Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Most of Carlos' TDs were from inside the 10. He is a beast in those situations, but I wonder if the push for a Braxton Heisman will result in the staff calling on El Guapo less in favor of Braxton running plays to get his TD numbers higher whenever we get close to the endzone.
That makes some good logical sense, but I don't see it happening personally. The reason being, adding to Brax's carries means he takes more hits, and I don't see them being willing to expose him to that. He already dealt with injury issues (he went out of a game 3-4 different times last year due to heavy hits, got up limping at least 10-15 times) -- if you increase the carries, that means you're potentially going to deal with even greater injury issues; OSU has an incredibly viable backup in Kenny G as he's shown time and time again, but I don't think the coaches want to take the chance. Of course freak injuries happen, you could have an off the field Jordan Hall-esque injury to anyone at anytime, but if you increase the carries the likelihood of injury increases.
I will also say, I don't think more carries means Braxton would be more likely to win the Heisman, either. Manziel's rushing numbers were pretty similar to Braxton's, it was his passing numbers that gave him the edge (around 1700 more passing yards than Brax). I think this is a year when you'll see Braxton run about the same -- perhaps even less -- and throw much more.
Fun video to watch. He does just blast through, doesn't he? It also highlights the O-line making those nice holes to bulldose through. No wonder the rule was when Hyde made it into the end zone, he had to find his linemen for a "hey, good job".
If I'm an NFL scout I am liking Hyde's running style in a RB by committee rotation. North and south runner with clear elusive and shiftiness to hit the holes hard. I think he has a nice 7-10 carry a game average career in used right.
I've watched the 2012 game against Mich several times and can say without question that Carlos Hyde is why we won that game. He was outstanding in every area, even recovered a Braxton Miller fumble that would've o'wise gone to Mi. His power running was decisive.
How can you not love this guy? Running with "attitude", and a very negative one toward opposing defenders. I'll say it again, "Hyde is one of the best to play at tOSU." He proves it to the world this fall.

It's good to see El Guapo finally starting to get the respect he deserves. No need for the " ".
Nice post. Good vid. Expect great things from him this fall.

That's a fitting avatar lol
Watching this video made me realize how damn fast Hyde is for his size.

Hyde isn't the flashiest guy, but when you need a few yards, he's gonna get them. Love this guy.
I'm slowing incorporating my ¡Vi-Va!, ¡El Guap-O! chant alongside my O-H, I-O chant.
I should be ready by August, this vid sure got some reps.

Thanks for posting!
Keep making these videos :)
Glad you enjoy them man, it is certainly a fun hobby. I have a few more things planned.
I love that El Guapo found Denard's spoon and put it to good use.

Watching this video just makes me LOL at the people whose "bold predictions for 2013" included Carlos Hyde getting passed over as our starting RB

I know I heard at least a dozen DB's say "Oh Sh@"t!" when he broke through the line in that video. Thanks for the view...

A whole bunch of 15-25 yd runs in that highlight package!
God damn that's a pretty f*cking good milkshake! I don't know if it's worth five dollars, but it's pretty f*cking good.

I still don't see how that run against Indiana was called down at the 1 yard line.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Ain't nothin better than smash mouth, knock yo ass flat on your back, football..
Great stuff! Would love to see a few of his blocks included. He did a great job clearing the way for some of Braxton's big runs.
