July isn't far away. It appears that Mr. September himself Denard Robinson will be on the cover on EA sports NCAA 14 game. I've heard of people making custom covers and found a guy on a sports gaming site that does these. He does some pretty good work. I asked about having a cover made for Buckeye Nation to avoid having michigan anything on your shelf, and he said he's up for the challenge. Where I need your help is ideas and large images. My idea so far is to put John Simon on the cover with Urban Meyer with Ohio Stadium in the background. Below are some of the pictures I thought about using. I'd really like a still shot of Urban in that GIF of him pointing his finger. I think that would be sweet. Feel free to post pictures or ideas for a custom tOSU cover for the game.

Picture the above images used in the below format.

Here is the latest:

Simon would be great....the pic above is a nice shot.
Can't handle Detard, I'm still naseous about the '06 Desmond cover (that I tore out).
Appreciate your help in keeping anything Mishitcan off the shelves....

Was '06 the year you could customize the cover? I remember pre-ordering a game and they gave you an option of Brutus on the cover.
Idk....you probably could, haven't been up to speed on all things video games for some time. Get NCAA fb annually, sometimes with hockey or Madden. Never did the pre order thing though.
The best thing about that '06 game was the soundtrack. Almost, almost made up for the nauseating cover.

Denard couldn't even win a September Heisman this year. I can't believe EA Sports couldn't find a better graduating senior to put on the cover. Denard has never been a guy that TSUN was able to win with or because of at a high level. 1-3 vs OSU, 1-3 vs MSU, 1-2 in bowl games with the one win being thanks to a horrible call, and 31-20 overall in 51 games in 4 seasons. That's your cover? Pathetic.
Desmond wasn't easy to stomach, either, but at least he won a Heisman and accomplished things up there.

I'll see what I can do ;-)

Denard will still be on the opening screen, you know? Unless you find a way to mod the game, itself.

Do you make it a habit to rain on parades or is it a one time deal?
Probably somewhere in between. Just pointing it out, that's all. If it makes you feel any better, I said in the thread about voting against Denard that I don't think he belongs on the cover.
By the way, being reported that TAMU fans made voting bots. Apparently Swopes got some 40k votes overnight.

No harm really. I just had to give you a hard time. I turn the game on and don't switch the tv over until after it loads anyway. I had to think pretty hard to remember it was RGIII this year.
Last I heard Denard still had a 1,400 vote lead. Too bad more tOSU fans didn't care enough to vote for Swope. I guess I'll always remember Denard as that really fast kid with dreads that played QB for Meatchicken, went 1-3 with the single win being against Ohio State in their worst season in decades. I will also remember him for losing his job to Devin Gardner.

If you consider a lingering injury "losing your job," then sure.

If they guy below you is the starter, and you still get some playing time, I'd say you lost your job.

3 time September Heisman winner doesn't mean anything to you?
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Hail's post did not deserve 5 downvotes. Loosen up people.
What do you guys think?
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
WOW, where/when can I purchase?
It's not quite ready yet. The guy working on this for us will make one for both 360 and PS3 once NCAA 14 releases its cover images online. So all you will have to do is print your cover off..... remove Denard cover... insert excellence.
The toughest part will be buying the game in a store. Maybe hide it so no one sees you carrying something with Michigan on the cover. lol.
Also this is free. No one should have to pay to avoid scUM.

Except Simon's not a linebacker.

I thought an aggressive standing shot would look better than the top of his helmet. The idea of having him on a cover is that you are able to see his face.
EDIT: I just now caught that it said linebacker by his name. The guy doing this is staitioned in South Korea and has free time on his hands to do this for us. He is not an Ohio State fan.

Also that looks more like Coombs than Urban. Just a bad shot of Urbz.

I agree on the pic, def not the Urban we are used to looking at. I would love to use a good picture of him pointing, if anyone can find one it would help.

Aside from listing Simon as an LB, this is f'n awesome.
How about "Senior Captain John Simon"?

Finally finished my 1st go at it. (If people can dig this - then I will also do an Xbox 360 version. And I can also make these in print resolution for those who may want to print em out.)

this is amazing excellent work!
I really like this one can you make it in xbox360?
picture of urban pointing at the tv camera would be a good one
Yes!!! Glad I just read through every comment because I was going to suggest this same image!!! This should absolutely be on there, maybe even front and center, with the Simon image semi-left background and a packed 'Shoe with a 12-0 banner in the crowd on semi-right background.
Tempting to get on the computer to throw this together but I'm slow with that stuff and would have to chalk up the whole week, lol

If you can find a link to a good pic of UFM pointing, please post a link. I had trouble finding one.

I feel like it would be a waste of money to buy this game regardless of who's on the cover. I mean it's going to be basically the same as this years version, with no Maryland or Rutgers in the conference yet. Why wouldn't you just wait until the next version comes out with the Playoff postseason format?
Great point about the playoff option coming (a year from this August, I guess?). I've always wanted them to add a playoff option, like the lower levels of college football. Back in the day the Bill Walsh game had a playoff, which was awesome. You can add Maryland and Rutgers to the conference with the edit option in the game currently out. There really isn't any good reason to buy the coming version, so it's actually fitting Denard is on the cover.
who gives a crap if Maryland and Rutgers is in the videogame B1G anyway? Unless your playing in conference commissioner mode where you try to gobble up as much cable-subscription $$$ as the United States landscape would allow.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Because the bucks suck in 13. Braxton gets hurt every time you run him and the D allows 30 Pts a game.
It hasn't stopped me from going 300-0 with 25 national titles and 25 heismans but still.

The photo where he's pointing or the one(s) where he's bent over intensively surveying the field with the headphones on. The latter is what I think of as Urban's distinctive/characteristic "pose". Whether it'd be more compositionally and visually interesting to have Meyer and Simon in a "crouched" position versus having an upright Meyer pointing opposite a crouching Simon is hard to say. A draft of each would help determine.
Things turn out best for people who make the best out of the way things turn out. - Woody Hayes
Also from what i heard dont worry about Denard being on the cover, the Fan Vote has been thrown out the window according to EA Sports. Heard Swoope will be on the cover to hype A&M next year but i've also heard its not going to be either guy.
Huh....regardless I still think it't awesome to have our own custom cover, and even awesomer that we have a thread on this and a community that bands together to make it happen..... ONLY ON 11W !!! I tell ya...
BammBamm is my dog, Riley is my 4 yr old daughter, and THE Ohio state Buckeyes complete the three most sacred loves I cherish
This is the best image I can find. The only problem I have at this point would be that between Simon and Meyer there is too much scarlet, so maybe look into a pic of Simon in an away uniform. Thoughts anyone?

You could go with this...
I love this picture of
Spielman...I mean UrbsI am opposed to buying anything that boasts the likeness of a college player. I haven't bought an NCAA sports game since 2009, and I haven't bought a jersey since 2005. I don't have a problem with colleges selling t-shirts that say "Such-and-such University Football," but to sell a jersey or a video game to capitalize on the popularity of a current or former player when that player cannot do the same for himself is wrong, despite its current legality.
So, my best advice is to just skip buying this game. Technically, you already own it anyway...it's just a repackaged version of the last 10 versions.
The player on the cover is always a former player that is allowed to make money off of his name.
your right about the jerseys that use alot of the same numbers with no names on them, but you are completely wrong about the NCAA game, them being on the cover is like any cover athlete of any other game. Hmm, typing that out made me realize maybe denard will make the cover as a sympathy vote, he'll need the money
Sorry, guys, but you're both wrong.

LOL at this, no one relevant from the last what? 7-8 years is involved in this, and my comment pertains to the cover vote. If you think RG3 and Barry Sanders didn't get paid when their actual names are on the cover, you are mistaken, maybe some old guys got screwed, but the cover guys today get paid.
Plus, this lawsuit pertains to a part of the gameplay experience using player likenesses from older teams, which absolutely has ground. The covers of these games don't "boast the likeness of a college player," they "boast" the actual player, and print his name on the damn thing, that's not "likeness."
They do not get a cut for an image of them while they were in college. They sign a piece of paper on the first day as a college athlete that says the NCAA owns their college likeness forever and throughout the universe.
Yep. So even though EA can have QB#2 from Ohio State stand 6'5, weigh 240, check in as one of the fastest players at his position in the 'country' (Game)-they can sell that game until they are blue in the face, but when Terrelle Pryor (QB#2 from OSU, standing 6'5, weighing 240 and is one of the fastest QB's in the country) sells his own game worn stuff, he gets the banhammer.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Yup. If college football players were allowed to sell their own likeness, a bunch of them would have been approached years ago to endorse a College All-Stars line of footballl video games, sold under their own license and with their own names on it. They can't do this because the NCAA owns their college likenesses. Another example is that Archie Griffin doesn't get a dime from any #45 jerseys sold by Ohio State. Now, you might say, "they get around this by not putting Griffin's name on the jersey, and since other players have worn the #45, it's not attributable to him." Except, Ohio State retired the #45, giving Archie Griffin the honor of deciding who wears that #...something he actually doesn't REALLY legally have, but just something Ohio State uses to make money. Why? Because Ohio State and the NCAA own his likeness.
And Brewster, you're absolutely right. What annoys me even more is that Terrelle Pryor's name is an unlockable feature, along with the rest of the rosters. I don't even know how I unlocked it, suddenly everyone's name was visible.
If I'm right, then why are you down voting me, hater? I keed, I keed.
As for the name thing-I know you can manually alter the names, I didn't know what you described could happen. Maybe that was a hack or something. I don't know.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Brew, lol, I rarely downvote anyone. Haters be hatin' round these parts, though.
Yeah, I honestly don't know how it got unlocked, and I can't seem to find anything online about it, either. I definitely didn't go in there and input the names myself.
that still doesn't support the fact that Griffin's name was on the cover, they may own his college likeness, but they don't own his actual name right? Also, what are your thoughts on this commercial then, you'll know what part i'm talking about:
Here's what we're looking for- the only place I've seen this particular shot is here on 11W.
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
The last urban pic is definitely the winner
Schack
I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of Coombs blowing up an OSU player coming off the field in celebration of a good play on the cover. Whenever I see it, all I can think is I would love to play for that guy, but it could be slightly embarrassing when your coach lays you out after a big play.
Roll with it.
So the concensus is the last pic of UFM pointing. I think "senior captain" would look and fit better than "senior defensive end"
any suggestions on the top label that reads "ohio state fan addition"?
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I would go with 'The Ohio State University Edition'.
Shark's pic of Urban pointing is absolutely perfect along with a white jersey John Simon and script Ohio in the background.

Here's his latest. Fixed Simon's title, more focused pic of Urban, I'm not sure about the tOSU logo he added to the bottom. I think this is def better though. I will post this in the original post until we top it.

I like it, but I also agree with you on the logo concern at the bottom. If the artist put a simple stroke around it that faded it would probably work well. IMO

I think it's already been topped by the one the other guy posted above...
We could get comical and replace the tOSU logo with Coombs screaming head, like in the staff's redbull plane pic.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I'm thinking Simon projects to be an OLB in a 3-4 scheme at the next level. Think how the Steelers used to use James Harrison...(feels strange saying "used to", as a Steelers fan, btw.)
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
It would be nice to say "the way" Harrison will be making plays in Cleveland.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
No thanks
I guess it's not a bad thing to not be on the cover of an NCAA game, it's not like the list of players has gone on to great things in the NFL:
Joey Harrington
Jared Zabransky
Colt McCoy
Carson Palmer
Tim Tebow
Chris Weinke
Mark Sanchez
JT
The Ohio State University, College of Arts & Sciences, Class of 2006

Out of this stellar line-up, Joey Harrington makes me laugh the loudest.

This is the pic needed in some fashion on the cover.
