roby made a lot of mistakes last night but none of them were because he was sitting on his hands.
I felt that on a few occasions the linebackers didn't get enough depth and allowed way too many clear passing lanes.
honest moment: every all-american corner gets one David Amerson game.
The scary part to me is that Roby was lining up at least 10 yards off the line of scrimmage and still getting beat by Abbrederis down field. That should not be happening if he really is first round material.
I also felt Roby got exposed in the Cal game, not to the same degree however.
Ohio St is not ready to face an Oregon like team. Things would get ugly.
"You can not use logic" -Gary Danielson of CBSec
I just don't think he's playing with as much meaning and effort so far. Could be from the suspension or his little quote about how practices are tough and always getting yelled at when "I could be getting paid to do thi$." Hopefully he'll start playing back to the level we all know he can.. but so far his play hasn't been screaming 1st rounder. I don't rememeber him getting beat at all last year and it's already happened a few times this yr. He'll get it together though. No worries.
Ya, there's something wrong with him.
