And it happens every season...Week 1 NDSU 24 KSU 21 any given football day!
Minnesota is off the hook now!

That's a big upset, enough to give a head coach some gray hairs. Oh, wait..never mind.
Who called NDSU over KSU? Was that 9route? I remember seeing that someone called it.
Yes ol' uncle 9route
It was him. How the hell.. he never ceases to amaze me
Stewart Mandel called this game too. Who called it first?
9 Route called it in JULY - check the Upset thread, he posted the tweet a couple days ago
Hey I called it too! Or at least agreed with him if I'm remembering the post. I only say this and called that because I've seen them play multiple times as they're in the same conference as the college I attend (UNI-Northern Iowa) and they're pretty legit. With all that KSU lost, the fact that NDSU is a 2x defending national champ and returning like 18 starters from last year, I wouldn't quite call that an upset.
KSU was the defending Big12 champ on their home turf,oh and they were a couple points away from the National Championship game. Huge upset.
A wise man once said "success is not final and failure is not fatal"
Ehh, wouldn't call it a huge upset. Yes, KSU did well last year... but they returned only 8 starters, lost all their best players and all conference performers on D and their best overall player who made them the team they were in Klein. There's a reason why KSU wasn't ranked preseason.
My apologies you do seem to be more right then I was. After further inspection the spread was only like 12-14 pts. I was figuring it would have been closer to 30-40. Like the appy st spread was.
No worries man, it's still an upset nonetheless but if you really look into it, it's not as big of an upset as it may appear based on KSU losing almost all of their best players to graduation and returning little, and NDSU winning the last 2 national championships and returning like 18 starters from their team last season including all their best skill position players. They're a legit program, I could see them (if they can make it work financially) move up to MAC level or so. They've shown they can compete to some degree with FBS programs beating KU, Minny and now KSU in the last 3 seasons. Although I'd only consider the KSU a 'good' win, but still.. they're FCS, shouldn't be beating FBS teams.
I'm gonna let you finish, but App State had the greatest upset of all time. This was a big win for ND State, but it just shows that the teams at the top of the FCS can compete with teams in the FBS. App State was 2x FCS Champion as well.
*App State is bold in this post because, as an alum, nothing bugs me more than people saying Appy State. When I was in school, the sorority girls had a phrase, "Happy Appy," and it was literally one of the most annoying things I had ever heard. Drove me near insane at times, LOL.

YSU alum here, having seen NDSU play a few times, I think they could beat/compete with A LOT of FBS schools.
Also, the YSU-UNI game last season was awesome, I was there.
Yeah that was a good game. I rarely go to UNI games anymore as I devote my Sat. for tOSU and other good games, but I go to the games when they played highly ranked opponents. UNI just can't seem to get over the hump. Farley has good teams, but they choke in the playoffs. Oh well, they should be pretty decent this year. They lost their best WR for the year though already, but they should be consistently ranked in the top 25.
But back to the post above, NDSU and other FCS schools can compete with the FBS especially early on in the season. As we saw with NDSU tonight, James Madison who finished 6-5 a few years back and beat a ranked Va Tech, my favorite App St over tsun, or even a few years back when Iowa won the orange bowl and needed 2 blocked FGs at the end of the game to beat UNI 17-16... first time I've ever seen that btw. Never knew that if you kick a FG on 3rd down, it gets blocked yet never passes the line of scrimmage and you recover it, it's still your ball and can go ahead and kick again if you chose too.. anyways, that's how Iowa escaped. The same Iowa team that took our beloved Buckeyes into OT w/ a back up QB.
They are 7-3 against FBS schools. Not a flook.
Yea, yea, not a fluke either.
2x defending FCS champions knock off a BCS conference leader...where have I seen this before? I wonder if NDSU goes on to make it a 3peat like that other team did.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
Hmmm, BCS conference leader doesn't really tell the full story now does it? Now if KSU were ranked #5, returning three 4th year players in key positions who only returned to win a NC and lining up to seal the win with a chip shot field goal only to have it mercilessly taken away, then we might be able to draw some comparisons.
Yeah, Kansas State wasn't supposed to do anything this year, and no reports yet on whether or not they showed up high as a kite.
I was surprised when people picked KSU to lose...well done for them.

I think Mark May called Lou Holtz crazy when he made this pick, as well.
The only thing Mark May has been correct on is the Manziel conspiracy.
Anything can happen! Crazy stuff!
Karma for putting up a statue of your active head coach....trust me about this.
