I am actually ashamed of of my earlier statement, and a bad feeling that we should worry about Ole Miss.
Their offense has looked mediocre, AT BEST. Their O-line is being blown apart more often than not, they look disorganized and undisciplined as whole, on offense. The way they closed the half was atrocious. The fake punt from your own 35, with 1:30 left, down by 11 is a bad call, regardless of the fact that it worked. After that, the clock management was as bad as it gets. They sold out to the short, 2 yard routes on the sidelines. While this is fine in a pinch, you've got to MOVE the ball a little faster with that little time. Then the dump off, over the middle to the RB, 8 yards short of the first down? That's just poor decision making by a QB.
The offense has had flashes of competency. but for the most part, this hurry-up, no huddle offense has been a dismal failure. The sad thing is, the offense actually looked good when compared to their defense.
I don't even know what to say about this defense. You thought the tackling was bad for the Buckeyes last year, you should watch these guys. (I'm not trying to trash the Buckeyes, I watched week in and week out, as my fiancee flew into an eyeball vein bursting rage in every single game at the lack of tackling) They look in horrible shape, they are not sticking to their assignments, no decent coverage on the edges, and they're being pushed around... by Vanderbilt.
If their defense doesn't make some major changes, Ole Miss is in SERIOUS trouble when they encounter a physical, run first team.
I got distracted while typing this and watched another half a quarter, haha. Their offense looked much better there, but still nothing special. Then Vandy gets the ball back, and there's more of those missed tackles.
Glad to see this is one less team I have to worry about.
p.s. these guys calling the game are some of the worst I've ever heard.
