The Ohio State University Alumni Association recently posted a conversation with the College and Pro Football Hall of Famer, who was in town this week for the Association's annual golf outing and scholarship fundraiser. Warfield shared some memories and thoughts on his time at OSU, and it made for a good read.
I was here in the 60s and we had guys like Jerry Lucas and John Havlicek and those athletes produced championships. So Ohio State has a long, long legacy of producing top teams and athletes. But to see it today, we have one of the top public universities in the country. Students come here from Ohio or around the country and world to receive one of the finest educations you can receive. We have outstanding schools that are among the tops in the nation and producing great young minds. As Woody always used to say we hope they stay right here in Ohio. Woody was parochial in that way and I suppose I am, too.
The Association also shared a great video earlier this year on the life and legacy of legendary coach Woody Hayes and his wife Anne. I missed it then, but caught it when I was surfing the Alumni website. It's brief, but worth a watch:
