I hope I am not stepping on toes here by paraphrasing something from 247 boards. A parent of an OSU senior on the football team had expressed their thoughts to the author of said post. I was impressed by its content and wanted to pass a summary along to anyone that cared. The parent said if you thought the team was strong last year just wait till this year. The new players speed is amazing. The most emphatic point was that Meyer recruits only strong kids mentally. That they not only continually push them hard physically but also mentally. Competition is paramount and is instilled in them all the time. And it is stressed on the recruiting front. He said he can see a kid who is not super competitive being tentative at what they hear from Meyer. He said the kids can see this while being recruited and he felt kids go elsewhere because of it. He mentioned a certain school that isn't so much that way that they may otherwise choose but I will not say who to save paragraphs of rebuttal to this post. So, basically saying that these players are being formed into hard nosed, tough minded players that aren't coddled in any way and only the strongest survive. It isn't for everybody but the ones that choose it are a bunch of very strong, tough kids. And it is visible to those that have watched the progression of the players and the incoming speed is evident as well. This is what I envisioned upon getting Urban here as coach and it is coming to fruition...cannot wait. Thanks to this parent forwarding this info and the author of the post on 247.
