At work, I sit in a four cube area in the corner cube. The other three? Florida fan, Alabama fan, West Virginia/Louisville fan.
The next cube set over? LSU fan, Florida fan, Florida fan, Georgia fan.
My boss? USC fan. His admin? TSUN fan.
The people on my project? Alabama, Tennessee, another Florida, and a non-college football fan.
I just heard thirty minutes of straight SEC hoopla. Everytime I speak up? This is what I hear: "You can't cakewalk your way to a championship" or "Braxton Miller cant win the Heisman when he's playing high school teams".
If I show any excitement about Ohio State, I'm given the same sort of patronizing look adults give kids when the kids talk about superheroes or spaceships. The "oh how cute, but we're busy with real life here" look.
There are days I go home and actually wish for a new Civil War. Don't get me wrong, I like many parts of the South and many people from the South. It's just that it has been so long since anybody has put the SEC in its place in a championship game that I am left rooting for actual war just to stop the chest beating.
We simply have to win. We can't make it there, then lose- I'd have to take a week off. we have to win. Please, if you would be so kind, list the reasons you think we have a shot. It will go a long way towards improving my day. Thanks.
