PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
They just announced Braxton will start this weekend.
I'm a little let down with Braxton. Don't get me wrong I love him as QB and what he has done for OSU. I didn't like hearing that him and Urban got into it last week. I know its his body and his career. I just would like it if he had that T.Pryor you have to drag me out of the game type mentality.
I think its easier to rally behind a guy like that. Just my .2 cents. I can't wait to see his improved passing we heard about all offseason. Its one thing I'm sad we haven't been able to see yet.
Point 2 cents? Sorry, couldn't resist. I agree, it would have been nice to have him wanting to play through his injury. Hopefully it was just because of the mismatch because Meyer said he really wanted to go back in against SDSU.
20 cents.... Inflation.

Have any of you ever sprained an MCL before? It sucks.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest Civil War analogy EVER.
If you're not comfortable and feel your knee isn't ready, why risk it against a terrible FAMU team? I'm sure he would have played if it were a big game against a quality opponent and or if he knew we didn't have a legitimate backup.
I didn't like hearing that him and Urban got into it last week.
I didn't like hearing that him and Urban got into it last week.
Was there an altercation I'm not aware of?? Was there shouting?
Everyone has said it was a "mutual" decision...is that not the case?
yea there's something going on behind the scenes. its a personality clash i think. Urban is aggressive and Braxton is laid back. we will see if braxton is ready saturday night. i think having him back along with hyde will energize the whole team, plus the environment will be crazy. could be the first game we are finally 100% less schutt. glad we play them early in the year. i think the game comes down to how much TOSU has improved in year 2 rather than how good wisky is.
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS
Correct me if I'm wrong. He was cleared to play, Urban wanted him to play but he was too sore?
Where did this info come from? Not an ESPN watcher here...was this 'Net stuff?
From Urban Meyer, after the game, if memory serves me right. Changed his tune a bit in today's presser.
Wow. Thank you.
Which I think is kind of weird considering he wanted to go back in against SDSU.
I'll probably get killed for this but why not play if you are only "sore"? So being sore is a reason not to show up for you team? I get paid less than a pro athlete and show up every day "sore". If he wants to get paid for playing then he needs to suck it up.
I wouldn't go that far. We don't even know if that's true for sure. Plus it was FAMU so he didn't need to play. Only he knows how he feels. We can criticize his toughness all we want but it's pointless. Without him we aren't winning a NC so we better hope he feels better.
Athletes "sore" is a lot worse than the everyday persons "sore" is. I have no idea what you do for a living but if an athlete like Miller has to sit out, his "sore" must be ten times worse than my "sore".
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
No doubt, Miller's sore is greater than my sore but I'm not an elite athlete. From what I've heard Urban called him out and he didn't respond. Am I wrong? If Miller really is not someone who could/would stand up to Urban then I think we give Kenny chance to prove him wrong
I don't see why to start Kenny. Ya, he has played great in these 3 games but there was no competition. Miller is the better QB hands down.
I agree. Braxton is the more talented QB. BUT if he didn't want to play last week because he was "sore" should we be worried?
ONLY if his wheels are 100% is he the best "hands down".
Why would you do that? If Meyer asked Miller to start but Miller said his knee isn't ready then IMO that's all there should be to it. He'll come back when he's ready and he is better than KG.
Yep, you asked for it. First, however, I'd like you to clarify if your job and/or future career DEPEND on your physical abilities. I certainly appreciate that firefighters, police officers as well as other professions do (as has mine in the past). But few in those professions are as vulnerable as Braxton is. What would your comment have been had he played and experienced a career ending knee injury vs FAMU? I doubt that Braxton has a $40 Million dollar disability policy.
I am particularly annoyed with the perpetuation of the it's "manly" to play hurt. Actually it's just plain stupid. I've listened to this from both local and national media and read it repeatedly on this site. Really, it's 2013.
So Braxton should risk his career to satisfy fans, the media and prove he's a man? All that proves is that some of the fan base is still functioning as neanderthals whereby the limit of their intelligence is blood-lust, food and sex.
I am a medical professional and the only certainty about a sprain (regardless of MRI's, range of motion and physical exam) is that the patient knows when it's stable or unstable.
So Kudos to Braxton for 1. Having the intelligence to know better than most 2. Looking out for himself (as OSU & UFM would drop him like a hot potato if he were no longer their golden boy) 3. Having the confidence and courage to stand up to the tyrannical UFM and the negative media.
Isn't there a chance though that his "stock" falls because he is deemed injury prone? Again, I think everyone can argue toughness, pain tolerance, etc... All day but I think Skid brings up good points and things to talk about. I know his future depends on his health but his future also depends on his toughness and durability as well. It works both ways to an extent.
"I'll fire when I'm god damn good and ready! You got that?" - Pete "Maverick" Mitchel
The key phrase in your reply is "to an extent". My point is that this was a smart decision and that making a bad decision (playing hurt & risking further injury) doesn't equate with toughness. His future career in the NFL may not exist if he blows his knee out now. Professional athletes with big salaries get disability policies. College athletes don't. He needs to survive OSU to get to the NFL. His durability in the NFL is less relevant because of the insurance policies/contract issues.
I was disappointed that Braxton didn't want to play. I would have liked him to work off some of the rust.
Playing two hand tap with a bunch of 6th graders would work off more rust than Florida A&M.
Personally looking forward to the JT Barrett era.
From what I have heard, there will be no JT Barrett era. There will be a Stephen Collier era.
You could be right, and I could be wrong. The only thing I've read about Collier are his high school stats. I've read about JT Barrett being in the OSU program, his game skills, and his leadership skills. As of right now, Collier hasn't even signed a letter of intent. Therefore, a JT Barrett era is more likely than a Collier era.
We'll need both of them at some point as QBs in our offense are exposed to a lot of hits given the high number of plays per game. Here's to both their future eras.
What does that even mean, "no JT Barrett era?"
It means that Collier is that good.
Better than JTB? I disagree.
No issues with him not playing if he doesn't feel he's ready, and I'm excited to have him back. Best offensive player on this team, by far.
What would have been the point in sending braxton out if he didnt feel his knee was game ready? I understand wanting to get him some work...but how damaging would it be to the ultimate goal of this team if he suffers a far more significant injury to that knee in the FAMU game? If urban had a big problem with him not going last week, you think he would plant him back in the starting spot? Especially with the way guiton has put the team on his back the last 3 saturdays? He may not be pleased by it...but he also sees the bigger picture and knows that if his qb says he doesn't feel right playing then there is something to it. Its a non issue...urban wouldn't start him if he felt he sat out for any other reason than his knee didn't feel game ready. Urban is all about competitors...doesn't matter who it is. You don't want to compete, you can enjoy the game right next to him on the sideline.
"I understand wanting to get him some work...but how damaging would it be to the ultimate goal of this team if he suffers a far more significant injury to that knee in the FAMU game?"
Look i understand not wanting to get hurt before Conference games start but he could have knocked the rust of in the first quarter then let Kenny G keep right on rolling. Unless i was only at 80% and was not mobile enough to get out of the way.
If you are cleared to play by the doctors and Urban wants you to play against FA&M, you play. No questions asked. Period. First off, Urban wouldn't put his star QB in harms way. I'm sure he wanted Brax to play the first couple of series to get his feet wet again and be ready for conference play. They threw the ball in the first half keeping him safe from scrambling. Secondly, Urban is the 'boss'. If your boss asks you to do something, you do it. Miller will find this out when he gets to the real world. The NFL will pass him by if he isn't willing/able to play threw some pain.
I'm not down on Braxton. Quite the opposite. I think he is a phenomenal talent without him there will be no MNC. I think he needs to toughen up a bit and show his teammates he is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win and get better. Even if that means playing sore against a FCS opponent.
"Say my name."
Ok...so the doctors and urban know how his knee felt? I understand they wouldn't put him in harms way...but at the end of the day they also have to go by what the player is saying. Maybe it didn't feel right...maybe he did t feel he could be effective. Miller knows what h is strengths are, and you're telling me he isn't going to want to run? And risk further injury. You don't know all the variables involved. All you have is a sound byte and speculation. End of the day...if urban was that upset, miller would NOT be in the conversation about starting this week. Guiton would be the guy, and urban would say that flat out. He isnt afraid to sit ANYONE who isn't 100 percent ready to go. And he isn't afraid to call someone out.
I don't understand this whole narrative regarding Braxton being tough. He has been in and out of games or hurt his entire career. I am not even saying this as a negative its just fact. He is an amazing athlete with great skills at the QB position but tough has never been a word that I have used to describe Braxton Miller and I am ok with it.
Please define "tough" for me? I seem to be missing something.
I've heard conflicting stories, both from EPSN. He is CLEARED to play, but whether he starts depends on his weekend at practice (from Urban's mouth, and shown on ESPN). The SAME ESPN also said "Braxton Miller will start against WI."
I think Urban wants to see some fight and some energy from Braxton this week.
Honestly, other than the question of whether or not Braxton starts on Saturday, people are making stories where there really is none. Let the coaches coach. They have done a bang up job thus far!
Here is a good article on Braxton returning.. Quote from Corey Linsley, "He looked phenomenal. He was throwing the ball; it was whizzing past me. I was like, 'Wow, he's back"
Future Forum Thread: "Does Kenny G throw a more catchable ball than Braxton?"
Glad to hear that he is back to his old ways, hopefully not too prematurely. But I do think that if Brax does comes out rusty on Saturday night and appears to be struggling that you do have to keep him in to regain his "swag" (unless he re-aggravates his knee, of course).
"Without winners, there wouldn't even be civilization."
Kind of off the subject, WALSHY, but you look kind of old to have just graduated from OSU in 2012.
Just sayin', bro.
That is a pic of the guy with the "golden voice".
For those of you that are complaining about Braxton feeling too sore to play against FAMU, slap yourselves silly!
It was against FAMU! No amount of Rust or experience would have done him any good against FAMU!
I will say it again, IT WAS AGAINST FAMU!
There was nothing to gain from it and EVERYTHING to lose from it!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
^^^Agreed......no way do you risk Braxton's knee against FAMU! +1 IF I could!
Agree if you can't play vs CAL you might as well sit out the scrimmage vs the FCS school. I'm sure even Joe Bauserman would of had an equal ratio of completions and out of bounds throws.
I agree except I heard Urban wanted him to play and he said no.
I think your looking at it wrong. There are certainly Things to learn playing against any type opponent. If that's the attitude then why let him play in a spring game? Why let him play or have any contact in practice? Why let him play against Buffalo? It WOULD be helpful to come in and play a few series. I think you play a pass happy few series be conservative (no running) and get ready for Wisconsin You're saying that wouldn't be helpful?
not if he is SORE, which is the basis of the point!
and asking Braxton to play a few series and NOT run is ridiculous. Now you are REALLY not learning anything except that Braxton can throw the ball against FAMU.
and come on! I'm talking about a SORE Braxton after a knee injury. That has nothing to do with the spring game or Buffalo, which is a dumb point in itself.
if Braxton says "I'm SORE" then a few series would not help at all. All you would do is risk re-injury, and a sprained MCL can get worst no matter if he rushes or not. Have you not seen players go down without being touched? RG3?
it would be too costly to see "how he does for a few series" against FAMU!
I don't have an issue with him not playing against Florida A&M. It was a meaningless game. I am just wondering about his level of rust coming into the Wisconsin game.
Well if I were brax, I would not risk further injury against a team such as FAMU and put my team in an even deeper situation by leaving guiton as our only trustworthy QB..Jones has one series under his belt..I'd say smart move on braxtons part..
What does Paul Keels have to say about it?
Will be interesting if the offense stalls for a couple series what fans will be chanting in the stadium.
Hopefully, those series will be in the 4th quarter with us up by four touchdowns.
Seriously, though, good point. Kenny G has created doubt as to who is the most effective QB for this team, which is exactly what every position playing competing for time is supposed to do.
I think you really nailed the wording. We all know Braxton is the best weapon at quarterback, probably without a doubt the most skilled QB. Kenny may be more effective, like you said. 4.3 40's don't move the offense down the field. I'm not trying to suggest benching Braxton, just giving some food for thought.
If the fans start chanting for Kenny over Braxton, when Braxton has given the school so much and is coming back from an injury, it would be disgraceful. It would be a complete embarrassment for the entire school.
Can we all just back up for a second. The coaching staff, I mean Urban Meyer, knows what is best for the team. Secondly, from what I understand - Braxton wanted to play but Urban decided otherwise. Therefore, questioning Braxton's heart to play the game should not be in question.
I believe our team will be fine at the end of the day. We as a fan base need to to chill and let things play out.
"To have a great life simply follow this rule: Do not bring undo conflict into your life..."

I've refused to go to work because I was hungover, so yes, I'm just as insulted as the rest of you about Braxton not playing because of an injury.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Brax knocks more rust off playing against our 1st team D in practice than he would've in a game against FAMU. Relax people.
Once the rust is shaken off, I expect Brax to ball the f*ck out on Saturday night. He should be fresh and rested and ready to shred Sconnie's D. I'm sure he is chomping at the bit to get back on the field.
We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, we're from O-HI-O!
THE URBANATOR AND HIS BOYS' JOURNEY HAS JUST BEGUN; 26-0 IS COMING BABY!!
Ridiculous that you were DV'd. Upvote to cancel.
An MCL is not only painful... it takes a while to heal.
Considering Braxton's main weapon is his ability to cut, a pair of healthy MCLs are critical to his success.
Give the kid a chance. If he struggles... they can bring in the backup without skipping a beat.
Can't WAIT until Saturday night....
Remember Pulp Fiction? "Bring on the Gimp", that slightly reminded me of that...
What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.
Remember when ESPN created "news" with Jaws saying Kaepernick was the best NFL QB? Take ESPN's "news" with a grain of salt.
I know this is a left field thought, what if Braxton was sore, but also wanted his buddy to get some playing time? I know Kenny is gone after this year. So maybe getting some time will help him get some looks?
As I said left field. I hope no one else already said it. I didn't read all of the comments.
Bury me in my away jersey, with my buckeye blanket. A diehard who died young. Rip dad.
Agreed - And Kenny has been loyal to our program his entire career.
SEC Daughter who played basketball and ran track in HS suffered an MCL sprain while running hurdles. Ouch. Damn thing drove her absolutely crazy because she would think that she was making progress with her knee then it would stiffen up, hurt like hell again AND feel unstable all at the same time. She only had to do something a little bit differently, pivot or cut too much, or bike 10 minutes too long and it would get verrrrry unhappy. The problem with the instability is that it makes you feel like your leg could give out on you with little warning, very unsettling.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
