Buckeye Dominance in Basketball and Football

I was playing sporcle tonight and I came across a quiz labeled "Schools with a BCS win and final four appearance during the BCS era." There were only 10 schools that qualified. After completing the quiz (and getting all 10 right btw ;)) I looked at the resumes and OSU stood well above and beyond every school except Florida. I posted the pic for you all to see. I just wanted to make everyone realize just how lucky we are to be Buckeye fans during this time of dominance in the two biggest college sports and with Thad and Urban at the helm, I fully expect this trend to continue! BTW scUM was NOT on the list! O-H....!

Good stuff, thanks for sharing. Would expect tOSU to overtake Florida (hopefully in both sports) very soon.

I also like the fact this list is scUM free, as it should be.

I would say we are ahead of them. We have just as many final fours and one more BCS win

edit: I didn't think about the national championships :(

Thanks for the post. In my lifetime, now in its 6th decade, this is truly one of the great eras to be a Buckeye fan. There have been special seasons but not a time period when both teams were functioning at such high levels. Go Bucks!

Florida's dominance the back end of the decade was just stupid in both major sports. What Billy D and Meyer put together was truly amazing. However OSUs consistency in both major sports was equally amazing. Consider if the Bucks would have won just two more games (both against Florida or one against LSU) the level of dominance OSU would have held over the NCAA would have been the measuring stick for athletic success for all major universities in the modern era.

Regardless what a great ride.

Combine football and basketball records over the past 5 years and Ohio State has the highest winning percentage.

Only reason I'd put Florida ahead of OSU is because they beat us in two NC games in one year. I still can't get over the fact we had the same two schools in both NC games with the same outcome. That will likely not be repeated anytime soon...

Luckily for us, we got the reason the football program was so good coaching our team now.

NOTE: I know nothing about college basketball so my brackets reflect something crazy each year. That year I picked Florida v OSU in the final with OSU winning of course. I clearly won my pool because of that...

The four total Natl Champs go a long way but when I heard people complain about Tress and Matta we really do need to appreciate what they have done for this university.

technically, we didnt get a final four and a bcs win in 07...just a final four

Many of the teams that are on this list are irrelevant in at least one of the two sports now. Consistency is something that should never be taken for granted.
