You done fucked up Johnny....
"At one point, ESPN heard a broker ask Manziel if he would take additional cash to sign with special inscriptions, but Manziel declined, indicating he had done that before and it led to questions."
If he did take money in previous autograph sessions, he's done for it...once the NCAA comes to that conclusion.
His dad was right. Looks like the $h!+ just hit the fan sooner than expected.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Welp Archie's record is safe. I think. That whole SEC thing might get in the way, though.
Class of 2010.
I'm glad someone else is honest enough to admit this. I'm selfish in my thoughts that I don't want to see Archie recorded broken any time soon and not by Johnny Football. If this does result in a suspension, Archie record is indeed safe. Shame on me thinking like this... +1
While Ohio State's players hurdled the brick walls of Michigan Stadium in their throwback uniforms to celebrate with Buckeye fans, Michigan tailback Michael Shaw sobbed uncontrollably while walking off the field. - Grand Rapid Press (21-10 OSU)<
The image in my head earlier was of Archie hoisting a glass of champagne, ala the 1972 Dolphins, but, luckily for everyone, Archie has more class than myself.
So you're saying Johnny Football won't be able to profit off an autograph like this?
Even though Archie's autograph is probably worth some money, I witnessed him signing some memorabilia. This was three months ago, and he did it for free. Archie is a 100% classy man from what I can tell.
Ditto - I have a few Archie autographs in my collection, none of which cost me a dime (aside from the ones purchases in Alumni fundraiser auctions, of course, but Archie didn't make any money off of those, either). Ditto the Jim Tressel, Thad Matta and Jim Foster autographs (and E. Gordon Gee signature, because I'm a fanboy).
I feel the exact same way. Shame on me too I guess.

I don't wanna see it broken either unless it's a tOSU player.

That last part of this sentence is the key...I'd put it more like if as opposed to once. I'm not trying to tear your sentence apart btw. I hate the internet grammar police personally. It's more the fact that this is all involving $$$ and not just what Johnny football was paid. It's more how much revenue that him playing in games will make as opposed if he's suspended. I just don't see it being as cut and dry as most bc of this aforementioned info. It's all about $$$
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
It's like a tv show we tune into every week, and it's always a rerun we've already seen.
Your move, NCAA/SEC/TXAM.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
I think we're all fairly confident the dipstick took part in this. With that being said, it still boils down to the same thing - if no one cooperates with the NCAA, and there is no paper trail, the story is still just that and nothing will be done.
If I were Johnny right now, I'd be very careful how I responded in regards to this "broker." For now he says he won't cooperate. All it takes is a few missteps from himself/family/retained firm in what they say about this guy, to change his mind to cooperating.
It will be hard for NCAA not to connect the dots on this one and find some sort of money trail eventually. The problem is that these Brokers don't want to cooperate with any type of investigation. Sounds like Johnny Football may want to trademark the name Johnny No Football?
I like Johnny B. Gone.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Johnny No Goode?
We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, we're from O-HI-O!
It doesn't matter, Manziel will play.

We talkin' bout practice?! Not the game I love...the game I die for. Practice?!
Seems to fit, I'll go with it.

"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
Why is nobody blasting Kevin Sumlin? It's obviously the coaches fault when the players stray from the rules, especially since compliance is so understated in college athletics. Let's give this 15 minutes to marinate and then blame it on Urban.
"because we couldn't go for three"
These videos could be huge if this is all true. The problem here is still going to be proving that money was dealt, and if it was in cash, it's going to be hard to do that. As far as I am concerned, if these video's are real, he should be suspended for the year. This guy is a runaway train and someone needs to make him learn quick that he is not untouchable. It seems like this kid has grown up doing what he wanted whenever he wanted and at some point this has to catch up with him.

Hey now. That $180K went to the church. Non-issue!
Maybe one of the funnier gifs I've ever seen.
PFFFT. Everybody knows that TP was paid ZOMG LIEK FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLERS for autographs according to ESPN OTL.
Step up your level, Johnny F.
How do you prove this is there is absolutely no evidence that he took the money? Do you pull bank records?
If you spend it on bar tabs and such and never bank it there is no proof. I doubt NCAA is going to try to figure out how much he had coming in from legit sources vs what he spent.
I've said it before: Nick Saban is picking up all of Johnny Football's bar tabs! He was probably splitting them with Les Miles for a while, but Les has probably got a few bar tabs (and lawyer tabs, and dealer tabs) to cover on his own team. Summertime in the SEC is all about happy hour.
It is always happy hour somewhere.
"It's over, Johnny. It's ova!"
You gotta wonder if the kid ever planned on coming back at all after this summer's events....
Per the article:
The broker said he does not intend to cooperate with the ongoing NCAA investigation involving Manziel and autographs, originally reported Sunday by Outside the Lines.
The broker said he does not intend to cooperate with the ongoing NCAA investigation involving Manziel and autographs, originally reported Sunday by Outside the Lines.
This is going to be why he gets away with this crap...
“The teams that don’t respect their coaches and don’t trust their coaches are the teams that go .500"
Oh Johnny..... What have you done now.
I think there are way too many loopholes for this to actually cause problems for Johnny Football. The broker won't cooperate with the NCAA, no one else will likely step up as most people are seemingly supporting him even though there's a very real chance he broke NCAA rules, and you don't really have any sort of paper trail in cash transactions to prove that there was an exchange. Without subpoena power, there may not be a whole hell of a lot the NCAA can do here and that's a shame. These brokers will lose business if they're seen as a rat, so you can't expect any of them to actually help in this regard or turn Johnny in. I hope they do find something and punish him if this is all true, but I just don't think they'll uncover anything and he won't miss any time.
Yeah I don't get where this broker is coming from. 'I won't cooperate but here's video to show that the kid took $$'. I mean, hasn't this guy violated the holy code of dealers already?
Unky, you hit the nail on the head! OTL has done their job on reporting this, but it will end there for them. To begin with this is happening in TAM/SEC country, not in an area like Cbus. The real problem in Cbus is that the local press took all the national stories surrounding Tatgate and ran with them. OSU holds no sanctity in the Cbus market. The Ohio papers are too willing to go after the truth, even if it hurts the home town team (not that this is a bad thing). Heck, there were many accusations of improprieties that were just flat out libel, but the local press pushed on. Even in the most recent Hyde episode a local journalist viewed the video and had Carlos convicted of assault before the rest of us saw it.
I live in the Seattle area, and the schools out here seem immune to this kind of treatment from the local press. The whole Jeremy Stevens (from UW) thing (many incidents during his college and pro days) out here hardly made any news - if he were a Buckeye he would be deemed a thug and what ever coach he played for would be labeled an enabler. No such accusations ever popped up out here.
And, the Oregon Q, Thomas, with the pot smoking / rental car episode that died a silent death with no suspensions or consequences. I think we all know what would have happened in Cbus with the same set of circumstances.
I am not trying to paint Cbus in a holier than thou light. It's just the way things happen back there. Comes with the turf. It was that way back in Woody's days and it will continue into the future. Remember, Woody got in trouble for loaning a kid $50! Heck, while I was in school some of the All Americans would come back from their pre season gatherings with all kinds of stories about extra benefits for the AA's from the south and west coast. It was quite comical how strict we were at OSU while others seemed to get away with anything.
So I really expect these Johnny Asshat stories to just run their course and fade away. I will truly be surprised if the NCAA ends up with any sanctions against him. And, of course, we all know that TAM and/or the SEC will do nothing about it.
Remember those pics of Johnny holding all that cash? hmmmmmmmmm
I will bet that he doesn't miss a single game and nothing comes of this. Why...the SEC will pull out its magical cloak of invisibility and any evidence or witnesses will disappear.

"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Or digital trail but yeah, he skates. Won't get that second Heisman trophy though and naturally he will say it is because of the media.
There is a trail and if the NCAA has any common sense they will check to see if Manziel bought new rims after the alleged date of the autograph signings. If he did, manziel is in trouble!
That can easily be covered up by his parents saying they gave him the cash to do it. The 2 events could easily be related, but with no definitive proof that he got it from the broker, he can just use his parents as an escape.
Can anyone picture A&M trying to get in front of this and suspend Manziel for 2-3 games in lieu of a steeper penalty, or has that ship sailed? Just thinking out loud, but video is usually a pretty tough piece to counter, if not to a court of law, then to the general public.
I feel a Johnny 5 short circuit coming on...
Out Work, Out Think, Out Play!!!
I understand he wins tons of games for A&M and he won the heisman and everything, but do A&M fans actually like this guy? I mean he clearly hates being in college, he said as much on his twitter he hates college station, everyone knows as soon as he is eligible for the NFL he is gone, hes filthy rich and goes and does stuff like this for allegedly some new rims, so more or less he is just shitting on A&M and college football every chance he gets. All that said on Saturdays he is a fantastic football player, so because of that has all of A&M just said eh screw it hes good and we aren't Texas's bitch anymore so he can do whatever he wants and drag our name through the mud. I don't really understand I guess, when Pryor and co were caught I remember that majority of buckeyes saying, yea it sucks but they broke the rules so this is what happens, and believing they are not above the law because of how good they were. IDK, I just try to picture Braxton pulling all this crap(which he obviously would never do, off the field Brax is the anti Johnny) and seeing how everyone on here would look at it.
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Honestly, I think I would have liked him up until about now if I were an Aggie. Tough to say for sure though.
As an Aggie, this is exactly how I've felt. Until today, he'd just lived it up like any 20 year old with filthy rich parents and a Heisman under your belt would've. While I would've liked him to keep a lower profile, different strokes for different folks. Didn't bother me that much.
Now, he's everything people have said about him -- entitled, carries himself above the team, etc. Worst part is he got pocket change so he could put rims on his Mercedes SUV. Think about that for a second. HE NEEDED THE MONEY TO PUT RIMS ON HIS MERCEDES SUV!!!!!!!! BECAUSE THE STOCK RIMS WERE OBVIOUSLY NOT NICE ENOUGH FOR A REIGNING HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER, AND HIS DADDY WOULDN'T BUY IT FOR HIM. Unreal. Screw this guy. I hope Sumlin dismisses him from the team. I don't give a rat's ass if he wins us football games. It's not worth this dragging through the mud.
Texas A&M is all about doing things the right way (beat a dead horse and insert SEC joke here), and about being bigger than yourself. Johnny Manziel clearly doesn't get it -- in his world, there's no one bigger than "Johnny Football"
The prevailing sentiment on the College Football subreddit from A&M fans seems to be they're tired of his B.S. At least that's the vibe I'm getting.
Scotch: It may be too early to drink it, yes; but people it is never to early to think about it.
Dan Patrick noted today on his show the numerous times Manziel stated he HATED signing autographs in various articles and interviews.
I HATE doing errands but for $7500, I will do mine and my neighbors errands
Nobody built like you,
You designed yourself.
He said, He said. I am willing to bet that nothing comes of this, unless someone slips Manziel some truth serum and he confesses.
Call me lazy but I haven't read this entire thread. I did hear that Espn refused to pay the broker for a video. Is that true?
That was mentioned in the article, yes. How awesome would it be if Jim Delaney was on the phone with the BTN exec's right now urging them to pass the hat to take up a collection to get it's hands on this video tape so they could air the SEC's dirty laundry. Your move Mike Slive
If you read it you will be able to answer that question for yourself.............just sayin.
I said I "heard" not read. If you had read my entire post (including the lazy comment) you wouldn't have made your comment....just sayin.
No, same response. BTW, not my downvote. Have a nice afternoon.
Not my DV either. If I would have read it I wouldn't have asked the question. I thought I made it clear I was being lazy. I guess it doesn't pay to admit you are lazy, you still get the same responses telling you to read it for yourself.
Thank the good Lord for Braxton Miller and his shenanigan-less existence.

I agree. I guess college football these days you should appreciate the humble and quiet guys instead of expecting them. No one is to blame except us college football fans who follow high school kids' every word and ignore the character guys who lay low. It is all about the hype these days. It wouldn't be that way if fans like us weren't paying attention. Not criticizing anyone as I'm one of those guys. I'm thinking I need to find a new hobby between February and September. Swimming maybe?
Allegations didn't seem to hurt Miami much. Gotta have evidence.
If the broker is simply looking for cash for the video, someone will pay for it. ESPN is not the only entity with dough. Hell there are plenty of 'Bama boosters out there that would probably like to get it in their hands.
Hell, I'm sure TMZ would pay for it.
"Because the rules won't let you go for three." - Woody Hayes
THE Ohio State University
How many college athlete's have "personal assistants"? Does the guy "assist" for free? Is the NCAA ok with paying someone to be your "personal assistant"?
Another SEC QB who took cash. Where is the outrage? Instead people are making excuses. I guess there isn't a video of him getting a tattoo with the profits?
Manziel is not acting like a heisman trophy winner. He should be role model. He cannot keep hiding behind the fact that he is 20 and he just wants to have fun like a 20-year old. In fact, a lot of things he does may not fall under the "20-year old's fun" category. For this reason I hope that the NCAA takes an action on him.
But its the NCAA and SEC and so I wont get my hopes high on this.
I breathe Linux with a topping of Buckeyes...
He has been seen drinking alcohol several times. Baugh is out of practice due to this same offense but it seems like everyone is making excuses for this spoiled brat. No way he should not be punished. If you don't like the rules change them but don't give SEC QBs a pass. Do you think Braxton hasn't had the opportunity to make cash off his name in C-bus? No reason he shouldn't go out and make a quick 10 G and just have OSU hire a lawyer. His family may even need the money.
Oh how I miss the days when I had no idea what Heisman winners were doing off the field...right up until they faded into NFL obscurity.
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
Do you think if Collin Klein had won the Heisman last year you would have any idea what he was doing off the field? It's all about the person.
Well, if I look at a list of winners, I'd say for better or worse I knew what the last nine or so of them were doing off the field. The possible exception being Sam Bradford. Yes, there is a trend.
And in fact, I do recall hearing about Klein's personal life during the season and he didn't even win.
Why is anyone willing to pay $7,500 for his autograph?!
He signed hundreds of items...........allegedly.
I see a 2 game suspension coming. Oh wait, that`s LSU
Why should they need proof of money changing hands? If getting benefits from your own autograph is a violation (I don't think it should be, but it is), then why not deem it a violation whenever a student-athlete autographs more than one or two things for an individual fan. What legit reason would there be to spend an afternoon signing hundreds of items for one person, especially a known dealer? Make exceptions for charity projects (signed footballs for hospital kids, etc), but why would you sign lots of stuff for one person - unless you know you or friends or family will benefit from it eventually?
Nothing in the story leads us to believe all the autographs he did were for one person, that's another reason why he didn't want to designate a certain item with a certain message. Just like you said, they need proof of money changing hands so they know for sure it was for a profit. If they don't have proof of money changing hands, Johnny and family can easily claim it was for sick children, homeless people, fans, or whoever they shall choose to name.
Also, Braxton Miller has similar items selling on websites. Let's calm down with the suspension talk. hah
first thought was damn thats more than whats in my bank account
Say it isn't so Johnny! Oh well, too bad, now take your punishment!
Long live Archie's record!!!
Sorry if this was already mentioned, but I think the SEC will treat Texas A&M like upstarts in order to sorta "disown" them. The funny thing is that they didnt get pushed around in the vaunted SEC as predicted. And after kicking the bully's ass in the same year the bully raises the Crystal...well, you know how tarnished a bully might feel about that. I think it's hilarious that the national champs last year were slapped around by the new skinny kid with pop bottle glasses. Makes for good humor to throw at a few cocky Tide fans I know when they remind me we are still o'fer against the SEC.
As for Johnny...he is done...reminds me of that old mournful seventies tune: Johnny is gone I heard he's driftin out to sea...he always loved to swim away...maybe he'll find an island where he's safe and warm...then maybe again we'll pay his way...la la la la la la la ad infinitumnauseum.
People keep mouthing (I'm in Arkansas) about how the Bucks would be a mid tier SEC team, and I call bullshit every time I hear it...but THIS team? And these last two recruiting classes? I think the entire SEC notices the stirring in the state of Ohio.
And you want my honest opinion?
They are terrified.
You should ask the people that keep mouthing off about tOSU being a mid tier SEC team about where UL-Monroe would be considering they beat up on those horrid little Razorbacks...

Now I feel like a vegemite sandwich.
Rich white kid makes at least 7 Gs off his autograph. The rules are unfair!! Poor black player trades his own belongings for a tattoo. Suspend him for half a season!!
What does this have to do with race? Plz do not go there nor play the victim card either...
It absolutely has to do with race. Pryor sold his stuff and said that he did so to get money for his mother, and everyone says that he's a thug and should be suspended. Johnny Manziel's parents are rich with oil money, he sells his autographs to get rims for his Porsche, and everyone says that the rules are unfair.
Pryor was perceived as a thug. I know people who were friends with him, like actually interacted with him on a consistent basis, and they all said that he was actually a pretty funny, goofy kid. Johnny Football has had some negative press this offseason, but almost all of the pundits have been defending his behavior.
If Pryor had sold his stuff to get new rims, after getting photographed partying it up every weekend, nobody would be rushing to his defense. And if Manziel was from a poor family and sold his autograph to get money for his parents, people would be calling him a saint.
When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.
This is NOT about race. Pryor can say the money was for his mom all he likes. We will never know for sure. BUT, if the money was for his mom....how did she afford that 350Z which he claimed she bought for him?
I don't agree with the bad press Pryor received and I also think he is probably a pretty good human being, but we only see one side of this. It's very irresponsible to claim race is a factor when we don't even know the whole story.
Actually they should be able to sell their stuff, or sell their autograph. It is theirs. Unfortunately it's against the rules. It will be interesting to see what happens. I personally would like to see what old Johnny Football could do this season. It does seem like he is coming apart at the seams a bit. The bad thing about everyone telling you that you're great, is that you eventually start to believe them.
"I'm still hungry." --Brady Hoke
this is every A&M fans reaction right now
Hey, Johnny B. Gone, I'd like a bacon cheeseburger, a medium fry, and a medium Coke. Also, please ensure there isn't a pound of salt on my fries, I hate that. Thank you (:
So you want a Coke, a Fry and a Cheeseburger? I can do that for you or you can check this out. Thanks for bringing back good memories of KJ-52.
This guy first tried to sell these videos to eSpin then when they denied he let them view them, this guy is out for blackmail big time folks. He wants JFMs lawyers or reps to buy his rights to silence and uncooperation and Im sure he wants a pretty penny. Im sure he will get an under the table settlement and be bought off and JFM will play the whole season. Sorry its just the way things are done down south and in the mighty ole SECheat. Why else would this guy make it known he hasnt answered calls from the NCAA and at this time wont cooperate with any investigation. He just used eSpin to deliver a message loud and clear to Big John stud and Ta&m. Nothing to see here move along. Go Bucks!
A wise man once said "success is not final and failure is not fatal"
The guy is probably pissed that Johnny Asshat signed items for so many other memorabilia brokers. A flood of JA signatures on the market makes all the ones he paid for essentially worthless (or at least not worth what he paid). You could be right on with this theory. Blackmail is illegal in this country unless its done through lawyers.... just ask anyone who's been frivolously sued before.
"Johnny (Canadian League) Football"
It's kill or be killed.
I was reading a story about this on Yahoo's front page and the read the comments from other readers and one of then had the nerve to compare this to TP and the Tattos. hum excuse me but those are two total aminals. Johnny was paid cash for what he did and TP traded his on personal items how the hell is that the same as being paid cash for has Johnny boy said that will help me gets the sweet rims i wanted. While TP traded for tats and it was his own shit he earned. To me thats the same thing has if he would have set up a dam yard sale to get rid of things he no longer wanted or going to a swap meet. Since when is it a dam crime to trade or sell your own shit only with a bunch of greedy ass old men in the NCAA that felt cheated because they did not make any money off of TP's stuff when he traded it.
NCAA may not be his biggest problem. A&M does have a strict honor code, and many of the boosters are NOT happy about this. I would hate to be their AD right now...
LOL at this headline: http://espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp13/story/_/id/9544613/cam-newton-carolina-panthers-talked-johnny-manziel-limelight
Darren What's-His-Name from ESPN was on Bill King's show this morning and he basically said there's a LOT more that Manziel did that hasn't come out yet. Said there's overwhelming circumstantial evidence, but at this point, no audio or video of money changing hands. Sounded like they know how the money transactions were handled but there's no smoking gun. As much as I hate to say this, I don't think we've heard the end of this. I'd be willing to bet that his college football-playing days are over.
I don't like Cowherd, but caught him at the end of M&M - made a good point. This guy is almost 21, right? That's considered an "adult" in this country. You can serve your country, you get tried as an adult in the court of law, etc. Why is the default, "Oh, he's just a kid. He's going to make mistakes." No. Take some personal responsibility. He's an ADULT, not some 12 year old kid. If the reports are true on some of the video, he knew what was right and what was wrong. Hold him accountable and don't use the typical cop-out "he's just a kid."
I thing about this thread is that everyone is losing sight on the fact that JIM TRESSEL RIGGED A RAFFLE BEFORE I WAS EVEN BORN.
In all seriousness, if anyone even tries to claim he's too young to understand the severity of this, they're just as big of an idiot as Johnny is. His dad is rich AF, why does he even need this petty cash anyway? So stupid.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I don't know how long this video is but what if money was traded before or after it? Of course that cannot be proved so JF will get away with it. All the media outlets are acting like the only stuff that happened that day is in a 10 minute video...
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
A guy i work with told me a couple of hours ago, that Bustedcoverage.com has discovered that "hubs collectibles" has a wide arrangement of stuff signed by johnny, clowney, bridgewater, and braxton. Has anyone heard anything about this? nevermind this question, i see it was already posted, excuse me.
Was there ever a video of cash or tattoos being exchanged with Tatgate? Why are some saying this situation requires a higher level of proof?
