PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
I feel we could use him like oklahoma uses the Belldozer, put some weight on him and teach him how to throw and if all fails put him at TE
Or he could just play D.
Couldn't they just use CJ for that?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Warren Ball could be the Balldozer!
"Anything less than flagrant is just playing grab ass!"
I'm not a fan of ever taking the ball out of Miller's hands if you don't have to. I think I'm one of the few that didn't even really care for the Wildcat package with Hyde last year. You have a QB who is arguably the best runner in the country (QB or RB), why eliminate him as a potential threat the defense has to plan for? Just my 2 cents.
Note: Obviously this is assuming Braxton returns for his SR year when Hubbard steps foot on campus.
Totally agree with you! I don't like taking the ball out of the hands of the most dangerous offensive weapon on the team, and then have a running back or WR take a snap. It's almost as bad as TTUN putting Denard in at QB last year during The Game…the threat of a pass is now non-existent.
I think the cat we have back there is pretty wild.
Dontre could be interesting in the Wildcat, if he achieves what many early reports suggest he will. Otherwise, I agree, keep Brax back there.
I like Jalin Marshall running the wildcat.
As do I, talked to a buddy about this a couple weeks back. Never know when he is gonna chuck one, seeing that he was a HS QB.
I don't really see the need to do this. I don't know if he ever played QB in high school, but if he didn't then the staff would probably never even think of doing this.
We have the best running QB in the country, who can also throw the ball pretty decent. He could take a nap back there and the D would still have to account for him. Let's not overthink this.
Yeah, but there is a reason we gave Hyde some direct snaps last year. Its not a bad thing to save Brax from a few hits.
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
I could not disagree more. If it's a predetermined run for Hyde, have Braxton hand it to him. Having Braxton in the backfield is a threat -- a huge one. When you have NO QB (especially when that QB is Braxton), you're telling the D exactly what you're doing. It's a very bad move for this offense.
What i meant was let him grow into his body and work on mechanics then say when he's a sophomore or junior when we have JT at qb or even Stephen there, let all 6'6 of him step in on goal line or short yardage situations if he puts on weight. just a though
I got what you were saying and I understood you meant after Braxton. I like the idea because Barretts not a big qb even though he is mobile
Isnt barrett 6'2? Same as braxton...might not be as thick. But coach mick has time to change that. Plus, there is plenty of size in the backfield with smith, dunn and ball. Not to mention you will have cardale jones who is not small by any means and is mobile and can sling the rock. If hubbard plays offense, it will be as a TE. His size and speed combo will give safeties and lbs nightmares.
I like TE, DE, or STAR for him. Just my .02
Chris Carter. The true bulldozer.
Thanks for getting "Clubbed to Death" stuck in my head haha. Time to return the favor:
Sam "Old Mutha" Hubbard?
Sam "Dog Bone" Hubbard?
Sam "HubCap" Hubbard?
Cardale is 6'5", 245 and JT is 6'2", 230. Why waste a body when we already have monsters at the QB position?
I'm glad you brought up Cardale I just thought of it!
Just an idea but when Cardale graduates we'll have a 6'2 and 6'4 qb in Jt and Stephen
I could see Sam Hubbard at a lot of positions, but none are quarterback. I think he could be a star, OLB, DE or TE. Need to see more film and how his body develops over the next year or two.
I would love to see Hubbard at TE....
Bosa at QB would be insane....
"put some weight on him and teach him how to throw and if all fails put him at TE"
if it were that easy everybody would play QB and tebow would be the best in the NFL
