PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Can't believe the garbage that came out of this clown's mouth.
He did show a certain level of ignorance when talking about how OSU barely got by Indiana and Purdue last year. Last year was last year. What does that have to do with this year?
My favorite part was how he considers tOSU to be on the level of Miss St and Ole Miss. WHAT!????
I compare his journalism level to Alfred E Neuman
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
I stopped listening when that one guy said rich rod and defense in the same sentence.
Yea he actually said RichRod, defense, and better....in the same sentence. You can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other and see which one fills up first.
Who is Pete Fiutak?
Pat Forde's alt account.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
exactly.........I can go on and talk football too. Doesn't mean I know crap about the subject either.....
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
He's a columnist at College Football News. I used to read him until about 2006-2007 when he became an SEC cheerleader just like every other college football writer.
Before then he was one of the few college football writers who held the Big Ten in high esteem. Us shitting the bed in 2006 & 2007 led to his SEC conversion.
As much as I hate Forde I actually agree that the NW game could be tough. It's on the road and at night. Some of OSU best teams and seasons had tough road games against NW. The Natl Champ season comes to mind as well as Pryor's sophomore season the year they beat Oregon
Huh? Ohio State didn't play against Northwestern Pryor's sophomore year.
Sorry I thought there was a tough game against them and Pryor scored a late TD. My bad
Does anyone know why the schedule on the OSU football website has 5 missing seasons from early to mid 2000s?
01-02 to 05-06 are all missing on the dropdown menu
so are 96-97 to 99-00
Bet you can't say "Bert Bielma is a bumbling buffoon" five times fast.
@4:30 is when to tune it in, bros
The smartest guy there was Doug (black Doug), and Kevin (white Kevin - from his kitchen).
Fiutak is on some dope, he's usually fair but he is just trying to stir a pot.
And, yes, you're right -- he's never put on a jock in his life.
I'm just happy to be here
Appreciate the heads up 9er....was hoping not to have to sit through all that mess.
Pete's here all week ladies and gents, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Buckeye- just go to the main ohio state website. Ohiostatebuckeyes.com
Someone from M*chigan must have hacked the site. lol
Can't wait till the season actually starts and we make all the idiotic fans and "analysts" look even more stupid.
Right. It's all talk & conjecture. People need to make people watch their channel/show so they say things. Once season starts, we'll find out who's right & who's an ignorant loudmouth that knows nothing more than how to make audible sounds in front of a TV camera.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
It won't stop, they could blow everyone out by 40 and there will be all kind of articles about how we don't know how good they really are because their schedule was garbage. Unfortunately, they'll be right about the schedule part.
It's hilarious the assertion he makes - I mean mighty Florida? The same Florida that got taken to the woodshed by Big East powerhouse Louisville? The same Louisville team that squeaked by North Carolina and Cincy (OT) and got blown out by Syracuse and lost to UConn in OT?
Or the ol' Ball coach at uSC who got smoked by that same Florida team but needed a miracle last minute play to beat Michigan who couldn't cross the 50 against our D in the second half?
Georgia? Who could only muster 7 points against that same South Carolina team that Michigan had on the ropes? That same team who could only score 17 points on the Gators who got whacked by a Big East team?
I mean I could go on, but I think our team will handle the statements on the field.
You are right. They have to handle it on the field and better than they have in the past 2 decades against SEC teams. I find it hard to understand all the "hate" in this and other Buckeye fan sites who bitterly complain about "talking heads" when they snicker at the Buckeyes being at the level of the top half of the SEC. When you look at the Buckeyes record in Bowl Games vs. SEC teams, not made much better by our hang on by our fingernails victory vs. Arkansas in what now seems a lifetime ago (now expunged) it is no wonder why we get the jeers from guys like Fiutak and Mark May. Or course, we'd be foolish to overlook the ratings they get from stirring up the Buckeye pot by the size of our fanbase, but when you hang by your shorts to beat Purdue, Indiana, don't expect a lot of love from the media. And lastly, it doesn't matter that Florida had to hang on to beat the likes of Towson, Bowling Green and others. By virtue of their being in the SEC and beating OSU twice in the past decade, they win the battle of street cred vs. Ohio State whether we agree or not.
The hate is because they've only played a handful of games so it's hardly a large enough sample. So they lost a couple of games to Florida and a game against LSU. Big deal. By that same rationale, Minnesota, OK St, and Utah are better than Bama. I also don't recall Nebraska fans chanting 62-24 to Florida fans.
opinions are like assholes
petes are like dicks
I keep waiting to see this chap walk smack into a wall.
I was thinking hit by a truck
Just looking at the guys face makes me want to punch him and then he has to go and talk so stupidly out of it. Trying to be all anti-violence but damn, talk about a dilemma.
I know it is not popular to defend guys on here but I will make two historical points about fiutak:
He was one of only a few guys who picked us to win the BCS championship in 2002. (Joel Buchsbaum was the other that I remember)
He was the ONLY guy who said that OSU belonged in the 2007 bcs championship and that LSU was lucky to be there. Even after the game.
He gets paid to give his opinions and write columns about college football, and however good or bad that he is, most of us can't say the same thing so he must be doing something right.
just another psycho, irrational, delusional Ohio St fan
so whats his excuse now?
Stopped after the headline-no they don't. The Bucks are going to cut NU to pieces in front of a nationally televised audience. Their story is great. It's fun to watch a guy build a program brick by brick and that's what Fitz is doing. A lot of people like to jump on the 'darkhorse' to say they were the first to say it but they are no where to be found when said horse heads to the glue factory. For all of this talk about how dynamic their offense is-and it is-Ohio State is going to do terrible, awful things to NU's defense.
I've been clear on my stance and will remain supremely confident. Ohio State is going to hang Northwestern's entrails from the goalposts in October. 42-17.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Point was later he says that tOSU doesn't belong on the same field as Bama, TAM, Florida, Georgia, SC, and LSU. Says they might not even be better than Ole Miss and Miss St. Says they would be 7-5 or 8-4 in SEC. He's crazy.
Georgia barely beat the Nebraska team that we hung 60 on and who gave up 70 to Wisconsin. SC needed a hail mary to beat a mediocre Michigan team (that we beat). Florida got embarrassed by Louisville while LSU lost to Clemson. So for him to make that statement is absurd!
I will add that people making these critiques of Ohio State know nothing of perspective. Reminds me of when I was playing summer league basketball. I invited a friend to play one year. We were watching a game and he commented how everyone sucked as they struggled for points, rebounds, etc. I warned him not to be deceived. When we played, both teams collectively "sucked" as it was a dog fight for everything. tOSU might look like a shitty team to the SEC homers but I guarantee it would be a dog fight if they were on the field together (just ask Oregon).
Great perspective Jax. Agreed 100%. Obviously Ohio State struggled with UAB, but if that meant Ohio State wasn't that much better than UAB then they wouldn't of beat Michigan, Nebraska, Michigan State etc. On a game by game basis, this years Ohio State team can hang with anybody in the country, even if lets say they only beat Cal by a TD again.
I've spent time in the South, I don't care what anybody says they don't have the passion for football that us Ohioans have.
To say that one of the biggest/best programs in cfb is on the same level as teams that are at best 3rd tier is simply idiotic. It's also an insult.
He sounds like most SEC fans.
Well when your headline is that stupid, your article doesn't warrant even a cursory reading. After your recap, I'm glad I didn't waste my time reading the rest of the inane drivel Mr. Fiutak spilled on the internet.
Fiutak has fallen in to a common trap of overvaluing the SEC. Clearly, the SEC has shown itself to be the premier conference of the BCS era through its dominance of the BCSCG, but the awesomeness of each team, each year, does not follow. Florida and LSU were regarded as two of the conference's best teams last year, yet each fell in its bowl game to a lower ranked opponent, but others in this thread have already pointed this out.
Fiutak predicted, rather glibly, that OSU would finish 7-5,8-4 in the SEC. Of course, the muddle-headedness in this prediction reveals itself immediately through the fact that no one in the SEC plays 12 conference games, but nevertheless I decided to check how the Buckeyes might fare with an SEC schedule. I picked Mizzou's schedule because they are one of the new guys and one of the weakest teams in the conference. To choose Alabama, for example, eliminates the possibility of playing Alabama. So, here it goes:
Murray State (W)
@ Indiana (W)
Arkansas St. (W)
@ Vandy (W)
@ UGA (L) toughest game on the schedule
@ UK (W)
@ Ole Miss (W)
TAMU (W) tough, but I give the home team the advantage
11-1 seems a reasonable bet with a tough game in the SECCG still to play. 10-2 is likely the worst we'd finish. Clearly, UF and USCe would be tough home games, but I see nothing in the performance of either squad that would make me concede two losses.
lol I just sat in disbelief in what i just heard. Especially that one tweet that showed at the bottom. Ignorance at it's finest. That's ok, Buckeye Nation feeds off of the hate.
Let's face it, until we beat an SEC school in a meaningful game, we will have to put up with this stuff. No point in complaining about it. This is the "tax" we have to pay for the Florida and LSU debacles, not to mention the super-hyped back-to-back losses to Southern Cal on national TV. We have to focus on running the table and then, maybe, we'll get a shot. I say maybe because if the three teams mentioned here all go undefeated, you have to figure the Buckeyes are odd man out, unless the allure of an Urban v. Saban match-up trumps strength of schedule.
The 2011 Sugar Bowl was considered pretty meaningful up until Ohio State actually won the game.
Why aren't Oregon and Oklahoma also paying this "tax"?
Because they don't start with an "O." Oops.
Oklahoma gets a pass because they lose to every good team come bowl season. XD
Oregon gets a pass because every fears Nike's wrath.
This. Not a whole lot else that needs to be said. Doesn't matter if we agree or disagree.
This is the popular sentiment no matter how many "facts"we present or how loud we yell bull-shit.
I didn't listen. I figured it was some nobody trying to save his career. He had to kiss the sec ass. And only had to piss off one team. I understand that it is his job to get publicity. What better way of doing it? He is a joke from what I have read in the thread. We know the truth. Our buckeyes could play any sec team very closely. IMHO.
Bury me in my away jersey, with my buckeye blanket. A diehard who died young. Rip dad.
I think our team last year had some holes. I also think that TOSU would have given Bama a much better game than ND.. Other than Bama I really think the bucks would be a top tier team in the SEC.. I also think that the staff recruited very well last year.. This team will have speed and a nasty Dline... Oh yeah, and a heisman caliber QB.. Did I forget about the Oline with four returning starters... Urban will have his angry team if the bucks run the table... They will hear from everyone about how they have no chance... Is it football season yet?
Speaking about this upcoming season, I think only one team in the SEC would be favored over Ohio State in a neutral stadium. Obviously that is Alabama. They will also be the only team from the SEC ranked higher than Ohio State once the season starts. LSU / Florida all defense, no offense. South Carolina an above average team that is it. They just happen to have the best DE in the game. Texas A&M is very good but their defense is questionable at best. And UGA replaces 8 on an average defense.
So glad I bought tickets to this game!!!!
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
This is actually very surprising to me. Fiu has had our back for YEARS. And by years, I mean, he has seriously propped Ohio State up when no one else ever would. His analyses of Ohio State over the last 4 years of Tressel's tenure reaked far more of exasperation as to why they underachieved, rather than they actually suck. So, I'm taken aback as to why he's now joining ESPN's narrative. He knows Indiana is the best it has been since the 1980s, and he knows that Purdue simply matches up. So, the reason he's trolling is beyond me.
Shame on you, Fiu. Now is the time to have bought your Buckeye stock. You sold too low.
Maybe he changed his iconic opinion of the Buckeyes, and just forgot to let everyone know!
Your comment is further proof that Producers of these shows are trolling the OSU fanbase for clicks because its popular and obviously gets a reaction..I didn't know that about "Fiu?" ...but if you say he used to have Ohio States back and now comes off like every other contrarian (Mark May, Pat Forde, etc..etc.) He is being paid to have an opinion and I am certain it wasn't his idea to take that stance.
