PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Is it realistic to expect 41-0 at that point?
Why or why not?
I will preface this by saying I don't mean to sound snarky or rude but am severely superstitious. That being said, no because it's 33 days until we even have the chance at 13-0.
On a less superstitious note, I like to believe going 10000000 - 0 is possible (and with this recruitment, who knows?), but the fact of the matter is that one of these days something will happen. The ball will bounce wrong, bad ejection call, unmotivated, whatever it may be. Let's just enjoy the ride while we can!

I say let's worry about getting to 13-0 first!! One game at a time young butterfly. And if we reach 26-0, I don't see 41-0 because Braxton will leave...
Yeah, but we've had some good play makers at QB the last 9 years or so. It should continue as long as we don't give schollies to anyone named TOdd Boeckman or Joe Bauserman.
Pokud si můžete přečíst to pak budete mít zlatou hvězdu na den!
Todd Boeckman took us to a national championship!! Dont you dare hate on Todd
Boeckman lost me when he made the comment about seeing multiple players when defenses brought pressure just before we played LSU.
That was about the dumbest thing a QB could've possibly said entering a title game.
Or it was the other 21 guys on the team, the weak schedule, the 5 or so teams in front of us that lost the last couple weeks, and the crooked media voters.
Nope. Just Todd
Braxton is a once in a quarter of a century talent. Remember, Urban has said he has never seen anything like him.
Let's see what it looks like after this season. Don't forget there will be a lot of talented players leaving this year (namely shazier, and roby, and possibly brax if the cards fall correctly for him). Anything short of an undefeated regular season and a NT bid is going to be a letdown this year.
I don't always downvote, but I do always downvote a Michigan fan trolling the Buckeye boards.
I love the optimism, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's hard enough to go undefeated in one season, let alone multiple seasons. Last year OSU had quite a few close calls and games they could've lost, but didn't. I'm of the opinion that we need to take it one game at a time and not get too carried away.
The only game that matters is the next one. Thinking about going 41-0 leads to overlooking teams.
I wasn't born a Buckeye but I became one as fast as I could.
Talking about this now is like talking about a no-hitter in the second inning. Just worry about 14-0.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Believe me, as a fan, I'm not looking past anything...
I'm saying if everything goes right this year, and the Bucks win it all...
Wouldn't another undefeated season be a realistic goal based on the talent we have and the schedule we play?
As big of a buckeye homer as I am, I don't think it's ever "realistic" to "expect" 41 straight wins in college football. Could it happen? Sure. But we should acknowledge that is very optimistic/bordering on wishful thinking, and not set the bar so high for our team that we're all disappointed if they don't achieve such lofty goals.
There's a fine line between being a fan base that expects a lot from their team, and being a spoiled fan base that is unrealistic. Not saying the OP is being that, but threads like this one are the first steps down that road.
All that being said, I hope I'm wrong and we keep winning forever! haha :)
No I wouldn't say it's unrealistic, it would be an amazing run if we could take over and erase the nasty taste from our collective palettes of the SEC dominance, but we've played spoiler and been the spoilee in those situations.
Our longest win streak ever was 22 games and it was spoiled by Michigan in '69.
Texas had a 21 game win streak we put a stop to in 2006.
Miami had a 34 game win streak we ended in the title game in 2002.
Even Urban had a streak going a Florida that ran up to 22 games that was ended in 2009 by, you guessed it - Alabama.
The last team to boast a 40+ (47) game win streak were the Sooners in the 50s that was halted by the Irish.
I would love to run the table twice and blast an SEC team both championships just to make the sports world choke on it.
But the mantra is right on this one - one game at a time, playing angry, with relentless effort.
Thanks for the legwork on some of the stats GT...history is not on our side in regards to knocking out three straight undefeated seasons.
I let myself have NC dreams just like any of you, but really try to take it week to week, and it's not easy.

Not just 41-0...410-0. Perhaps even 4,100-0. Yeah, I said it! What about it!?
No seriously, though, I highly doubt anybody in this day of college football is going to win 41 straight games. If any coach could do it, it would be Urban, but feel free to ask me again if we get to 26-0.
Class of 2010.
Love the hypothetical types of questions, but let's take one game at a time. Starting in 33 days.
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
If Ohio State gets to 26-0 I will be on campus flipping cars.... I don't even want to know what kind of trouble I would get into if they can win 41!
Coming soon to your favorite dry goods store...
Realistic? What's the point of that?
Lets go 1-0 in 2013 first
I agree not to think too far ahead but I am excited if they go undefeated this year because starting next year they will take a 26 game winning streak into another simple OOC schedule. That means if they win it all this year undefeated, they could easily go to 30. 30 straight wins will put the team in the top ten of all-time winning streaks.
going for 41 would be unreal but I really would like to see 30 in a row.
At the very least, I can see 20 straight being a real possibility. I think that would before OSU meets NU , purdue, PSU and UM. Not many programs can say that, 20 in a row!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
I would like to see Braxton consistently hit a crossing route before making any kind of prediction like that. I am expecting wholesale improvement with this team but until I see it with my own eyes then I am going to temper my expectations.
41-0 is a lock
can we get past Buffalo without a problem first? I have a reliable family source(also known as a nephew who is an Assistant Football Coach at a MAC school) who thinks that DE Colby Way and LB Khalil Mack are NFL quality players. Let's win and come out unscathed.
I can't even bring myself to say the M word
The staff and the players are the only ones that need to focus on getting to 13-0 first. As fans, we can discuss 41-0 all we freaking want. But as I said above, it's highly, highly unlikely in this day and age of college football that a team will win 41 straight.
Thank You Showthem...
I asked a hypothetical question based on if we were 26-0 (through 2 years)...
would all of us fans have expectations of doing it again?
not sure why people are viewing this as a negative question...
statistically speaking, the probability of going undefeated for the third season in a row given the first two seasons were undefeated is the same as going undefeated in a single season. We have done that 6 times out of 120+ years, so that's about a 5% chance of happening based on prior data. Of course I'm assuming the probability of winning each game is independent from another...
I'm more concerned about getting the win at Cal first.
