Did I miss the team captain results? Thought they voted earlier in the afternoon? I am blind. Please hold my hand.
Anybody hear about how the vote went and who our 2013 captains are?
Anyway...a thought about the strategic use of adrenaline. (I know, totally different topic) Downright genius thinking. Herman had to have had a hand in that!
Remember those emotional speeches last year by some of the leaders?
There is a huge amount of evidence that documents the astounding power of adrenaline (epinephrine) on a human body. Even on weaklings.
What is a major trigger for the release of this body-altering chemical?
"...an unexpected release of strong emotions"
Since adrenaline can turn a 98 pound weakling into a hulk, literally...allowing him to lift a 2500 pound vehicle off a friend with instantaneous "superman-like" strength, what would happen to muscles that have been molded and fine tuned by Mr. Marioti?
Infusing said muscles, theoretically, with a jolt of superman juice just before a game or a half...is brilliant!
But I have heard of a learned technique that can teach one to initiate this release, simply by thought. A memory, a desire, a focus on something that elicits emotion. And a player can conceivably perform self-timed releases of adrenaline during a game!
(ever think about something scary or sad...and get goose bumps? Now take a guess at what causes goose bumps. Yep.)
My thinking is that this incredibly intelligence staff already knows that, and is breaking in revolutionary thinking, melding sports medicine with psychology. It sounds wholly rational to me. But the success of this technique absolutely would require that players buy in. One nay-sayer, one complainer, one rebel against authority can destroy the chemistry of an entire team.
That's why leadership is so important.
I am so ready for some football. Hey, just wanted to see what selecting ALL the font choices would do. heheh.
Scuse me...I have to go and release some skull pressure, if you please.
