I know many of you are not fans of the 'what if games,' but recently the 2010 Iron Bowl came to my mind. How differently would things be today if Alabama was able to hold on to their lead and win? Just score another field goal? Stop Cam Newton once? Not allow a 24 point defect to be overcome?
My theory is that Alabama maintains the lead and wins. Plays SC in the SEC Championship and destroys them like Auburn did. But now they play Oregon in the NC. Oregon was a very, very, very good team that year. If not for having that freak of nature and Heisman winner Cam Newton, Oregon wins that one rather easily. We all know that Nick Saban struggles against spread/fast tempo offenses, as seen with allowing Auburn to come back that year as well as his 'player safety ideas' that he has. So Oregon runs over Alabama and stops the SEC reign of the current 7 straight NC.
How does Oregon winning the 2010 NC change CF today?
