I saw where Vico tweeted there are rumors floating that they are trying to schedule OSU vs Clemson in Nashville in the near future. I only live 30 minutes from Nashville so you can understand my excitement. If this happens, we will need a Honkey Tonk Weekend for 11W readers in Nashville. If you've never been to Nashville it is a great city to visit. Hopefully these rumors become reality.
I can't embed the tweet because I can't access social media at work. If somebody can throw it up here, that would be great.

this makes no sense for either program if true.
I dont know karate but i do know crazy and i'm not afraid to use it.

Bama vs scUM playing in Dallas made no sense either... Other than to give publicity to Jerry Jones. It's being looked at like the early game in ATL and Dallas each year. It's a great city for fans to visit and it's a reasonable distance for both programs.
Exactly why does this make no sense? You'd rather see OSU vs. Western Michigan at the Shoe? I, for one, would love to see this happen, and I suspect many others here would as well.
Brady Hoke's reaction to the Urban Meyer hire: "Not good."
Whether you believe it makes sense or not, it's a great idea. This gives fans a chance to travel to a city they normally wouldn't visit throughout the season. Geographically it is reasonable and there is a major airport in Nashville for those who don't want to drive. We will play a major opponent and it will be a primetime game early in the season. Bama vs scUM in Dallas didn't make sense to some, but I'm sure both teams fans loved being able to travel and enjoy some time in Dallas. I think this is going to be great and I hope it becomes reality.
Exactly, preach on. The very idea of this happening gets me excited to spend some time boozing in Nashville and watching some Buckeye football dominance in ESS-EEE-SEE country. Weekends don't get much better than that.

I would love to take a road trip down and attend that game. I hope it is true!
if osu and clemson are serious then pull the britches up and get a home and home done. way better than going to nash.

that comment makes no sense
How in the world does this not make sense?
I am all in for this game. I like the match up and I love the choice of venues. I will be in attendance if this happens.
A game against Clemson in Nashville makes complete sense, if you think of it as a game against Vanderbilt. Vandy canceled its 2013 game at Ohio Stadium and is an important part of the absolutely terrible home schedule we have this year.
The revenge for what Vandy did to Ohio State will never be possible on the field, because it was not about the players. The appropriate response is one that costs Vandy money and causes embarrassment to their program. Putting 70K Ohio State and Clemson fans into the Titan's stadium on the same day that Vandy plays to a half filled stadium, and inviting every high school football coach within 100 miles to attend would send the right message.
I like the way you think.
I second that, Andy. It works for me.
If OSU wants to win a national title in a weak Big X, they may have to beat other top dogs from other conferences in the non-conference. With a 4 team playoff, a loss in the B1G but a win over a top 3 team from another conference may slip OSU into a playoff.
And, as fans, we should want good games more often; if OSU deserves to be national champs, they should earn it. IMO it makes sense in competitive, recruiting, and money ways
It makes sense if for some reason, only one game between the teams is to be played. This way neither has an advantage and splitting revenue is easy.
Money, bragging rights and a major step in the right direction towards a place in the national playoffs..................Lets hope this is the start of big non conference games rather than the Eastern Michigans of the world
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
I live in Nashville so for selfish reasons I think this is awesome!. Also, I think the more quality on our schedule the better.
I live down in Murfreesboro, so this idea makes me extremely happy. Going to a game in Columbus can be pretty pricey for me when you factor in tickets, gas, hotel, food, etc. Anything closer to TN helps tremendously when it comes to reducing the cost of being able to go to a game.
I live in Lebanon and this idea would be awesome. 615 is deep in here today. You hardly ever hear bad things about Nashville from out of towners.
I like it! This would be an entertaining game for all college football fans.
These rumors first started circulating about two months ago, and the possibility was discussed in another 11W Forum post you may want to read for further un-enlightenment. Still haven't seen much credible on this possibility.
I just posted a topic about what Vico tweeted today... He is an 11W staff writer, so I didn't think it wouldn't be credible. I always believe where there is smoke, there is fire.
Ah, don't misunderstand my comments above - I was neither suggesting Vico is not a credible source, nor that you shouldn't have posted the topic. Just wanted to share the original forum post for further information and reading on the subject, and to comment that aside from a Tweet from Vico, I've not seen any independent confirmation of this as anything more than a rumor. That's all.
As far as I can tell this is still just a rumor about playing them in Nashville in 2017.
Already on the schedule for 2017 is North Carolina and Oklahoma. Would they add Clemson to this, knowing that a 9 game B1G schedule is probably gonna happen once Rutgers and Maryland are on board? That would mean no MAC-tion in the Shoe that year.
I'll take Clemson over MAC-tion any day. Especially if they're going to play it down here in SEC country.
I agree. I would love for OSU to be playing a game in Nashville. I just feel like 3 games against the likes of North Carolina, Oklahoma and possibly Clemson, while good for the resume and providing a great non-conference slate, there can be some value in playing a lesser team in the non-conference. But, this will be the age of the playoff and having a great resume could be the difference between getting in or being left out.
I would not miss MACtion.
Granted, UNC is not exactly elite competition, and Clemson may or may not be come 2017, but I'll take games against them over two games against a school from the MAC or other comparable mid-major conference, or *gulp* the FCS. It would be beneficial to the schedule to say that every school that you played was from a major conference.
Class of 2010.
I agree. 2 games against MAC schools is one too many. But I don't have a problem with playing one MAC school a year. The days of playing D 1AA/FCS schools are over, that is after this year's match-up with powerhouse Florida A&M that is.
And yeah it would be beneficial to say you played all major conference teams in your non conference, but I doubt anyone else will be doing this. One way it could certainly help OSU though is if the B1G continues to be a weak conference. OSU could point to their non-conference and say, look who we played.
Just a thought, but with UNC potentially joining the B1G (I know not a done deal), Clemson would replace them as the non-conference opponent and UNC would be a part of the 9 game conference schedule
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Is this what you read? I'm not sure if this has manifest into truth yet but if true, I would like to play Clemson. Something tells me if this happens, we'll be talking about how Woody punched one of their players and got fired. Just one of the few storylines behind this game.
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
Hook it up!
As long as we land Mcmillan, Kitt, and Watson so we don't have to play them lol.
In all seriousness, I think Clemson is to much of an overhyped team. But it would be a great atmosphere to watch these two programs play.
Would love this and hope it becomes reality.Great exposure to southern recruits, that don't make it up north, better non-conference scheduling, means much higher rankings in polls, and as a Georgia resident now, closer to come see the Scarlet and Grey!!Tired of playing these MAC schools and lower level non-conference games.Bring on the supposed big boys of some of these other conferences!!!
SCOTTC.
Not only will it put more money in the coffers, but it can be a real boost to recruiting as you stated.
If this matchup happens, what's the over/under on how many times ESPN shows "the punch"?
Nashville on Wednesday for Spring Break. Bucks vs Tigers in Nashville is a great reason to head down there again sometime. Absolutely awesome city.
This would be cool should it happen....I'll definitely be taking a road trip to Nashville if this becomes a thing.

It is baffling to me how we consistently struggle with 3 pt defense
wrong forummm
This would be incredible. I also live 30 minutes from Nashville, i would be the first person in line for tickets.
For my own selfish reasons I would like to see a game against an SEC team (Arkansas?) played in Jacksonville!
"Because I couldn't go for 3"
I'm guessing this rumor is getting close to becoming true because this rumor popped up a few months ago as well.
