Grantland had a pretty interesting article on momentum and it's perception in sports.
The whole thing basically argues the moments which typical sports fans would consider to give their team momentum. The really interesting thing to take from it was that teams scored more points, on average, after getting the ball inside their own 5 from a punt than they did by forcing a turnover and recovering the ball deep in their own territory, something we consider to be momentous. Granted, these stats are based on NFL teams, but it's most certainly interesting. I bring this up because it's generally understood that this years Buckeye footballers are trying to carry the momentum over from last season's 12-0 campaign.
Is momentum something that you would see as important throughout that course of a season/game/possession?
Do you believe that our Buckeyes are trying to use "momentum" to carry over to the 2013 squad and if so, how would it be applicable in your opinion?
