The Browns continue to find new ways to amaze us
I have just one word.......FU@k
Toledo - Ohio's right armpit
"A troll by any other name is still a troll".
They ARE CONSISTENT though!!
even if that means consistently disappointing........
The worst part about this all is Trent Richardson found out about his trade on the radio. They didn't have the decency or respect to call him 1st. Sad!
You win some, you lose some and you Browns some!
Trent might not appreciate the way he found out about the trade, but I'm pretty sure he's feeling pretty good about it now. He left a pile of poo to join a playoff caliber team.
HANSMAN'S FAVORITE POSTER.
3rd overall pick to a team that will end up having a winning record. Logic not even once. Maybe they know something we dont....
The colts have no offensive line they will be lucky to win 5 games
The Colts are better than last year and they made the playoffs in 2012.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
I live in indiana and I respectfully disagree. They were the worst 12-4 team in history last year, if it wasnt for Andrew Luck they wouldnt have won 5 games. They have ZERO offensive line. Have you tryed watching them pass protect? If they win 8 games I will drive to your house and let you donkey kick me in the nuts. NO SERIOUSLY!
I never mentioned their record, all I said is they are a better team than their 2012 playoff season.
Better? I dont see it. They are 1-1 and are one play from being 0-2 against two teams that had less wins then the colts last year combined. I just dont think after the 2 games they played that you can say they are better.
1984 i was 10 and the biggest fan. That year i was already chapped at them for replacing my fav brian sipe for some lefty paul mcdonald but then they fired sam rutigliano. Parents came home to find my jacket and ball cap in the garbage and a hand scribbled steelers fan note on my bedroom door. Probably my best decision ever
The type of "fan" the Steelers can have. Your very first statement is blatantly false. You were the opposite of the biggest fan. You know what happened when I was 10? Art Modell moved the fucking team to Baltimore. At my age, I've never seen a relevant Cleveland Browns team in my life that I can actually remember. There's many just like me. I am a Cleveland Brown. We're the real fans. It's easy to do what you've done.
Couldn't have said it better. I hate bandwagon Steelers fans more than Michigan fans.
GENIOUS!!! (yes, I spelled that wrong on purpose)
Ha ha, those Browns never get it right! Loveable losers for sure!
*Cries self to sleep
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
Well... let's hope the Colts suck this year...
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
how can a front office be a complete cluster f*ck since 99?
god i hate being a cleveland browns fan
Shocking, yes. Not convinced its a bad move though. They need a QB and a WR. You can get decent backs in the 2nd and 3rd round.
They need OL and a CB as well. 43 years a fan of this team and it just never gets better, so frustrating. Too many regime changes.
Good move for Trich though. Wish him the best but I guarantee he rips the browns organization.
I used to say..."god the browns couldnt get any worse if they tried"...well bad news I was wrong and they did try
I had to come in here again to make sure this wasn't a joke.
And to save the rest of you a second, the calendar does not say April 1.
I am shocked and thinking about finding a new team. I am glad I changed last minute and didn't get those tickets to the Browns vs Minnesota this weekend.
Shocked, but a lot of QB's will be available next year. Writing's on the wall for Weeden.
Lifelong Browns fan. Browns jerseys should come with Velcro numbers and letters.
Oh Well Go Bucks!
I agree or we should be able to trade them in for current players I have an Anderson,Quinn,Hillis, and Richardson jersey all down the drain. Only player I have that is still on the team is Haden.
When I heard about this my reaction went little like this????
"GIMMIE THAT BEAT FOOL!!! IT'S A FULL TIME JACK MOVE" Ice Cube jack for beats..
They were starting over again with a QB and RB in the first round less than 2 years ago, looks like they'll be starting over again. What happens in 3 years when the current coach is fired, a new staff comes in, and wants his own players? yep...... start over again.
don't know if Chud will last 3 years.
F#@% the Browns for now.......
I'll be rooting for the 49ers, Bears or Packers from here on out, I guess.
I feel like I'm Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin....
I'm sure glad the Browns sent me down the road in the late 90s and I haven't invested much in them since. I hate to sound like a fair weather fan, but they make it impossible.
It seems to me that Banner and Lombardi want to prove they're smarter than Holmgren and Heckert, so they are ridding themselves of the previous regime's talent. I'm not a Browns fan, but i thought H+H were building a solid foundation. Both Banner and Lombardi have been failures before coming to Clevo. I believe they are beyond over their head.
I saw Adam Shefter tweet this out almost instantly....I actually read over the tweet and didnt think much of it...30 seconds later I thought to myself "Wait, did that say Trent Richardson got traded?"
As a Browns fan, I am confused, angry, sad, happy (because I love watching the draft) I just dont know what to do with this team any more. Thankfully I root for the Bengals also and will have something to cheer for during the season.
No true Browns fan would root for the Bengals. Come on man!
My only true colors are Scarlet & Gray. I have lived in Columbus most of my life and as most of you know 10tv is pretty inconsistent in which team they put on tv between Cincy and Cleveland. Trust me, I have gotten this for a while. If the Browns and Bengals were both fighting for a playoff spot I would root for the browns..
Well at least the Indians are only .5 games back in the wild card race. Go Tribe!
Ha ha I heard this remix on the radio a few days ago and I feel like it fits here.
THE PROBABILITY IS STAGGERING
It appears we have given up already this year.... Welcome to Cleveland, Teddy Bridgewater!
Tankin for Teddy
Please don't draft him and ruin that kid.
The o-line sucks, but he has averaged only 3 yards a carry, he is always injured, and he cannot hit the whole without dancing around. Trading T-Richardson for a first round pick was a good move
Agree 100%. Too slow for the NFL, danced around way too much.
Trading T-Richardson for a first round pick was a good move
Trading T-Richardson for a first round pick was a good move
it's so much fun treating your fans to a 2-14 season. But I guess you're right, because the Brown's kill it when they draft in the 1st round.
What has T-Richardson shown to show that he would drastically improve the win total over his replacement (Willis McGahee)?
what makes you think Richardson will be any less of a player than the one they will get from the pick the Colts give them?
Center dude from Notre Dame, I've forgotten his name, and refuse to look it up
Need I go on?
Jeff Faine was the C from Notre Dame.
As far as different from the past picks, this is a completely different regime. So far I really like what they have done bringing in Bryant, Kruger, and Bess. I also think Mingo will be a good pick. It was pretty clear from this past years draft (trading for future picks) that they were raising the white flag this year. I am not saying that I agree with it, but this team has so many holes.
Go back and look at Lombardi's draft history last time he was running the draft for the Browns. Look at his draft history with the Raiders. Banner was the salary cap guy in Philly, not the personnel guru.
Browns fans became the latest people Haslam has defrauded.
Those were 4 different regimes picks. The same guys aren't in charge. There's no correlation in guaranteed sucking.
You've probably been saying the same thing for the past 3 regimes. No Browns fan on Browns fan hate here, it is funny yet sad. I'm so tired of them sucking. I was in Municipal Stadium for their last home playoff game vs the Patriots in the 90's, and it seems like a lifetime ago.
You left off Couch, Mack and Haden. Mack, Winslow, and Edwards all made the pro bowl although Edwards only had one solid year. Haden was completely robbed the past two years when he did not make the pro bowl and Faine was a pro bowl alternate once or twice for Tampa and/or New Orleans. Overall, the Browns have struck out more often in the second round than they have in the first round.
300 carries and only two runs over 20yds...
The only player left on the roster with a carry in 2013 - weeden with 2 rushes for 7 yards.

the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
Well best of luck to Richardson, he can actually play for an NFL team now. With two picks in the 1st I'd like to see the Browns grab Marqise Lee and an OT/OG. Although I could stomach them drafting Tajh Boyd with their 2nd 1st round pick, but for any QB to be successful in Cleveland, they need to HEAVILY build up that O-line.
Opening myself up for all sorts of abuse here, but I thought he was overrated, and I'm not sad to see him go
An opening next year for Hyde?
Agreed, would love to see Hyde in a Browns uniform.
Sorry, but to say Hyde is better than Trent is crazy. I'll take every downvote with pride, atleast i'm not biased.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere, & Michigan still sucks
Never said he was a better college player, but he could be a better pro. If he goes somewhere, I'd rather it be a team I favor rather than some soulless outfit like the Patriots or Ravens
Holy f&ck. Let me start off by saying I am a lifelong Giants fan (I was born in Brooklyn); I have adoped the Tribe and all my teams are a mixture of NY and OH. I am also a Mets fan, and this is a Mets move. I kept the Browns as my second team since '99, and I am just stunned. Wow.
All week long, Meyer preached to his team that he wouldn't pity Buffalo (4--8 in 2012). "I didn't schedule this game," he insisted. "I'm not going to feel bad for them."
Brilliant move Browns! Hahahaha
Class of 2010.
What a dumpster fire! I'm glad I switched over to the Chicago Bears back in the 90's when the team left for Baltimore. I feel bad for all the true blue fans... :(
“I have yet to be in a game where luck was involved. Well-prepared players make plays. I have yet to be in a game where the most prepared team didn't win.” -Urban Meyer-
9 undrafted free agent rookies, no replacement for Buster Skrine, no fullback- It was obviously decided before the season that this team wasn't good, the QB was not the answer and the best way to get better was to suck even worse this year.
T Rich- although he was the best back on the team- hasn't proven to be the next Adrian Peterson or anything close to it, so getting a first round pick for him isn't the worst thing in the world for the future.
The Browns are in a position to get a -hopefully- franchise QB and a top shelf CB in the first round and still have a 2- 2 third round picks, 2 fourth round picks and 2 fifth round picks.
I have no idea if they are competent enough to do anything with those picks but I will continue to cheer for them due to some yet unknown defective gene.
Joe Thomas to Denver next?
They signed Clady to a 5 year deal in the off-season, so I don't see the trade to Denver even though Clady is out for the year.
Maybe the Packers
I thank god I was born a buckeye.....it makes up for being a cursed browns fan.
I know man, I always say that too. Thank God for the Buckeyes. talking browns fans off the ledge since the 80's.
I can't help but think that the Browns front office has somehow retained Matt Millen as a consultant, or worse, actually hired him.
- From a Lions Fan -
Nah because then every first round pick would be a WR
Asshole owner is a fucking Steeler fan. Nuff said.
It the Browns, should we really be that surprised? I kid, but really...
Born, raised, educated, and will die a Buckeye ~ BuckeyeNation
Browns just hired Jim Bollman as offensive coordinator.
I hear he turned them down because:
A. He can't ruin Joe Thomas
B. There are no running backs on the roster
C. They already hired Todd Graham
Just when I thought they couldn't be any stupider they go and totally overachieve in dumbness. All I can do is laugh. WOW.
Its good to be the king
Well, giving up on a season after only 2 games is a new low.
I think Jimmy Haslam is pawning off assets to finance his defense team. If he's guilty, he shouldn't be allowed to hand the franchise off to his kin. Him, Lombardi and Banner can all go take a walk as far as I'm concerned.
The goddamn Browns. Yet, where will I be Sunday at 1? Cussing at Brian Hoyer and watching Willis McGahee run into the back of his line.
Californian by birth, Marionaire by the Grace of God.
Instead of looking North toward the icy waters of Lake Erie, look South from Marion, and dip your toes in the warm waters of the Ohio River Bengal Renaissance............
Didn't they trade up for him as well? This doesn't make sense because the pick they receive from the colts will probably be like 18 or something.
In 2012, the Browns traded the 4th pick overall, as well as their 4th rd., 5th rd., and 7th rd. picks to the Vikings to get the 3rd pick overall, because the prevailing thought was that Tampa Bay wanted (and was supposedly going) to trade up to the 3rd pick to get Richardson.
As a lifelong Cleveland fan, I no longer surprised by these types of bonehead moves by the owners and management.
One of my friends even suggested the ludicrous idea that Haslam was tanking the team so he could move the team to L.A ... interesting, but the Browns have a signed lease until 2028.
different front office
Those days where I struggle with the fact that I am a Chefs fan, yes I said it, I get to watch what you Browns fans go through and totally feel better.
I don't think getting rid of Richardson is that bad of a move. RBs can be found a lot easier than other positions, as long as you have a good Oline. He is good but wasn't exactly turning around the program.
but when you give up picks to move up to draft him, then use the next first round pick on an over the hill rookie QB to only turn around and give up on the QB and trade away Trich for a pick that will be significantly lower than where you drafted him: WOW!
All that I ask is don't ruin Teddy Bridgewater and draft him. Draft that Ahole Manziel and ruin his career. Too bad the Browns don't draft significant buckeyes. Carlos Hyde would be a great back to have in the 3rd or 4th round. God forbid the local pro team would draft a local buckeye. People might be interested for once.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
I'm far from a diehard Browns fan, but I live within the media reach of the Cleveland sports teams so I follow the news. Here's my take: drafting Trent was a dumb move in the first place. The Browns used a top pick on a running back when their entire roster was a collective dumpster fire. Every year a team will pull a running back off the trash heap and get solid production out of him, provided the rest of the offense is competent. Further, even a great running back has a limited shelf life in most cases due to the amount of hits taken. Many teams in the NFL use multiple running backs for exactly that reason. For every Adrian Peterson at the top of the draft, there are far more wastes of picks. It's nothing against Trent, it's just that using that pick on a running back is crazy the way the pass happy NFL is played these days. Finally, if my limited shelf life argument holds water, they may as well get rid of a high value running back before he takes too many hits running for a perennial loser and loses all value, all the while giving up his most productive years during a period in the teams's history when they have no chance to compete. If the Browns turn next year's 2 first rounders into something respectable, and continue to work in free agency, they might actually be able to compete in the near future. It looks to me like both Pittsburgh and Baltimore might not be as good as they've been in years past and we all know the Bengals (the team I grew up with) will find a way to snatch defeat from the hands of victory, even if they do make the playoffs. In other words, the Browns arguably have a window here in the AFC North where they could do something in the next few years, even if they're not a great team, but it makes no sense to build the future on a limited shelf life running back.
Excellent post agree wholeheartedly.
If the Browns turn next year's 2 first rounders into something respectable
If the Browns turn next year's 2 first rounders into something respectable
That's a pretty big if. Nothing this organization has done gives me confidence they will be successful doing this. This was the argument people used to justify trading away the pick the Falcons used on Julio Jones. And we all see how that turned out.
You have to take that shot as a new regime though. There is no sense in watching this team suck with TR and not get anything out of him. With these two first round picks, they can go something like this overall in the draft:
RD 1: QB and WR
RD 2: CB
RD 3: G and RB
RD 4: 2 picks for whatever. Take some effing chances on guys like Honey Badger.
Also, besides Couch, have the Browns really missed on a franchise QB? I don't really think so. I'm not saying you have to draft a guy top 5 to find a franchise QB, but both Quinn and Weeden were first round stretches. I know Quinn dropped, but he wasn't that good at ND. I'm not saying Luck would have been guaranteed to be good in Cleveland, but they haven't drafted a QB even close to his caliber. The rest of failures at QB's were scraps or late round picks that were realistically never an NFL QB to begin with.
From a "money" or old draft standpoint, yeah the TR pick was a waste, making the trade seem like a waste. In a franchise struggling to do anything, these are the stones you must have to possibly turn it around.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
Well I'm glad I changed my mind last week and didn't buy a Trich Jersey. I am extremely disappointed but on the positive side. Would anyone have been able to do anything in the Browns backfield this year? I highly doubt it. Now the question is how bad they can screw up next years draft?
I am cool with TRich being traded. I didn't like the pick to begin with. Dude hasn't produced and Cleveland gets a first round pick out of the deal. What's not to like?
I don't understand why fans are upset.
Hey I'm not - until they waste the pick on yet another "franchise QB"
First post on 11warriors after reading the site religiously for over a year, it's too bad the clowns had to completely ruin it. I just don't see any sort of upside to this trade at all. Not to mention, what are they going to do with that fantasy football commercial T-Rich was in now? Will they reshoot it with him in a Colts jersey? That commercial was the comedic relief I needed to push through watching our depressing offense these first two games. My goodness we are going to be terrible this season.
In Urban We Trust
Regardless of whether or not you are disappointed with this trade, one thing is clear: the Browns can't do anything right. I feel bad for some of their real die-hards, some of which are good friends of mine. But nobody should have to take beginning a fan of the Browns seriously.
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
Is Mike Brown buying the Browns?
He was supposed to be the owner in a perfect world, sadly. At least we'd have some Lombardi trophies on 76 Lou Groza Drive
Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Right now I am reading a lot of denial and anger. This is good. It is healthy to move steadily through the grieving process. This is an annual ritual for me in fact. Steelers fans, this may be new for you, but I think it is time for you to get acquainted as this will be a long year for you too. Bengals fans- enjoy the ride to the playoffs, because once again you will lose in the first round. Baltimore, you are deader to me than the dead poet from whom your name is inspired.
The Browns have decided they need a high first round pick to select a O-lineman or a Corner. Either will be paid less than Richardson.
Don't feel too bad Browns fans... fan favorite Mel Kiper says its a win for the Browns. It may work well for them in the end.. get a good QB with their first pick and a good OL/WR or Def player with the second 1st rounder. Although I think Richardson will tear it up in Indy with a good QB to keep defs honest, I think the browns could get some good value here in building for the future...and always find a RB in later rounds.
If Kiper was so good at his job he would be on a team in the NFL
Play dead for Ted.
“Nothing that comes easy in this world is worth a damn.” -Woody Hayes
are you telling me the Colt's couldn't have at least sweetened the deal with one of their back up CB's or OL? that's what the Browns are desperate for right now. geez.
In the other thread I opposed drafting a QB, as the O-line needs serious work, but I would certainly take a draft like this (1st 4 rounds):
WR-Sammy Watkins (Clemson)
QB-Tajh Boyd (Clemson)
OT-James Hurst (UNC)
OG-Anthony Steen (Alabama)
OG-Xavier Su’a-Filo (UCLA)
S-Craig Loston (LSU)
CB-Marcus Roberson (Florida)
It would address the QB position, both OG positions, provide a possible stud at OT, provide the offense with a playmaker, as well as replace Gipson and Skrine, who are just turrible.
I like your thinking here. way to stay positive. but then again, isn't it kind of depressing that it's only 3 weeks into the season and we're already talking about the draft? ... (face palm, trombone goes "Wah Waaah") sigh. such is life.
Yeah, this all sounds great--until everyone gets fired after next season, and a new regime comes in and decides that all these players don't fit with what they want to do ... so they have no choice but to trade them for draft picks.
Think this is hyperbole? We're less than 18 months removed from Richardson and Brandon Weeden being the Browns top two picks. Now Richardson is given away and Weeden was all but told sayonara in Chudzinski's remarks earlier in the day, which all means that guess what? Our top two needs in the 2014 draft will be the same top two needs we had in the 2012 draft. This is stupidity beyond anything the Bengals ever did in their long sojourn in the wilderness.
How is any Browns fan supposed to put any faith in anything, as long as the door never stops revolving? How do they justify bailing on a season after two games to the people who bought tickets under the impression this wasn't going to be a 20-game tryout camp for 2014? I don't have much of an opinion on the merits of the legal trouble Jimmy Haslam is in, but if he treated his Pilot customers like he's treating the fans in Cleveland, the charges start to look a lot more believable.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
I just want to be able to buy a fucking jersey I can wear more than one year. I may have to go get a Bernie throwback till the browns get there shit together
Just play safe and buy a Joesus jersey
TR was an awful pick at the number 3 spot. They cocked up that whole first round by adding Weeden to that nightmare. I am glad they were able to get a first round pick for him. They basically pantsed the Colts on this one.
I'm amazed they could get 1st round value for him.
The colts will have a better chance at maximizing him anyway, as he couldn't do chit when teams wouldn't respect weeden and stacked the box instead
Ok so with TR they would probably win 5 games (not likely) and with out him they will probably win 3 games. They get a first round pick probably in the 15 - 20 range to go with a top 3 pick. Plus 2-3 2nd round picks and 2-3 3rd round picks. they have a lot of options going into the draft. They get rid of 3.5 yds a carry (back ups can do that) and get a first round pick. I will take that.
Jim Nantz gives some real clarity on the Browns new front office, this was from a few months ago. Great listen.
I wish the Browns would trade me as a fan.
Thank you for this laugh. My favorite comment of the day!!
I gotta admit, when the season began this was the LAST thing I thought would happen. In my cynical view I thought Richardson would end up with a torn ACL or something but he was STILL GOING TO BE WITH THE TEAM.
If you are a Browns fan and season ticket holder you have GOT to be livid. They've thrown in the towel after two games!
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest Civil War analogy EVER.
Now it will be even cheaper to see the Bengals when they come to town next weekend!
Thanx for helping my Cincy BENGALS out! No worries from up north once again. Life is good.
So I was at first almost disgusted with the Browns for this move. . Tanking? Absolutely...but its what I think they are doing that makes it smart. What is Trent worth with NO QB or other offensive skill guys? Not a whole lot honestly. So they tank now and get a top 5 pick(Hello WR Sammy Watkins) that kid can flat out ball. So then they get a late pick in the first and its all about who slides down that far. If Tajh Boyd is still around do they wait for him? Maybe Teddy B slides down to #5 actually as well. Johnny Manziel will slide down that far. The browns are making a play at getting a franchise QB in the best QB class since 03. Hell even the kid from NIU is a good option. Plus they can finally get a threat down the field.
All in all I really think they could have gotten a higher pick but maybe this is the idea. I could see them even trying to package this pick for the #1 overall and taking Bridgewater(Im so tired of Clowney)
You're forgetting that most likely they will already possess that 1st overall pick! How are they going to win w/ Brian Hoyer and Willis Mcgahee?
From a "business" perspective, I'm sure this makes sense to Chudder & Co. The last coaching/management regime did them no favors. It's not unlike when any new business leader comes in to a company, assesses the situation, and realizes that changes have to be made. The quicker it's done the better and it's always painful. But, damn, this isn't the exception in Cleveland since "the move", its the all too familiar rule.
We've heard the term "scandal fatigue" lately. For Browns fans, the more appropriate term is "rebuilding fatigue".....
Jim Tressel has been secretly consulting for the Browns. They just misunderstood him, and thought he was talking about the entire 2013 season when he told them that the best thing they could do was to punt.
You never disappoint Earle. It sure has been one long cluster-punt up in Cleveland......
Sadly, yes. And thanks.
I always tell people that being a Cleveland sports fan keeps me humble. Trust me. I'm the most humble person I know.
I grew up watching the Browns, know all the lore, suffered, but still care. Living in SW Ohio now, and have been keeping an eye on the Bengals. Again, suffering in a different way. I'm here to tell you that you can be a fan of both, and enjoy equal suffering.
It's easy to root for guys like Dalton, Atkins, Giovanni Bernard, and Bucks like Nuge, Sanzzzzzzz, (and Boom and Fragel on the practice squad). The Bernard story is inspiring - his Dad came to the US from Haiti in 1980 with nothing in his pocket. Ended up buying a dry cleaning shop, lost it all when his wife died of cancer, got his act together and now owns a different dry cleaner. Used to take Giovanni to McD and let him pick only one 99cent offering as that was all they could afford.
Chris Carter befriends Giovanni at a Pop Warner game that his son Duron is playing in and helps Giovanni get into Plantation High in Florida, where he then gets noticed by UNC and he goes there, breaks his leg as a Freshman, but comes roaring back to finish his career and get drafted by the Bengals. In this year's training camp, while AJ Green was out buying a new BMW, Giovanni bought a used minivan (said it had lots of room and was practical).........
Hell, even Pacman Jones seems to have cleaned up his act and found a father figure in Zimmer (he said as much).
I know it's not the same as seeing the Browns finally get their act together, but it helps.
I wouldnt mind this move if I thought there was a SURE-FIRE top QB we could take. But I dont see it in next years draft. Who we gonna take that is worthy of nthat kinda pick? (like Luck?) I dont see it....
Put on your SEC glasses - their are 14 awesome QB's who could start for any NFL team right now!
And a couple that could compete with NFL teams.
(And after latest move by the Browns, that may actually be a truthful statement now...)
I'm with ya KB1. And since I'm jaded and cynical due to so many years of eating poop as a Browns fan, I have very little, if any, trust that they will pick the right guy and then be able to take him and develop him. It's much more likely they will ruin him.
Hey Trent, you got out of Cleveland pretty easy, Braylon had to sucker punch one of Lebron's 130lb friends to get his trade.
WOW, just thought about the possibility of taking Roby with Indy's 1st rd pick... I know they need another WR bad, but man that would lock up the D.
I am giving the new owner and management a pass on this move. A quaterback is desperately needed. Brandon Weeden sucks. Maybe this new regime will pick a quaterback and then a running back in the first round next spring. Can the new owner and his management team do any worse than the ones before? Jim Brown did not have a high opinion of Trent anyhow.
And to think, Cleveland could've had Julio Jones and Russell Wilson...
Julio would have been great on any team, but I doubt they would have done right with Wilson in my opinion.
Mighta coulda had Chippy Kelly too. Not sure if that's good or bad, time will tell for Philly.
What's sad is I know exactly what I will still be doing Sunday at 1

Watching Hoyer and a Richardson-less Browns team play the Vikings. Me too.
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.
Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Peter Gibbons: Good point.
I am warming up to this trade after a night of sleeping on it. The NFL continues to prove that you can find value at running back throughout the draft and they got a 1st round pick in return. I know there is no Andrew Luck in this years draft, but I think Teddy Bridgewater has a chance to be a franchise quarterback. He makes solid decisions, has a good arm, and throws a very nice ball. The only negative about Teddy is that they are going to have to use their first round pick on him and possibly may have to move up. I just don't see anyone being worse than the Jaguars this year.
I mentioned in the other thread but I still think Brett Hundley is going to be a name to watch at UCLA. He had a great year last year and he has the mobility that Chud likes, and he throws a great deep ball. All of these things are features Chud likes in a QB.
Week 3 of NFL season and were "talking about the draft and next year"
Sounds about right
"We lost with him, we can lose without him" - Brown de-motivational fake quote of the week
FWIW: I just read an article from CBS sports where the writer said he got the reaction to the trade from some GM's and coaches around the league and overwhelmingly they said they thought the Browns got the better end of the deal. Many of the GM's said they would not have made the trade if they were Indy because they didn't believe TRich was worth a 1st round pick (which I didn't think he was when CLE took him @ #3).
Being a Colts fan, I love this move. Ryan Grigson is a genius. I think Andrew Luck may have his Edgerrin James.
trent is no where close to edge. No where.
He is slower than we thought. Gets injured more than we expected. And frankly, was not as good as 2 other rookie backs that were drafted behind him.
The Browns figure that once they get their stud qb, they will find a plug to play rb, ala Alfred Morris.
O-H-I-O for life
I can see why Colts fans love it, but if you lose in the first round of the playoffs because of the shaky offensive line and an unproven defense, then you'll wish you had a first round pick. Name the last RB to be traded for a 1st round pick? It's just not smart football to place such high value on RBs when you can find great ones in later rounds. He should have never been picked 3rd overall to begin with.
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
I like the trade. Our OL needs to develop. I think Trent will thrive in Pep Hamilton's offense.
im not happy b/c we gave up on him too soon and we still have 15 more weeks of football to watch w/o any playmakers on offense(expect maybe Gordon).
However, im not too sure Trent was going to be a great player.
Even if he was as good as Adrian Peterson, what good would that do? The vikes never make the playoffs and never sniff a superbowl. When they do make the playoffs, they lose in the wildcard round.
The simple truth is that RB's in the nfl do not win games. Only in fantasy football do RB's win championships. In real football, QB's and WR's and great defenses win. Im just glad that the front office for the Browns had enough balls to make this move.
Next draft is loaded and we have 7 picks in the first 4 rounds.
This move will be the one that gets us back on track to becoming a winner.
one more comment about this trade:
Why does everyone automatically think that the Colts will make the playoffs. Has anyone else seen their schedule. By the time week 8 comes, they most likely will be 2-6. The only guaranteed win is Jacksonville, and SF, SEa, Houston, Ten, and Cinci are most likely losses for the Colts.
I can see them going 7-9 and giving the Browns as top 15 pick.
2-6? are you kidding me???
NO. Absolutely not. Here is their next 6 games:
SF, Jax, Sea, SD, Den, Houston.
Please tell me who besides Jax is a game they will be favored to win?
None of those teams have looked iimpressive at all besides Denver. I can see wins against Seattle and Houston and San Diego.
I agree, Colts have struggled against Oak and Mia. I can see losses to SF, Sea, Den and Hou.
Now the Browns should trade Indy's first-round pick in 2014 for a 3rd-rounder in 2015.

Funny thing about it is, by giving Indy a very good running back, they dropped the draft pick they'll be getting next year... They actually did screw themselves over in more ways than one!
The Colts schedule is a BEAST going forward. They are only favored in 3 more games thus far and two are Jax. Browns could get VERY lucky with this pick placement.
