PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Not even clicking the link. Sounds pretty asinine.
"Because the rules won't let you go for three." - Woody Hayes

Pretty much, its calling Terrelle Pryor, Reggie Bush, and others' "terrorists" for making money off their names.. and then she goes on to call JM the next Rosa Parks for making money off his name..
The link is actually to an article ridiculing Jen Engle, the author that called Pryor a terrorist and likened Manzel to Parks. It's actually a good article.
I agree. I liked the author's wit regarding the high moronic level that is Jen Engel. Just goes to show (and proven a million times over) that these 'journalists' will write anything and take any side of the story (and then flip their stance a few years later) just to drive viewership to their pages.
Can you blame them? Their tactics are working.
I take back my comment after reading the comments of others. I thought it was a link to her article. I would love a few more journalists to apologize like that Dodd guy.
I don't care. Stop linking this dumb crap so he can just go away, whoever he is because I refuse to click on a link of a dumb writer so he can get credit. Just say who he/she is and what they said so we can concur but don't force me to click a bad link. They will laugh all the way to the bank if we all clicked.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Don't care? Don't read.
nobody is forcing you to click a link
edit: I did not downvote you, btw
The title of the thread clearly states what it's going to be about. Why would you even click on it if you don't care?
FYI, I wasn't talking about the post. I was talking about the linked article. And, there was nothing about this being a link to someone making fun of the article. It ridicules the writer in the title and then just has a link. How about saying "this is a great link making fun of a bad article"?
Many times people post links on here to direct articles of an author giving validation to the authors article. When someone bad mouths OSU or says something stupid, its best not to spread the link so it adds credence to the writers. Its like saying "Stop talking about Tebow" when you bring up the topic. It makes no sense.
and if the OP was a bit more clear about the link, then I wouldn't have ranted.
FYI, I could care less about downvotes. Go at it peeps, I have plenty and could careless if you took them all!
edit someone else already made this point.... enjoy:
This will NEVER get old.
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
He is a SHE, and Deadspin is an conglomerater site so your clicking the link doesn't help the original journalist, just Deadspin making fun of her spin on things. Also, the original journalist called TP a terrorist for selling his memorabilia during Tattgate.
She sounds completely sane.
couldn't tell because the poster didn't point that out. most of the time they are links to the original journalist which does help them. Perhaps a bit of info would help instead of a title and a link.
No worries, SM.
Well the link says "deadspin.com/worst columnist in america compares etc." So I personally thought it was pretty clear where the link was sending you. Obviously an author of a shitbag article like this one wouldnt have titled her own link "worst columnist in america blah blah blah"
"Who cares? Go Bucks." - Aaron Untch
The article is about the stupidity of the person who wrote the article and is not written by that actual person. no worries about contributing to some hacks web views.
Still not giving a damn for the whole state of Michigan.
Its NOT the writer. Its a deadspin article ridiculing the writer. So by not clicking you're actually supporting the terrorists.
WONT SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDRENS!!??!!!
Sometimes I think we shouldn't have the freedom of speech. Some people just don't deserve it
The link was to a deadspin write up about how stupid the Fox sports columnist is. A click will not feed the troll who wrote this BS. Worth the read. She really is an asshat.
Mrs. Engel, here's some advice--from one professional writer to another:
While the lowest common denominator may mean more pageviews, have some goddamned self respect--an article doesn't just contain your words, it also contains your name.
Bravo to Deadspin for calling this moronic shit out.
^ Sums it up.
I'm just a simple IT guy with no writing skills so I will agree with you.
Can we go Manziel free for a day?
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
This is getting worse than the Tebow-fest. I think we're going to be going Manziel free now that he lawyered up. We all know the NCAA can't accomplish anything in under a year.
But the article is right, that writer is a moron.
If only. I can't imagine Johnny Foosball listening to his lawyer when he tells him to shut up and quit signing things.
There should be a small island out in the middle of the ocean. Completely uninhibited, except for stupid people like this.
Unfortunately, that island can't be too small if we're putting all of the idiots there... more like Greenland.
Send them to the North Pole to live with Santa.
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
This is a Fox Sports thing. Jason Whitlock was on the DP Show yesterday basically spewing the same crap. They believe Johnny (Walker) Football has an opportunity to break the "pay for players" mold in college football because he is a white kid of privilege and didn't grow up from hard times. It's a ridiculous argument considering that any kid getting a chance to play big time college football is "privileged". Some of us never had that opportunity. These kids choose to play college football, it is not a right. Fox Sports is trying to push the pay for play in college football.
It has nothing to do with the color of his skin and everything to do with the conference in which he plays. Everyone allows the U of SEC to play by their own rules while the rest of college football is bound by the NCAA.
Whitlock's article the other day was VERY different from this one. In fact, his article shows the lunacy of articles like this one. His article was all about how, throughout this country's history, a lot of unjust laws are accepted until they start affecting white people. It's an interesting read, and I thought he made a very compelling argument.
The columnist who wrote this article has previously called Reggie Bush and Terrelle Pryor thugs and low-lifes, and a ton of other terrible names, but then in this column says that it's an unfair law because of Manziel. That's hypocrisy and it's exactly what Whitlock was talking about.
I encourage you to actually read the Whitlock article, and the one referenced in the deadspin article. Trust me, they're anything but similar.
When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.
Yea, I came away with the same feelings towards the Whitlock article. The only thing he fails to mention (probably because it would have hurt his argument) was that there was no high-profile lawsuit against the NCAA when Reggie Bush, TP, etc. got in trouble for the same things Manziel is accused of doing. I am not one to shy away from a discussion on race and I think there is a need a point for it but I also feel that, in this situation, the reason Manziel may be a catalyst for change is not because of the color of his skin but because he is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner during a time when everyday another blow is dealt to the NCAA because of the O'Bannon case.
"Johnny Gandhi Buddha Jesus Reverend Saint Francis of Assisi Football. Fighting against the unjust laws of NCAA" Best Line in the article.
I clicked the link, then decided to amuse myself by clicking the second link to the actual article being ridiculed.
My IQ just dropped 60 points.
Not.Even.Comparable. Which is why I....
Have to agree with the original columnist, they both had rough upbringings and constantly were made into second class citizens every hour of every day...
Rosa Parks home:
Manziel's childhood home
I knew you were here....I wonder how I knew???? ;-)
Petchesky wrote a good piece and it's well worth the read. Yesterday it was the Honeybadger and today it's Manziel, the Moneybadger. Rules are rules; plain and simple. They may be stupid. They may be outdated. The vast majority of college athletes abide by them. Fuck the Moneybadger for thinking he's above all of it.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
if you can compare a bus in the segregated U.S. to a Texas frat party somehow. I could see a comparison
Rosa had courage and conviction. The Moneybadger is a fly on a pile of dog shit in comparison.
This author also has a good takedown. Im generally a fan of Awful Announcing: http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2013/august/fox-sports-columnist-compares...
Engel apologized on Twitter. That darn internet, it saves everything so the public is informed of hypocrisy, gosh darn it!!!!
I don't give a flying fuck that she apologized. She wrote what she wrote, what she wrote was stupid on every level and there is no excuse. She is lucky that a major media platform has not put a story about it and ruined her credibility.
Okydoky, was just passing it along. I guess you didn't catch the sarcasm in my post.
Nothing against you. On 11W people usually use /s or Italics to mark sarcasm... now I feel stupid because it is obvious.
