PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
3. Ohio State
Oregon ran up the score too. It's all style points now. 31 second half points.
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
We're not doing great in the polls right now, but the rest of the B1G is. Once we get into conference play, there could be 3 top 10 teams on our schedule. Don't panic yet.
Ya, the good thing is that we'll play a couple ranked teams soon in Wisconsin & Northwestern, so assuming we can win those games that will help our SoS.
This is what happens when #2 and #3 both play nobody's for two weeks and only one of them plays a full four quarters in both games. Even though a full four quarters isn't needed to beat Buffalo or San Diego State, our Buckeyes still need to prove that they have the killer instinct and endurance to go the full game.
Unfortunately, by the time we play a team that the country even moderately respects, we may have fallen even another spot. Clemson is looking really good and their SOS so far gives them the respect of the voters. Luckily, a lot of these top 10 teams will be playing each other, so several will get a loss on their record, but I'd rather own the #1 or #2 on our own merits and respect than the on the losses by other teams.
Ok Urban, we actually have an opponent this week on the road at Cal. Its okay to actually play the game and not just run zone read left, option left, and WR screen the whole game. That playbook isn't made of gold, you can feel free to open it up a little.
Good grief I realize we are playing crappy teams but you don't stop coaching the game at halftime. We better whoop Wisconsin and Northwestern by 30 points or more if Meyer is going to play Tresselball these first four games. We'll need to whoop them because we'll be ranked 8th by the time we get to conference play. We are still okay, but if we continue to drop then I don't know if we can climb back up. Drop out of the top 5 and we're in trouble.
Another thing that didn't help the Bucks is that Buffalo got destroyed 70-13 by Baylor, and gave up 781 yards in the process.
Very true. However, if these voters had an ounce of sense to them, they would actually watch all the games and realize that we had half our team not playing in the second half of the Buffalo game.
They dont. As evidenced by Oregon moving up after beating Nickelback State. They just see 60+ points on the board.
I cant even believe the Coaches poll still exists. AP doesnt matter anymore since it doesnt count in the BCS formula now. All about perception. And when these guys pick up the paper to see how they should vote its just the final score and stats at this point in the season. Thats one thing I like about the BCS. Their ranking come out when the sample size is large enough.
Your correct. Remember though that the BCS takes the polls into account, so its not just the computers.
Not the AP poll. It is not part of the BCS formula.
Not the AP, but the Harris and Coaches.
