The football world lost one of it's all time greats earlier this evening in Art Donovan.
A Hall of Famer who spent 11 seasons in the NFL, most notably with the Baltimore Colts, Donovan was named to the 1950's All-Decade Team at defensive tackle.
Though he played before my time, he was a great ambassador for the game after he retired....the man had a flair for stories, often about events off the field with some of the great Colt teams of the late 50's. He was great to watch when he was on some of the old NFL film segments. His autobiography, Fatso, was published in 1987 and is a great look at player culture in the NFL as it rose in popularity.
He was inducted into Canton in 1968, and his #70 is retired by the Colts. He was 88.
