Carlos Hyde has come a long, long way since the night of Saturday, October 15th, 2011 when he posted his less-than-flattering, "Guess I'm not good enough. I'll take my talents elsewhere." tweet following Ohio State's 17-7 win over Illinois. Boom Herron had just made his return and dominated the Illini with 114 yards on the ground while El Guapo got just three touches for eight yards. A week prior he had shined his brightest in Lincoln with 104 yards on just thirteen carries so his frustration was understandable but there was enough drama already going on within the program. That was about the last thing we needed, and former Buckeyes Dustin Fox, LeCharles Bentley, Dee Miller and Roy Hall quickly let him know that with replies to his tweet that spoke loudly coming from Buckeye alum.
Hyde quickly deleted his message.
Fast forward a year and a half and we wonder more about whether Carlos will be Urban Meyer's first 1,000-yard running back than we do where Hyde's head is. Thank God Urban was at ESPN when that dreadful tweet came out in 2011 rather than roaming the Ohio Stadium sidelines or El Guapo may have quickly gotten his wish. Instead he's about to spend his senior year in Scarlet and Gray climbing the ladder of Mel Kiper's Big Board and flattening everyone between he and the end zone. One more reason it's an exciting time to be an Ohio State fan.
