FIRE KIFFIN rains down in LA as the pirate Mike Leach swashbuckles the Trojans 10-7
that was painful to watch
I bet Audry Walker is proud he chose U$C to be part of the darkest days of their history. What a chump. Maybe going to Texas would have been better. Haha
Painful? Maybe if you're a USC fan. As an Ohio St fan who watched OSU lose to them twice just recently I thought it was AWESOME! Laughed out loud like an idiot the whole 2nd half. Then again I tend to be a sports grudge holder.

Me three! And hopefully very soon we'll get to even the score with Texas too
Even if they were 2-0, there'd be a "Fire Kiffin" thread.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
just funny hearing it from the home folks is all
****igan smells like old water that hot dogs were boiled in. FACT
Maybe BVW - but you have to admit, he just seems to be a mediocre coach. His career has been filled with poor performances. I know he's still dealing with sanctions & I know you don't hate the guy like many do, but honest question: would you be ok with him coaching the Buckeyes?
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
My take is that Kiffin was hired to be the bridge during the sanctions. The chance of landing a quality coach who would stick around to see the probation, scholarships and bowl bans through is pretty slim. Now they can choose a coach for the long term.
He was the OC when USC was killin' it during the mid decade. He, along with the boosters' money, was also the recruiting coordinator that brought all that talent there.
Good OC and recruiting just doesn't always translate into good coach. Boosters are probably pissed.

but honest question: would you be ok with him coaching the Buckeyes?
Nope. But I wouldn't be yelling for him to be fired if he were. I'd give him a legit shot.
It just amazes how much hate gets spewed at him.
Ok, got it - it's not that you love his coaching, it's that you feel he gets an unfair amount of vitriol spit at him. Fair enough, I was thinking you liked his coaching, which all haterism aside is just average & looking at the results - always has been IMO.
I don't know why Kiffin failures still shock me ... but this was a really shocking result.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
USC has a linebacker playing Tailback and can't find a starting QB. It's like pre-Carroll USC.
Who cares who the coach of usc is? it aint my school. They could hire lou holtz and i wouldn't give two sH*ts.
With that said i do very much enjoy seeing them lose.
just another psycho, irrational, delusional Ohio St fan
The sanctions they took starting showing o the field last year and will continue into this year. They have zero depth. Oh, and a terrible coach.
Kiffin can't coach. It's just that simple. Leach took over a horrible program and doesn't get top 5 classes and advances past USC. PSU has severe scholly reductions, a true freshman qb and still wins. Karma is catching up to Kiffin.
PSU's reductions will start to show in the coming years. USC's didn't start showing until last year. I agree with you that Kiffin blows. But don't discount what a lack of depth can do to a team.
Penn State: After all of the defections, you would have thought it would have shown last year. I think their program has done a good job salvaging what looked like disaster. Just a thought.
I agree that I am impressed how Bill O'Brian has handled that situation. Even the recruits he has landed have really surprised me and I know I definitely thought they would fail miserably.
this somehow posted twice.
USC's scholly reduction waited til after the bowl bans, so technically 2012 was the first year of reduction. 2013 was the first small class with 12 or so guys
They signed 31 guys in 2011, and USC gets more NFL talent than any school, so it's gotta be Kiffin.
You don't need depth to have a decent starting QB. They have two 4* and a 5* Freshman on the roster. You would think one of them could get the ball to arguably the best WR in the country.
Exactly, arguable the best WR in the country who got shut down on both offense and special teams.

I don't always hate, but when I do it's on USC...
What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.
What I find amazing is how the defense didn't allow a TD, and they still lost. I bet Kiffin wishes he had that defense last year.
I bet he still wishes his dad was still around to make the team halfway respectable.
His dad's defense was awful at times last year.
I was talking about some level of respectability from a coaching standpoint. His father has done well other places. But you make a fair point.
Yeah, his dad was terrible last year.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Bad mojo to fire your one and only father though........
But their D has been a lot better so far.
As long as he is there, let's get them on the schedule.
I'm so happy Kiffin is at USC. I hope he stays there for a long time just like I enjoyed when Rich Rodriguez was at Michigan.
while they are at it they need to fire haden too. he has consistently went out and publicly stood by "daniel tosh". I know you have to back your coach, but there are other ways to do it. I dont know why he has so much loyalty to this guy, he didnt even hire him. if he doesnt already have a short list after last nights debacle, he's a fool.
Lane Kiffin is the Rich Rod of USC. Enjoy his loser ways while he is there.
"I'm still hungry." --Brady Hoke
Lane Kiffin has done a good job taking over Southern Cal, he has created a nice environment for the coach Haden will hire in December....... Morris from Clemson???
Why leave Clemson? The ACC is easier and USC is located in the middle of the Getto. Honestly if I'm the parent of a player I would fight to keep my kid away from that school because although a great university I would worry they would run into trouble. Just my opinion.
chad morris will probly get this job and unfortunately be a good hire. enjoy this while it lasts. i love it!
USC looks pathetic in a loss to Washington State. And for that we thank you.
Kiffin is a horrible coach. Horrible person. And I am glad his team sucks. He deserves everything he gets for the way he treated Tenn like a second rate school.
On a side note, TEXAS needs to FIRE that fraud of a coach. How a state that talent rich doesnt consistently produce natl title contenders is beyond me. He has got to be one of the worst coaches in college. His teams are rated top 5 every yr recruiting, and they still suck.
O-H-I-O for life
"Kiffin is a horrible coach. Horrible person. And I am glad his team sucks. He deserves everything he gets for the way he treated Tenn like a second rate school. "
I agree completely. This guy is as good as GONE.
Well to be honest Tennessee is, however Kiffin is not up to snuff for a program like USC.
If it wasn't for Vince Young, Mac Brown would already have "retired." No excuses there. With the right coach, they could be Alabama.
Give the man a lifetime contract!! As an unfortunate resident of southern california, I love seeing bad things happen to the spoiled children. Kiffin, like Rich Rod, will continue to get Christmas cards from me!!

Yeah, seriously don't fire him. I love having coaches to hate (like Kiffin and Bert and Muschamp) that lose in "easy" games.
An update from out here on the Left Coast
Darling Daughter 2 was out last night and told me that USC fans were out all over the place using chalk to add "Kiffin" after "Fire Lane" around all of the fire hydrants
Funny as Hell

Just helpin' fellow left coaster!
This is a "when" situation, not an "if". I would be shocked if Kiffin is still their coach in December.
Anyone have a link to a video of this? I admit I haven't looked very hard but I'd love to hear it.
I don't think it's a good idea to fire a coach in the middle of a season, but come the end of it, I anticipate Kiffin will be gone. USC would be foolish not to fire him...unless they somehow pull a very good season out of their asses.
Class of 2010.
Firing a coach who isn't performing is the easy part. The hard part is finding someone worthy to replace him. So, who do they hire? Peterson would be my top pick but I would guess that they would steal one of Sarkisian or Chow. Unfortunately for USC fans I don't think he's going anywhere as part of the deal that he would take the team during the scholly reductions and probation. I think he gets another year even though he does not deserve it.
More games like this one might be enough for Pat Haden to break such a deal, if it exists. We could have both USC and Texas looking for coaches come December. Two heavyweight traditional powers. Should be interesting.
My prediction: Sark to USC (duh) and Gary Patterson to Texas (UT fans' Saban pipe dream not withstanding).
Texas should have been looking for a coach 5 years ago. No excuses to recruit like that and then lay an egg year after year. Patterson would be a great get for Texas for sure. Saban will remain sweet home Alabama until he retires if you ask me.
Mack Brown has always struck me as a manager more so than a coach. I mean at some point when you land top 10 recruiting classes and are supposed to be the "class" of Texas, shouldn't you be winning a lot more. I've never cared for him. Kiffin is a turd, but at least he tries to coach himself rather than point fingers and fire guys.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
What is interesting to me has been the falloff in their recruiting. It seems there's been countless stories recently discussing the amounts of recruits from Texas that have chosen to either a) go out of state, or b) go to a different school within Texas. That also includes in-state prospects that Texas absolutely whiffed on by not offering.)
To me, that is the more damning aspect of Mack Brown's decline. I would think part of that is due to the difficulty in replacing highly talented assistants that move on to other HC jobs (e.g. Will Muschamp).
I agree about Saban, plus he is about the same age as Brown and there is no telling if he would have the same success at a real university as he has had at LSU and bama.
Please keep Kiffin. As a transplanted Buckeye out here in California, there is nothing better than coming to work on a Monday and seeing the long look on USC and Raider fan after a loss.
