Aaron Murray won’t be spending spring break this year in Cancun or Key West. Would you believe Norman, Okla.? That’s where Murray will go to work with quarterback guru George Whitfield. The Georgia senior said he’ll be there from Saturday to the following Friday. The California-based Whitfield has worked with Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, Johnny Manziel and is getting Oklahoma’s Landry Jones ready for the NFL draft. That’s why Murray will be in Norman. Oklahoma’s Pro Day is March 13. Murray said he expects Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller to join him. i'm glad braxton is doing this, it'll be great for the teams success this fall, but i think for him personally, this has been big in terms of him getting himself nfl ready, who knows we might be watching the future face of the philadelphia eagles running around the horseshoe this year, not that i like the eagles, i just want to see miller go where he can prosper most and philly may be the place
Yes I agree I love the fact that he's actually working on his own to get better this will definetly help himself and the team. Wow just imagine Braxton passing like Troy with his ability to run defenses wouldn't know what to do to stop us .
When someone shows you who they are believe them! In other words piss a good friend off and see what they really think about you.
To me this also helps him with his NFL stock. Obviously he will be better which will help but it also shows coaches and GMs that he is willing to go the extra mile to better himself. A lot of other players around the country would be taking their spring break as a time to relax in the middle of a tough couple weeks of practice. I think it is pretty easy to say Braxton is the epitome of "The Chase".
Yea I feel like Urban is exactly the kind of coach that Braxton needs and now is taking on that hungry hard working type of player I think he'll be a leader this yr.

The kid wants to be elite... That's all you can say about this... He will have plenty of time for chasing girls and partying later.
He sure does want to be elite and I'm so glad! I can't wait for the season to start. I want to see how he looks in the spring game.

I think Braxton will be better than Troy was in 06 and obviously that's saying a lot but I think his passing numbers will be on par and he'll rush for 700+.
That is definetly saying a lot I hope you're right and I would love to see this. The potential is definetly there and so are the weapons!

I think Braxton could throw for 3000 and rush for a 1000 this year... Our offense is really going to spread defenses out and create opportunities through the air and on the ground. It should be a fun year for OSU football. I believe our defense will let us know early if we have a shot at a national title. If our young guys come out and play like juniors and seniors then we will win it all because they will be extremely polished the last 3-4 games of the year.
He definitely could get 1000, I just don't think he'll have to this year. We're going to be so much fun to watch.
Should be easily attainable, especially if we'll most likely play 14 games..
It'll only take a lil under 215 yards passing and 72 yards rushing per game to accomplish the 3000/1000 yards season.
The 1000 yards this year, in my opinion, will depend on his scrambling ability. If you believe Urban, most of Braxtons yards from runs were on designed runs and not scrambles. I think with the running back situation this year, and his improved passing ability, there will be far fewer designed runs for Braxton. Since he'll be throwing more, his rushing yards total will be impacted greatly by how many yards he racks up on scrambles when plays break down etc.
I suppose though, 1000 yards is a a drop off from last year.
You have to assume that teams keyed in on Braxton to run, right? Usually, Braxton just made defenders miss. Imagine what he can do when the defenders are more spread out and instead of using that split second to make a defender miss, he is using it to get more up field. I might be foolish, but I actually believe his YPC will go up while his total rushing yardage will go down.
This may actually work against xBrax. I believe he would gain more yards with the box loaded because after he makes that extra defender miss it is smooth sailing. On the contrary, when they are more spread out they have time to react and get into better possion to stop his larg gains. I know this goes against conventional wisdom, but there is really nothing conventional about Braxton.
If Braxton can bring it all together this year look out college football.

1000 yards rushing is going to be tough to get this year.... I think his number of carries will be down greatly.... He should be making the proper reads and handing of to Hyde more and the H back will be getting a lot more touches.... If his passing fundamentals are improved more pass plays will be called .... But with 14 games, who knows
This is nothing but good for us and scary as hell for all our foes.Love his commitment to improving his craft.he knows his weaknesses, and constantly wants to improve upon them.
SCOTTC.
Urban said Braxton's footwork was often lacking last year. In Spring ball this year it has been perfect. That and familiarity with his receivers, who he organized workouts with since the U of M game, has made all of his thrown right on the money thus far.
You mean in the one practice they've had? What source?
And except those 2 picks to Roby.
Ahhh... FOOOSEBALLLLL
One was Braxton One was Cardale.
With Hyde, a healthy Hall (hopefully), and some new younmg playmakers, Urban is going to try to keep Brax healthy. I anticipate fewer called runs and more passing. If he gets to 1000 it will be because he has figured out how and when to scramble when protection breaks down or receivers are covered. Personally I'd like to see fewer rushing yards, a lot more passing years, and a lot fewer hits absorbed.
I agree. I hope to see Brax much improved but I don't see him getting 1000 rushing yards. We have a lot of new weapons and Hall is back this year and clearly Miller wants to be a better passer I sure hope that happens I would be very happy.

Working with a guru like Whitfield can only help. It sounds like Brax is progressing well already, getting good coaching while his official coaches are not permitted to work with the players. Odd rules.
If Brax runs for 1000 yards again, then we'll know this offense still has deficiencies. We should not need Braxton to really do anything BUT pass in theory, obviously its an important part of our offense, hence the "in theory." The B1G is still trying to revamp itself lets be honest and it doesn't matter what class you're in if you have speed to burn. Hall, Wilson, Marshall, Elliott, Hyde, R. Smith, etc.--when you begin to look at short, quick passes as running plays (like Steve Smith for the Panthers on quick darts, making up for their inconsistent running game), or simply plays that gain quick hitting yardage, that minimize turnovers the more you realize how much less Miller should have to run this year.
Not necessarily, Urbans offense is predicated on the QB being a threat to run, so if he gets to 1000 on less carries it will mean the offense is where it needs to be.
i agree, i said "in theory," it's just my thought that ohio state will be so much faster than every other B1G team. last year we REALLY didn't have the personnel, now we do, young as they may be.
Every offense has its deficiencies. No one will ever have perfect personnel, or 11 guys that never make mistakes or have weaknesses.
im glad work is never done
So glad to her Braxton putting the extra time on his passing technique... Good for him, and good for the team!
I saw a Tweet a couple of days ago saying that Braxton was NOT going to be going to Oklahoma now. I think it was Brandon from The Ozone who tweeted it. I can't access social media at work so I can't embed the tweet.
Does anyone know for sure if he is or is not going?
@cbssports tweeted yesterday that BM5 was still going to Norman but I also saw tweets saying he wasn't going. I really hope he goes. If Braxton improves his passing mechanics, watch out college football!
On a side note, is George Whitfield C-lo Greens brother?!
Yeah Castel confirmed Braxton isn't going.
