It's just silly. I suppose I did a lot of stuff like this as I neared the end of my last school year.
I am done with him now. Never really have a hate for him like former Wolves(Desmond Howard,Mike hart) I hope he does well at the next level.
The attention and hype surrounding this guy far outweighed his accomplishments at UM. Hopefully Gardner doesn't continue the September Heisman tradition.
i would think, as a buckeye fan, you would want gardner to continue the september heisman tradition, no? that would mean september heisman would fade down the stretch, and succomb to injury/poor decisions/lack of defense to lose lots of games.
I would prefer it to be the August Heisman moving forward....i.e., it has been shoved down my throat the last few years that Denard was an other-wordly playmaker that would terrorize us. Playing Bama early last year stopped that campaign quickly.
it certainly did. he had 2 highlights in that game (according to michigan fans): first, his TD pass to a wide open devin gardner, who turned the wrong way and almost missed the ball. second, he did have a really nice 50+ yard pass to jeremy gallon where he outran double coverage only to catch the ball in stride and proceed to get tackled 1 foot later. if osu fans eyes, he had many more highlights: dropped interception from safety tino sinseri, dee milliner throwing roundtree out of bounds for an easy pick, then denard injuring himself with a horrible tackle, a LB pick-6 (can't remember to whom). lots and lots more. sigh
I didn't care for his antics and he kinda sucked but at least he brought something back to the rivalry, put his team on his back, did his best to revive the program and had a smoke the whole time.
I am done picking on this kid, let him be.
All week long, Meyer preached to his team that he wouldn't pity Buffalo (4--8 in 2012). "I didn't schedule this game," he insisted. "I'm not going to feel bad for them."
No matter how you slice it, a kid who a lot of people were bashing because of his speech impediment just got his four year college degree from Michigan. I believe he is the first in his family to attain a college degree. I understand hating on rivals' players, I do it as much as the next guy, but Denard is a great kid and getting a Michigan degree is a huge accomplishment.
I've always respected Denard. He seems like he'd be a great/fun dude to hang out with.
I have talked with him several times and I can tell you he is as genuine and high-spirited as he comes off. He is the type of superstar athlete who goes out of his way to hold the door open for you, which is rare nowadays. His primary goal outside of succeeding in life is to make those around him as happy as possible, and it's clear to anyone who knows him that his personality reflects this. I know if I were an OSU fan I would have a profound respect for Denard, the same way I as a Michigan fan have profound respect for Braxton Miller and Aaron Craft. There are some kids who you hate solely because of the colors they wear. I can't wait to see what he does at the next level.
I'll make an early prediction about his NFL career. It will involve lying on the field being attended to by the medical staff. This will be followed by being assisted to the sideline or the locker room for further evaluation. Not durable enough for the big leagues. Good luck and I wish him the best in whatever he chooses to do when he hangs up his cleats. Which will be sooner than later.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I agree with you. I don't dislike Denard which is about as much positive enthusiasm as I can work up for anyone at TTUN. I don't wish him anything bad but he is waaaayyyy too small and not durable enough for the next level. He might not last another 2 years in the Big 10 were it possible. Unless the NFL really ratchets up the penalties for hits (and they are tightening the reins yearly) I don't see him on the field for long.
Respect Denard. Kid seemed to have fun and did at least make it interesting on the field.
However...I Love me some Lolo
“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
Well put. Denard truly has earned everything he has. And you are right, a degree is not small feat. I respect him as an athlete, a scholar and a Man. All the best young man.
Hey look Denard is Woody....
Insert witty remark
Definitely have nothing against Denard going forward, seems like a good guy. Can't say the same for his hair though...
This reminds me of the Troy Story picture from a few years back depicting Troy Smith's dominance over Lloyd Carr. I was going to post it here but I can't for the life of me find it on Google.
When he's not eating imaginary cereal, Denard is a good dude and I hope he finds success at whatever he does.
Class of 2010.
And he's wearing Scarlet and Gray.
The kid is just plain weird.
