If it worked for Cam it should work for Johnny
Better Call Saul ...
Haha best post today!
They don't need a criminal lawyer, they need a criminal, lawyer.
Plus one, just seen that for the first time on BB the other day.

Why doesn't the SEC just keep the firm on retainer?
Let me guess. The lawyer will advise Johnny to say his Dad personal assistant brokered the deal and he knew nothing about it.
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
All proceeds went to the Little Sisters of the Poor
Too funny, but maybe not a bad idea to a certain extent. What if the NCAA would allow players to "cash in" on their respective likenesses or fame with no immediate benefit to the individual. By this I am thinking of some type of deferred investment that would be in the name of the player, however he/ she could not touch it for say 5 years or so. Additionally what if 25% of the proceeds must go to the players charity of choice, there might be some buy in by the NCAA. Maybe just fruitful thinking!

I think this is a fantastic idea! I'd be willing to push it even further and say 50% goes to the player's charity of choice, but that might be going a bit too far.
Pretty sure the NCAA has closed up that loophole since then..
That excuse won't work.
i think you meant "wont work outside the SEC"
It was meant tongue-in-cheek.
Theres an interesting read on Dispatch.com, or if you get the Dispatch turn to the sports section, about Manziel and his fame. I dont get how people are sympathizing with him. He keeps putting himself in situations where judgment and ridicule can happen. If he doesnt enjoy the negative publicity, then stay out of the public eye.
ala our quarterback, Braxton Miller!! All he does is go to football camps, and wins. My kind of QB, let your play do the talking for you, instead of your actions and or poor judgements.
Agreed. I like how Braxton carries himself. Word is he is very low-key and that appears to be a genuine description of him. Some of these college stars should learn from NFL players. Being the flashy, attention seeking (or drawing) news-hog doesn't get you respect, even at the professional level. Handle your business like a professional (i.e. both Mannings, Brees, Brady, Peterson, etc.). I dont think being known as a 'badass partyer' really gets that much respect either at the college or professional level.
I really don't think this lawyer up situation is going to go anywhere. Good luck with this...it's ESPN, NCAA and tSEC. Too much $$$ involved. Just look at why Cam played in 2010...??? It's bc $$$ and if Auburn lost, they wouldn't have made as much $$$ bottom line. The Ole Mighty Dollar goes much farther than anyone knows when it comes to "what's right." What's right isn't what these ppl are interested in...
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
Honestly though, what do you expect them to do? Not lawyer up? Their star QB who made them millions of dollars last year is faced with the possibility of being ineligible. Lawyering up is a move you make.
I've already said I think Manziel should be dismissed from the team if this stuff is true. The point I can't get over though is the motive -- his family is insanely wealthy from Texas oil. From the day he was born, he never had to work a day in his life. The kid drives a Mercedes SUV. His parents pay for tickets for him to live the high life (off the top of my head, he vacationed in Cabo, went to San Diego, and went to Canada for a Drake concert this offseason). There is no reason he should be accepting money for something like this. It doesn't add up. He clearly doesn't need it.
That being said, if he did, he's the biggest moron in the world. If he did, he needs to be removed from the team.
I see your point, but it's also hard to buy weed with your dad's credit card.
My point was, they're going to win either way my man. I realize Johnny and his parents have $$$. I just don't think he's going to get an ounce of punishment, lawyering-up or not. I can see him playing game one and on. TX A&M, tSEC and NCAA know Johnny will be a HUGE $$ maker this year (just like with Cam, the last Heiman winner;-) A lil history repeating folks...and imagine that, it involves an SEC team.
Fan of bacon since 1981
I cannot comprehend being a Manziel, Texas A&M and/or an SEC fan.
It must be akin to some strange fantasyland full of materialistic worth such as trophies, monies, brooms and rugs.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
I see Johnny,in a drunken stupor, attempting to steal back memorabilia sometime in his late 40's. The story doesn't end well, but it will finally end. All things do.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I can't believe that Manziel's dad was out there wringing his hands about his son's actions. He raised this "kid"and enabled him to act the way he has. Maybe dad should have taken away his access to money until he learned humility and responsibility. My guess this is not the first time Manziel has acted this way. His dad was right about one thing though, when he crashes it's going to be bad.
I see this in Manziels future...
