PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
If I understand the situation correctly he was a counselor at the camp. That is really the only problem I have with the situation. By participating in the camp as a counselor/coach he does accept the responsibility of setting a positive example. Obviously he failed to do that. Even so, it is not as big a deal as people are making it out to be.
Beyond that, I don't really have a problem with what he does. It just seems like he is a young guy out enjoying his situation.
I think its a really big deal. Win the Heisman as a Freshman and then your being booted out of the prestigious Manning QB camp because your hungover and btw, not 21 yet. Not every college kid needs to be as psychotic and disciplined as Peyton Manning was/is in his personal life but Johnny football has been in the headlines way to much and this last one was a big deal. Another Hesiman caliber season though this year and it will all be forgotten...

I don't care what his season is like, he has all but taken his name off the list by his off field actions. Sure, it is based on what you do playing, but you cannot deny they look at the character of the person they give it to also.
Actually I can deny that. They gave Cam Newton the Heisman.
Difference is that that was little while before, and Cam hadn't won the award yet. I think that some Heisman voters who feel strongly about the moral aspect of it will feel that Johnny doesn't take it seriously. Had Cam won the award then stolen the laptops I think it would have been a very uphill battle for himself.
There was a lot of talk and coverage dedicated to Newton's past in the weeks leading up to the Heisman ceremony. At one point there was even talk that Newton might be declared inelligible.
He actually was declared ineligible for less than a week I believe before being cleared
Bet you can't say "Bert Bielma is a bumbling buffoon" five times fast.
I believe it was for one day. He was declared ineligible on November 30th and was reinstated on December 1st.
Look chonnie..if he were Amish, we have all been there...you don't just "over sleep" at an event like that..the only person you are fooling is yourself here, if looking like a jackass is what you prefer, then continue down the path that you are on..
He overslept. But he had a roommate (McCarron), who you would think would wake him up. Me thinks he wasn't even in his room, which is why the cell phone died, I'm sure.
He's 20 blah blah blah. But he's also a Heisman Trophy winner. Dude's a punk.
McCarron did try to wake him up, and FAILED! HMM...wonder why Manziel was so unwakable (yes I made that word up). On the other hand, hasn't McCarron ever heard of a little something called cold water? Note that it wasn't NECESSARILY the morning that he got sent home left mutually.
Class of 2010.
The way I heard that on the radio was that in previous days, McCarron woke him up. I thought it was unclear whether he did that day. It was almost alluded to that he wasn't there.
You could easily be right. Dunno.
I have a solution to minimize any tardiness should Johnny oversleep this year's Heisman ceremony.....
(I have never been in that position....at least not from this guy's vantage point)

Archie obviously knew for a fact that he was patrying and hungover otherwise I highly doubt he would have just booted him. The kid isnt 21 and although I and most of you all drank before 21, it wasnt public knowledge and ignored...
It can happen to anyone in college, sure. BUT, Johnny was at a football camp, a QB camp, that he was invited to by one of the most legendary QB families in the history of football in the Mannings. It would be one thing if he were to miss a class one time because of it, but to basically piss on this particular event, on top of being a Heisman trophy winner and acting like this...not good.
If I were him I would have avoided the SEC media days like a champ. Oh wait...I forgot, he likes the limelight (Despite hearing Sumlin told him to go). Or otherwise we'd be hearing about him in the video room watching his own film from last year in order to get better. As opposed to lying explaining why he decided to get drunk dehydrated after socializing the night before and subsequently getting kicked out of left the QB camp for young kids. That way he could leave to go home to recuperate from his "dehydration."
BTW, I'm all for drinking, but I do and always have done things with responsibility. This situation doesn't elude any of that IMO. He should have gotten drunk that night after the Manning Camp...considering I'm sure Archie was going to use him as an example of what these young QBs or athletes in general could look up to. This was a BAD PR situation for him and it's time for EVERYONE to stop making excuses for him. It's getting pathetic.
"I want a hungry team. I want a team that can't wait to get out there. I want an angry team! You're the Ohio State Buckeyes. You're an angry football team. You're a hungry football team and I'm proud to be your coach." UFM
Honestly, who cares. Yeah he won the Heisman, yeah he probably shouldn't be drinking. But put yourself in his shoes, you just won the Heisman at 19 years old and was thrown into a spotlight that he never thought would have been possible 8 months earlier. Look at it this way.. sure he tends to say stupid things like "Aaron Craft who?" and other stupid tweets I disagree with, and "may" have been hungover a little at a passing camp (BFD) .. but he's just like any competitive cocky jock guy in the locker room with a much more intense spotlight on him. NCAAF players get rowdy just like everyone else on campus. Plus, look at the bright side ... at least he isn't getting into fights with bouncers and losing his temper at night clubs ending up in people getting shot or put in jail, he just a kid who likes to get rowdy at the bar and take poor framed pictures of him with cute girls and a fifth of whiskey, and I like many of you can relate to that. He's a kid, and he thinks he's the shit.. and he should.. he just won the biggest accolade an individual can have in NCAAF. Let him learn his own way. It's like the media needs something to talk about. Let Johnny put his money where his mouth is.. and if he blows next year his big mouth will serve him justice.. but if he balls out then so be it.
I oversleep a lot when I'm hungover too....but if I was waking up to go spend a day with Peyton and Eli you better believe I would be there on time!
Manziel sucks off the field.
